00:00 okay I'm ready I'm already recording
00:02 your let's uh let's go ahead and get
00:04 started and play the jingle boom it's
00:19 2019 Greg we made it we made it one Eric
00:26 not not very consistent one year but one
00:28 year we've been doing this test for one
00:30 year Wow
00:32 I could almost I could almost see that
00:34 year progress in your beard ha ha ha I
00:37 saved it like last week it was actually
00:39 really big and I was like I yeah I could
00:42 actually like grab a handful of it it
00:44 was kind of yeah I was getting pretty
00:46 long could you say you cleaned it up for
00:48 me Joe oh that's very smooth ha ha ha
00:50 it's very sweet Joe although I could go
00:52 with a little small cuz a little short
00:53 cuz now I'm getting back into the itchy
00:55 phase like I'm like oh damn cuz once you
00:57 get past a certain point it's not itchy
00:58 anymore and it's I think I went a little
01:01 too short so yeah I'm learning it's the
01:04 whole thing I've stayed trimming a beard
01:06 is like messy like have you ever growing
01:09 out your beard and like trimmed it all
01:11 like frickin hair gets all over the
01:13 place dude oh I'm I'm made aware if I
01:17 don't already mo err I am made aware yes
01:26 I know it's not the beginning of January
01:28 Gregg but how was like your holidays the
01:30 end your new year and all that jazz had
01:32 that go for you good good very busy not
01:36 restful enough I wish there was a little
01:38 bit more downtime yeah but you know it
01:41 was good a little glad it's over
01:44 now with that you know looking forward
01:46 instead of looking back but yeah I'm
01:48 ready for 2019 how about you aw dude I'm
01:51 I can't wait for 2019 I'm I'm gonna kill
01:53 it this year I just know it it's gonna
01:54 be good here yeah that's good I like to
01:57 hear that yeah I feel like my you know
02:02 my major promise to myself Oh over the
02:05 holidays and into the new years stop
02:08 stop what I'm doing focus and start
02:11 shipping again I've got too many too
02:13 many
02:13 incomplete things going on so time to
02:18 focus hanker down and get stuff done
02:20 cool cool yeah yeah I can gratify the
02:24 way on your PI release oh thanks yep
02:26 PI's been I've been really good the
02:28 people that have bought it
02:29 you know if I'll be honest it has it
02:31 been like the killer release because
02:33 it's one of those stacks that you buy it
02:35 when you need it you know sort of thing
02:37 you know it's not like a stack
02:39 everyone's gonna want to go out and buy
02:40 today but the people that have bought it
02:43 have really loved it and they've shared
02:45 a couple things that they built with it
02:47 and yeah they're really happy with it
02:49 and obviously it works great with forms
02:51 plus yes those for that yep
02:54 yeah that came really well I'm glad it
02:56 was pretty easy to integrate yep yeah
02:59 yeah Paul's done some really cool
03:01 interesting examples where I mean cuz
03:03 the power forms plus is where you can
03:04 kind of do that multi-step forms right
03:06 so he built this really cool example of
03:09 like building out a pricing package for
03:12 like a web design business so he's like
03:14 you know choose your package click Next
03:16 and then basically you know all
03:18 throughout pie is calculating um you
03:20 know all of that stuff through each step
03:22 of the form it's really cool stuff mmm
03:25 yeah you know what else would be cool
03:26 you submit that to the database because
03:29 forms plus supports my sequel yep and
03:32 then you can build an admin area with
03:36 your a lock down right with your stack
03:39 and then feed that into gridiron and you
03:42 have a whole table for someone to log in
03:44 and see all the submissions and all that
03:46 stuff go what does gridiron pull from a
03:48 database as well again Yannick I didn't
03:51 know that very cool yeah it figures out
03:54 all the columns that you have in the
03:56 database and depending on how you name
04:00 them it will it will automatically split
04:04 it based on on underscores and make them
04:06 into the words so like if you had custom
04:09 underscore column it would be capital C
04:12 Oh capital C cool yeah so it makes like
04:18 a whole night you can make a whole nice
04:19 table out of it slick
04:21 yeah you know good work Greg thanks
04:25 chosing like you too you too
04:27 high-five fist bump have a little secret
04:34 handshake going on on the podcast
04:35 exactly yeah so you ready for what are
04:41 you guys going in the pipeline then so I
04:44 have a couple a bunch of like small
04:45 stacks then I have been building over
04:48 the past year or so that I just need to
04:50 get out and released so um I have an
04:53 Avenue stat called seems that'll
04:55 probably be released in the next couple
04:56 weeks it's kind of like a stack that has
05:01 like you know like section you could
05:04 basically I create sections between your
05:06 pages and it has like the the wave or
05:08 you know the diagonal lines you know
05:10 like where you can create those sort of
05:12 you know
05:13 skewed sections in your sites these
05:16 bricks yeah there you go page breaks I
05:18 guess um it doesn't actually do like the
05:20 the scrolled point but it it creates
05:22 either you know you could pay basically
05:24 make SVG's because that's what it does
05:27 on the fly and it'll create either
05:29 slanted lines or you know kind of a wave
05:32 and S curve or a busy a curve and
05:35 obviously you can style them and color
05:37 them so then you have nice little
05:38 sections and stuff so yeah that's cool
05:41 that'll be come in a couple weeks but
05:42 the main thing I'm working on right now
05:44 is foundation to that is I'm hoping for
05:47 maybe a beta by like the end of March
05:50 that's my goal but I'm still really
05:54 early stages on that so and it probably
05:57 will require stacks for so I shipped it
06:01 I shipped a beta oh yeah okay well yeah
06:04 Weaver picks for hmm what's it man
06:08 because uh who what what does it have
06:11 let's see obviously total CMS
06:13 integration log and blog gallery right
06:16 what else Flickr you had your images
06:19 directly obviously top
06:23 and you could load them from a CSV file
06:26 mm and has a buzzer miss CSV interesting
06:29 so you just put like warehoused image
06:31 URLs in the CSV you know I should I
06:33 should I should open it up before I
06:34 speak off the top my head because this
06:39 is like you know public record and I'm
06:40 gonna hear I won't hear the under video
06:42 I cuz I break you promised me CSV
06:45 support I could see the email now no
06:55 free hosting you said right Greg oh god
06:58 Joe well folks that was the end of the
07:03 Weaver radio series rest in peace it was
07:13 good while it lasted
07:14 alright single image warehoused 50
07:17 pixels flicker total CMS gallery told
07:20 CMS image trustee Miss blog and a CSV
07:23 file okay cool yes so yeah and then you
07:30 know those are all your image sources
07:32 and then your image galleries there are
07:35 right now two four six seven eight
07:41 different gallery types you know that's
07:43 gonna be pending on how it what I get
07:44 working in all that stuff but you know
07:47 is this gets back or is it all gonna be
07:48 a plug in stack justice I think gonna be
07:52 a stack yes so the unfortunate thing is
07:57 obviously you can't easily migrate from
08:00 three to four but yeah now it's not a
08:03 stack so you get all this all this
08:06 benefits all this in better integration
08:07 a sauce yeah can't wait to see it
08:11 I can't wait to get a ton but in a
08:14 spirit of my new year's resolution of
08:16 focusing on one thing and one thing only
08:18 and getting it done and shipping it I'm
08:20 working on my chili dog hosting website
08:21 first awesome and a marketing page for
08:24 your Cindy service right
08:26 absolutely just for YouTube because I've
08:28 been I've been recommending that to
08:30 people and then they're like how do I
08:31 get it
08:32 yeah I know it's it's it's it is a big
08:35 goal it is a big oversight on my part so
08:37 I apologize so if anybody has any
08:39 questions please reach out but yes a
08:43 whole new website all new pricing plans
08:45 I'm not gonna ship my bundles that I
08:48 want to do quite yet
08:49 just because I mean just cut back just
08:52 to get this done but I'm gonna add one
08:54 old suppiy packs or what ya think I did
09:01 get clever terms for all oh I think I
09:04 did had it I think I did have a funny
09:06 name but now I can't remember oh I have
09:09 to look this up enjoy this gonna drive
09:11 me nuts
09:11 Oh a puppy pound I gotta figure it I
09:17 like that
09:17 no I this good I had but I had I had
09:20 something better I had something better
09:21 or not I can't remember oh man obviously
09:27 go through my slack chat history then
09:34 okay
09:35 yeah no I'll come up with a name
09:38 challenge accepted so so yeah so so
09:44 Weaver picks for new website come in ETA
09:47 on the website I know I mean I I hate
09:50 when people ask me that question so is
09:52 it like three months away two months
09:54 away I know Joe what do you think I was
10:00 shipping mine in like February 2018 and
10:03 all of a sudden October runs around and
10:05 I finally got a website up if I I know
10:09 if I say this I know there were people
10:11 people that coming on the Hangout who
10:13 hold me to this and harass me until the
10:16 end of time about it so I said I know I
10:22 know I'm going to have to compound this
10:25 one and say when it's ready I don't I
10:30 don't want the peanut gallery to come
10:32 with there were their pitchforks and
10:36 so now hopefully hopefully this quarter
10:40 I mean I'm writing content now and
10:41 working out bugs but it's coming along
10:43 so sweet yeah yeah exhausting kind of
10:48 work yeah I'm also excited you know
10:51 stacks force coming pretty soon I'm
10:53 excited about that been seeing some
10:54 screenshots getting leaked about it and
10:56 stuff so it's been exciting yes yes I
11:02 haven't heard any of the API changes so
11:04 no shouldn't have many API changes he
11:07 tries to keep the four dotto like the
11:10 major releases like api's pretty much
11:12 stays pretty consistent there might be a
11:14 few minor new things but mostly
11:16 consistent and then the dot 5 release
11:19 that's when he does like the big API
11:21 changes that way it's it's a smoother
11:24 transition for end-users because he
11:27 doesn't want to have huge API changes
11:29 and then also huge you know you i and
11:32 you know stacks changes so it's smart I
11:35 like that kind of release cycle it makes
11:37 makes a lot of sense thinking about
11:39 upgrades and release cycles you know
11:41 wrap weaver 8.1 got released you know
11:44 the past I think it was of this past
11:46 week and yeah you know III was a little
11:50 shocked cuz I've been using the rapid e
11:53 for 8.1 the beta was in beta for quite a
11:56 long time and
11:59 I've say I thought it was stable and
12:00 ready I thought it was a super solid and
12:03 I was excited for users to get it
12:06 because it was it was just a solid
12:07 update and then it got released and just
12:11 stuff hit the fan you know now we have
12:14 to say that you know as usual when you
12:18 know people are looking at forums mostly
12:20 people that post that have issues are on
12:22 the forums right so while all the posts
12:25 were overtly negative there were
12:26 thousands upon thousands of people that
12:28 had zero issues with 8.1 and everything
12:30 was moving smoothly so but wrap weaver
12:34 is now up to 8.1 dot 3 so they've
12:37 released a few different few updates and
12:39 apparently it's really smooth things out
12:41 for for those user that had issues but
12:45 yeah that I think there are still a
12:47 couple of small kinks and you know
12:49 issues with things like older versions a
12:51 plus kit and I know if someone I know a
12:55 couple of you PI had like a really old
12:56 version of Plus kit installed and with
12:59 8.1 it actually caused like they lost
13:01 some images like it actually like
13:04 permanently like lost images from the
13:06 project and stuff so is if you had this
13:09 special combination and you were special
13:12 you got you got the lucky prize and got
13:15 to lose some work and I feel sorry about
13:17 that but apparently it didn't happen if
13:20 you had the latest version of Plus kit
13:21 and stuff like that so yeah it's
13:24 unfortunate but like I said for a vast
13:27 majority of the users 8.1 has been a
13:29 huge improvement
13:30 I think the preview speed of it is
13:32 vastly improved they fix that looping
13:35 bug which was I was kind of killing me
13:38 um you know where if you quickly
13:40 switched between pages and and the page
13:43 didn't fully render in preview yet you'd
13:45 be stuck in this loop and it would go
13:46 back and forth between pages that's
13:48 quite annoying but yeah 8.1 for me at
13:52 least is stable I've even used an 8.1
13:54 Greg yes yes and I was like to say is
13:58 thank goodness didn't do it over the
14:00 holidays fair enough
14:05 yeah yeah yeah otherwise it would have
14:07 been a little a little scary because you
14:10 know nobody around or anything like that
14:11 you know how it is definitely you have
14:18 any good New Year's resolution just
14:19 hoped you Joe uh no you know it was just
14:21 mostly to you know I need to get focused
14:25 on foundation to a total CMS to after
14:28 that actually I kinda had one resolution
14:31 where you know I want to get back to my
14:33 roots of you know I'm a huge automation
14:35 fan but for a lot of things that kind of
14:37 fell off the automation bandwagon so one
14:40 of my resolutions is to try to automate
14:43 a lot of things again this year um you
14:45 know kind of reevaluate various things
14:47 that I used to do or I still do kind of
14:50 manually and seeing how it can automate
14:52 that so I signed up for zapier and you
14:57 know I I've been wanting to do zapier
15:00 and if this and that for forever but I
15:03 never wanted to for some reason I always
15:05 felt like I didn't want to be relied I
15:07 didn't want to have to rely on them on
15:09 those services and I always felt because
15:12 I'm a developer that I like to just
15:14 write scripts to do that stuff for
15:15 myself right and and I have I have been
15:19 doing that but
15:21 a lot of times if you know one service
15:23 changes their API or something you know
15:25 small other changes happen after then
15:27 figure out what the heck happened go fix
15:29 my script go figure out what they
15:31 changed in their API and you know it was
15:34 just a lot of work so you know this year
15:36 I've I decided that I just needed to
15:38 bite the bullet I send it for zapier and
15:40 and yeah I'm excited to see what I could
15:42 do with that I have car team integrated
15:44 with zapier
15:46 so yeah cart loom goes into zapier and
15:48 then zapier integrates with my cindy
15:50 instance so that's that's the only thing
15:52 I've set up so far and so starting you
15:57 know this actually just finished gotten
15:58 set that set of today actually I had
16:00 some SSL issues and yeah whatever it
16:03 took me like a week to figure out what
16:04 the heck was going on do you have the
16:08 paid version or the free version or sap
16:11 here so up until today I had the free
16:14 version and the free version only allows
16:16 you up 100 tasks per month and I'd
16:21 already hit that in like less than a
16:23 week so I went I upgraded to the paid
16:27 version but I think it's like 20 bucks a
16:30 month I went for the monthly plan
16:32 instead of the yearly plan I think
16:33 yearly was like $18 a month you know if
16:36 you paid all upfront but yeah I figured
16:40 you know it's not for $2 a month I'd
16:41 rather just have it you know a little
16:43 bit at a time then you know all upfront
16:46 yeah what's the task is that every
16:49 connection from every connection yeah so
16:51 every so every time so right now I have
16:53 a cart new order that goes in and so
16:56 whenever Cartland goat order goes in it
16:58 goes into Sundy that's one task
17:01 Wow so I'd like to execute that a
17:03 hundred times
17:04 yeah so if so if you get a hunt so if I
17:07 get a hundred orders in that's 100 tasks
17:10 and I was I was testing several
17:12 different things so I had I had like two
17:14 - zaps going in so I was I had orders
17:17 coming in and then populating into two
17:19 different lists in descend II just cuz I
17:21 was testing some stuff and that that
17:24 obviously doubled the speed of how fast
17:26 I was turning through my tasks and say I
17:29 upgraded to the to the paid plan which I
17:32 was pretty sure I was gonna have to do
17:33 anyway so yeah so you weren't surprised
17:37 now I I wasn't surprised yeah I mean
17:41 it's fine I mean the differing is is
17:43 there for you to test it and kind of see
17:44 how things are working and you know you
17:47 got a hundred things for free that's
17:49 that's cool but yeah you know with with
17:52 twenty dollars a month you get unlimited
17:53 now so I'm excited about that
17:56 yeah that's a that's a good idea it's a
18:00 good idea because then you just you're
18:02 basically funneling people from we are
18:06 saying you check out through car saloon
18:09 into Cindy and what are you doing in
18:11 Cindy so right now I just have it simple
18:13 it just goes to a general list but what
18:16 I'm gonna have to do is in zapier I can
18:18 then say I was actually working on that
18:21 right before we started this call so
18:23 basically you can have logic where it
18:24 says it'll look at the cart loom order
18:26 and say okay if the person purchased
18:29 foundation then also I can say like also
18:32 add them to this list you know so I can
18:35 kind of divvy it up into different
18:36 products now I've you know I'm not gonna
18:39 I don't plan on having a email list for
18:41 every single product but for my big
18:43 products like total CMS foundation email
18:46 stacks
18:46 I'll have separate lists so that I can I
18:49 can email them as well
18:50 separately event you know on top of my
18:53 general you know quote-unquote general
18:55 list
18:57 yeah men if you have you help me with
19:00 that
19:00 sure sure there were some gotchas you
19:05 know that because I was using CloudFlare
19:07 and clock I didn't have SSL on my server
19:12 I was just I was being lazy and just
19:14 using cloud floors SSL and with the
19:17 zapier integration Cindy actually makes
19:19 an API call to itself and when it was
19:22 trying to make a API call to itself over
19:24 HTTP it never actually went out through
19:27 CloudFlare right so when it tried to go
19:30 locally it was getting connection
19:31 refused because there was no SSL
19:33 certificate locally does that make sense
19:35 yeah you know Ernest
19:40 it took me a week to figure that
19:42 out yeah I'm glad I'm glad you figured
19:46 that out for me so I'll have to pick
19:48 your brain later yeah speaking of Clark
19:51 furnaces all I have a point to me real
19:53 quick and this has come up a lot in the
19:56 last week
19:56 you don't need cloud for CloudFlare for
20:00 SSL if your hosts gives you free SSL
20:04 certificates you can use that because a
20:06 lot of people you know I've had some
20:09 people sign up lately for hosting and
20:11 they go through all the activation and
20:13 just use CloudFlare just for the SSL and
20:16 I think that's coming off of you know
20:19 they're watching real max tutorials and
20:21 videos and stuff like that yeah so
20:23 people should know that you know if your
20:25 host gives you free SSL certificates you
20:27 can just use that and we make your life
20:28 simpler may make your life easier yep
20:31 there are the benefits to CloudFlare but
20:32 you know some people aren't gonna be
20:35 technical technical savvy more episode
20:37 on we have an episode on on HTTP go
20:40 ahead and listen to that we talked about
20:42 that CloudFlare is an option if your
20:44 host doesn't allow you to have HTTPS it
20:46 it does make it simple but there are
20:48 some gotchas which I experienced today
20:51 with the integration with zapier and
20:52 blah blah blah but yeah good call
20:56 another thing actually is now that we're
20:57 talking about HTTPS I saw a thread on
20:59 the forum that was asking hey you know
21:02 if my site doesn't have HTTPS um
21:06 you know someone said Oh Google I
21:08 learned that Google actually does still
21:10 index my site and so apparently there is
21:13 a perception that if yours website
21:15 wasn't HTTPS Google would remove your
21:19 site from their entire index that is not
21:21 true
21:21 right it's HCBS is simply now a part of
21:26 a small part of their ranking factors
21:29 where you'll get you know a small bump
21:32 in your score if you have HTTPS it does
21:35 not mean that Google is gonna remove you
21:37 from their database yes yes
21:41 Google never forgets and Google I'm sure
21:46 never delete any data uses it all for
21:50 their machine learning and their
21:52 logarithms so I got a customer today who
21:56 googled like a product that I
21:58 discontinued like I don't probably at
22:00 least five years ago right and for some
22:03 reason he found this link from Google to
22:05 my old product page on my old domain and
22:09 all of this he was like what happened to
22:11 this product and I'm like oh well I
22:13 didn't set up redirects for that because
22:15 I to the new website because I got rid
22:18 of that thing like five years ago and
22:19 Google still had a link to it in its
22:22 database there's nuts yeah maybe that'll
22:26 show up in your webmaster tools yeah
22:28 yeah I need to look at that so you had
22:30 actually add it to do list I need to go
22:32 and make sure I was gonna set up a
22:34 special redirects for all the
22:35 decommissioned products that I had to
22:37 make sure it goes to a 404 page or maybe
22:39 I'll create a custom page it's like we
22:41 we let go of this product you know
22:43 something like that
22:44 yeah I used to work at a company whose
22:47 business described an SEO there there
22:52 Moncho is no 404s whatsoever you just
22:56 redirect any redirect to a page that
22:58 says sorry this product doesn't exist
22:59 anymore go check out other products that
23:02 we have yeah or your or your own page
23:04 okay you know believe you Justin if
23:07 Google gets a 404 on the link wouldn't
23:10 it doesn't it remove it from the index
23:11 or no
23:13 I don't know if it's so much removes it
23:15 from index but it's like it's kind of
23:19 like a slap and slap on the wrists
23:21 you know now your site's generating a
23:23 bunch of knots on pages and we don't
23:25 like knock on pages okay okay yeah cool
23:30 it wants a happy website you know Google
23:36 is just full of happy websites
23:37 everything everybody smiling you know
23:41 yeah well good luck with a little CMS
23:49 and foundation to what's new about
23:50 foundation too so it's gonna be used on
23:54 its gonna upgrade to the latest
23:56 foundation framework which is version
23:57 6.5 so the current version of foundation
24:01 still uses foundation that found served
24:03 foundation framework version 5 so I I've
24:07 been waiting for version 7 to kind of
24:09 come out but 6.5 is super stable um and
24:13 I think it's it's at a good place so I'm
24:15 going to I'm gonna just go ahead and
24:16 move with that and it's also I'm just
24:19 gonna I'm gonna rethink everything you
24:21 know cuz foundation is is a pretty big
24:24 product you know a couple thousand
24:25 people use it and I just I want to see
24:29 how I can rethink on you know
24:33 how can make things better basically you
24:36 know just rethink how the design of it
24:37 is and how we can make it more
24:39 streamlined faster and you know a lot of
24:43 times I see a lot of people making
24:44 websites that are when you look at their
24:46 edit mode it's like insane like all this
24:49 the stuff that they do right so my goal
24:51 is to try to allow them to do more with
24:54 less stacks because a lot of people tend
24:57 to put in way too many stacks and and I
25:00 don't know if it's it's because they
25:02 think they need all those or or what but
25:04 my goal is to allow people to accomplish
25:07 more with less stacks that's my ultimate
25:09 goal Oh sounds like an ambitious project
25:14 yes yes all right sir it was good
