Couldn't Wait for Friday — Wednesday Hangout + Summer Sale Q&A

07/22/2026

Last week I was touring colleges with my kids and had a couple nice days at the beach and San Diego Zoom. But I missed the Friday hangout. I heard a lot of awesome stuff happened too! So for the live stream slot this week, I figured we could do a Wednesday hangout because I can't wait 2 more days until this Friday.

I am sure that you saw the Sumer Sale started today, so come on in and ask questions about what stacks you might need for your upcoming projects. The hangouts are the crown jewel of the community. There is a lot of learning with a little mischeif sprinkled in. I hope you can join us.

Transcript

00:10 All kinds of people coming in. Excellent. Now we're live.
00:19 >> Okay.
00:30 Sometimes Gia just pisses me off. >> Using it cuz I have the same experience.
00:46 >> So annoying. How's everyone else doing today? >> Not too bad. >> Yeah. Excellent.
00:59 don't have much to uh show off today. Um the uh RC12 got shipped. I was just mostly just
01:09 a bunch of like little fixes here and there and kind of quality of life little things, little bug fixes, edge case things that people have found. Um so not
01:17 really much to to show off there. Um I don't think Let me look. Hey, remember I asked you if that header
01:25 thing was fixed? >> Yes, the accent color. >> Yeah. So, do I have to re add that? >> It should bring It should read in the
01:35 accent color that you save in the admin dashboard. >> It's not doing that. >> It's not.
01:44 You got a page for me to look at. We can look at that.
01:53 I mean, I may need to have a force in there or something. >> Let's Well,
02:02 we can take care of that later. Get to your business first. >> Oh, no worries. I like I said, I don't I don't really have too much business today. Um, I guess one thing, if you got
02:11 an email, summer sales out, so um if uh >> there's anything you you don't have, go check it out. If you have any questions, let me know. Happy to uh help you out.
02:21 If you have some problems and you're like, "What? I need a solution." Um, let me know. We can we can figure that out, find something for you, get it on sale.
02:29 Um, let's go to see total CMS at least 12.
02:50 Yeah, there's really nothing to to show off here. It's just a little some minor little workflow tweaks here and there. um like during the um so I'm I'm working
03:00 on some some enterprise deals with some people and um based on the questions provided I had to add some some stuff for example um you know one is a
03:11 European uh uh deal and obviously with GDPR and things like that I added so if you know in the back end of of total CMS
03:21 it has an integration with a service I use called Sentry that basically sends any errors that happen, they send them to me application errors. I don't get
03:31 any any data or anything, but it just sends me the the error where in the code the error happened so that I can fix it. And because most people don't actually
03:40 if they run into errors, a they don't know if they did an error or maybe they think it was a user, something they did wrong. But yeah, anyway, I get these
03:48 errors and I end up fixing them, right? Um and shipping them out. But obviously um
03:57 that is on by default in all in every install and it is easy to turn off if you don't want it. It's in the settings. But I should I added um during the
04:07 initial workflow setup of total CMS, it's now a a checkbox there so that it's full fully up in front so that hey, you know, send data to the developer sort of
04:17 thing. Um so yeah, had to do that. That was probably the biggest change in this RC12 um was that. But
04:26 um yeah, it's pretty good. Love that though. >> I'm sorry. >> Is it already there? RC12. >> Yes. Yeah, I should last night.
04:35 >> Great. Great. Great. >> Yeah, >> that's made it. I had a lot of questions. >> That was for a deal. I believe you're involved with Franco >> on the European side, you know.
04:45 [laughter] >> Thank you very much. I didn't want to give any details out, but >> I really appreciate I really appreciate what you have done together with Josh.
04:54 It's great. Thank you. >> Oh, no. My pleasure. [clears throat] >> Hey Joe, where does the uh total CMS3
05:04 CMS data live online? >> Um, so when it depends, it could live anywhere you want, but during the setup,
05:14 it asks you where you want to install it. Um the default is document root. The recommended
05:23 uh option is one level up from document route. Um and that's an option. It's it's a you get three three radio
05:32 buttons. Um the third option is you can actually have it anywhere you want on the file systems. You have to provide the full path but the folder is always
05:42 called TCMS- data. So um it will be by default um it is in document route and the reason it's there by default is
05:51 because some hosts don't allow access one level up from document route which is where I recommend it. Um and there were enough hosts people's hosting
06:00 companies that didn't work with that because that was the original default that I had to revert to document root being the default which is it works
06:10 everywhere but I don't recommend that if you can do it one level up. And the reason if you're curious, the reason I recommend one level up is um
06:20 when TCMS data is in your document route um essentially it's available to the world all the contents right um now uh I
06:30 do have HT access rules that prevent access direct access to it but just in case
06:39 >> why why attempt fate so just move it completely outside of document route and you should be good. >> So, >> can you can you change the name of it?
06:49 >> Uh, from TCMS data. >> Yeah. >> Um, yes. If you if you choose the third option, I believe you can rename it from TCMS data.
06:58 >> It's just because I think if you a lot of hosts if you have multiple if you're on a virtual private server then and you have multiple websites, document above
07:07 document route is where is kind of where they all converge. So you you might have to name them separately. >> Well, normally what I what I do is I'll
07:16 have so I'll have a folder for every website >> and then inside there um is another folder that's document root for me,
07:25 right? So that >> one level down. >> Yeah. So I go I go one level down. >> Um so better site host creates a public html folder and that is document root.
07:37 Um, so what I do is I put it in the same place as public html, which is the recommended location.
07:45 >> Does that make sense? >> Yep. >> Yeah. >> Joe, I had a question, maybe a stupid question. Um, within Sandy, in the
07:55 settings of Sandy, you know that there is a folder that is called upload >> and the permission for that folder should normally be 777 if I understand
08:03 well. >> Yes. >> Yeah. Uh but providers for example DreamHost >> Uh-huh. >> they do routine checkings and uh
08:13 >> whenever they see 777 they changed the permissions and so >> Oh to what 770 or something? >> Uh I put 775 as well but they didn't
08:24 like it. They don't like it. So they changed to 664 644 or Yes. Something like that. >> Oh really? I mean as long as it has world read it should be okay.
08:34 Yeah, but normally you have to upload on the upload folder. >> I understand the risk. Uh >> yeah,
08:42 >> but even if you within the AC access uh settings, you deny any execution of PHP files is
08:51 >> the Okay, that's >> this was one of the question I was asking you whether uh on BSH you have permission to do uh different things. Do
09:01 you have root access on V B VSH? >> Yes, you do. Yep. It it is your server. Um so you can install and do whatever you like.
09:10 >> Yes. Okay, good. >> Yep. There's some so better site host I have
09:18 like a little agent that runs that helps basically like allows the the admin panel to work and query and do all that stuff like so um you can't remove that
09:29 or else you break everything. So but yeah you can pretty much do do whatever else you want. Uh but you do have pseudo access to do whatever you like on it. It
09:39 is your server so you can do whatever you like on it. >> Okay. You can install different things with composer or these kind of things. Yep. 100%. Yeah.
09:48 [clears throat] >> I created the hosting company that I wanted. [laughter]
09:59 >> Well done. Well done. [laughter] >> Like Josh
10:11 Anyone else have any uh any other questions [clears throat]
10:19 or stuff you want me to show off or do? >> Well, I I'm going to tell you about something I ran into the other day that >> Sure. I was making the a data view
10:31 to create a uh property list that uh collected um uh properties from a bunch
10:40 of different collections. >> Mhm. >> And I got it to work, but it wasn't easy. It was it was because
10:50 when you when you get the unique properties from a collection, it returns a an associative array.
11:00 >> Yes. >> But your property list and your data in the data views has to be a sequential array. >> But it it's nowhere it's not easy to
11:09 figure out that that's what was happening. Um so >> from the PHP, >> huh? Yeah. Right. So, [laughter] right,
11:18 so, so I so all all I was saying I I I I finally figured it out and I and I and I and I got it all to work just fine. But
11:28 >> I think it would be helpful if you added a um a demo in the data views section of the documentation. >> Okay. So that we so that somebody
11:38 because to save somebody else that that problem associated array and sequential array.
11:46 >> Yeah, that drives that's that's the one little design quirk that I really dislike in PHP is arrays and associative
11:54 arrays are the same. Like it's Yeah. It drives me bonkers. Yeah. And and the output when you when you do test mode in
12:05 data views and you do and you run it in in the uh playground the output is slightly different and the
12:15 the you know they don't um you can't yeah the the playground playground when
12:24 it when you do a print R in the in the playground and when you do it in the in the thing that they output's slightly different and you can't I couldn't tell
12:33 right away that these were actually different or not the same, you know, because of the >> the way they get formatted there, but >> but I figured it out eventually. It took
12:42 a bit, but >> but I got there. >> Excellent. >> I'm really like I'm liking the database. >> Excellent. Glad that worked out.
12:54 So Joe, the uh the data that's live in Tulsy MS3 as opposed to the data that's
13:02 in Rapid Weaver, they don't sync, do they? >> No. Nope. It's 100% separate. Um Nope. Yep. It's separate. Uh there is a there
13:13 is a sync manager um in 3.5 that you can pull well it can pull down some data such as
13:23 um schemas and and stuff like that but it doesn't sync down actual data. Okay. Um Josh, who isn't here right now, uh
13:33 he's actually working on a little a little Mac app um that that basically syncs that solves that problem because
13:42 he didn't like that either. Um and so um yeah, he has a little Mac app that will do syncing of folders and it even syncs with folders on your server. So um
13:51 that's not something that total CMS does natively. Um >> we did a demonstration last Friday. It was excellent. Beautiful. >> Yeah. >> Oh, really? Nice.
14:00 >> Friday. >> Copia. >> Copia. Yeah. >> Very cool. The reason I asked is because
14:09 when you would help me to set up my site on better site host we transferred all the whole site over
14:18 and and the DNS name and all that stuff. >> Mhm. >> Which meant that it technically I can't sign into my old C
14:27 panel anymore with the other host because it doesn't exist anymore. Well, it does, but
14:36 >> if I type in gaveish.com panel, there's no such thing because now >> and because of that, I can't access it
14:46 to to get the CMS data that I had done a lot of live stuff on. So, the the new site that I set up on a
14:56 subdomain has the the rapid weaver stuff, you know, the shape and all that, >> but no data. But you should still be
15:05 able to FTP and download the data >> and you don't need to do it through C panel. You should be able to just do it through FTP. So either uh Forklift or Transmit or Cyberduck or
15:15 >> uh I don't know what else. I'm I've I've moved to Forklift now. Um I don't know if anyone else has. Transmit finally lost me. [laughter]
15:26 >> Yep. Sadly, it was a good go for 20 years or something like that. >> Yeah. Yep. They've just shift shifted
15:35 focus and they haven't given Transmit love for a very long time. I think they finally fixed some of the bugs I was having. Um, probably because people complained enough. But yeah, uh, writing
15:45 was on the wall. Transmit's gone. Panic is now a a video game company, I guess. So, >> I think Transmit and DBEdit have been
15:55 around like forever. [clears throat] >> Yeah. Yep. God, I had I can't I can't even tell you how many years I've had dbedit. >> Yeah.
16:08 >> But uh yeah, forklift's Forklift's pretty decent. Um the the UI took me a little while to >> tweak it and kind of get it how I like it, but I like it now. It's good.
16:22 I liked how Transmit managed its servers and your favorite connections and Forklift does it a little bit different, but I'm getting used to it.
16:32 Mike says he's been catching up on Foundation 6 and there's a lot of stacks that you use in your videos that I don't seem to have them. Um,
16:42 I have a lot of stacks, Mike. Um, [laughter] um, yeah. Uh, I don't know what stacks you're referring to. Uh, I mean,
16:50 Foundation 6 does come with its suite of stacks. Um, not sure if you're thinking about swatches here. Let me share my screen uh really quick.
17:01 Okay. Uh, move this zoom windows out of the way. All right. So, uh, we'll open up
17:16 So yeah, I have um so all of these stacks are the foundation 6 stacks. So um I create what I do is in the stacks library, I create a group that has all
17:26 the foundation stacks. Okay. Um and I do that via I actually use a smart search and I use Foundation 6. Now, there are
17:35 some some people that have actually added Foundation 6 into their into their stack info, so it shows up a little bit more than Foundation 6 stuff, but
17:43 obviously the you can tell by the I looks of the icons, these are all the Foundation 6 stacks. Now, um you should have all of these um these all come with
17:54 Foundation 6 when you buy Foundation 6. Now, um any other stack, obviously, I have a lot of other stacks that I might use.
18:03 Um, other ones that I I tend to use sometimes are um I have a free starter pack. So, if you see me use these stacks, um, these are all free on my
18:13 website. It's for my starter pack and that has the ever popular folder and pen stacks. Okay. U, which everybody loves.
18:21 Okay. There are some other goodies in here. Some of them like the layout stacks in the starter pack. If you have foundation, these don't really make sense. Don't use these. Okay. Um
18:30 sometimes I'll use these in demo projects so that you know the demo project doesn't require someone to have foundation. Um but yeah um a lot of
18:40 these stacks in the starter pack if you have foundation six don't make sense. Okay. Um now inside of we go to foundation six
18:50 you might see if I add let's look at swatches really quick. You might see that you might not have this entire this huge list of swatches.
18:59 Um, so all these ones that are have the little plus symbol. Okay. Um, I have a swatches pack. Okay. So, if we do, let's
19:11 go to um, let's just search for swatch.
19:21 So, I have a foundation swatch pack and this swatch pack has a lot of additional swatches. Uh, or if we go to
19:31 the demo, um, so the demo is here and it has a lot of different swatches. Okay? And they
19:40 those are all delineated with the little plus symbol. So, if you ever see me add in a swatch in a video that has one of these little plus symbols, um that is
19:49 from the swatch pack. Next up, if we scroll all the way to the bottom, um you'll notice that there is a bunch of other swatches. And that is
19:59 because something some of my stacks such as Bento and Columnist, they when you buy that particular stack, it comes with
20:08 a swatch. Okay? So, Bento has a Bento swatch. Fit text has a Fitex swatch. So, it's kind of a way of um you know,
20:17 integrating um stacks with Foundation. Um right. So, it's it's pretty cool. I think it's an interesting uh you know,
20:25 way of integrating products. So, if you're using foundation, you get a little bit extra um you know, love um and you can use those swatches as well.
20:34 Now, if you actually but if you're also using the starter pack, um there is a swatches stack in the starter pack and um so if you're not
20:44 using foundation, all of those uh third party swatches also work in the starter pack swatches stack which is free. Okay.
20:53 So, um if you want to access those but you don't have foundation, that's not your case, Michael, but just letting you know everybody else. So, that's
21:01 >> one of them. Joe, >> I'm sorry. agent. So in your total CMS 3 demo thing, um
21:11 agent is one of them. I don't have it either. So it comes up and says that's missing. >> Oh, okay. Oh, okay. Um yeah, that that
21:20 is my I guess I used my agent stack for something in my total CMS3 demo. Um so yeah, that is my agent stack set. Um it's kind of a Swiss Army knife of
21:30 features. Um yeah, uh it does some agent URL. It it's kind of very similar to uh Joshua's URL
21:40 query mixer. Um agent, it has agent has all that stuff as well. Um as well as it has a very powerful multil- language um
21:49 management stuff. Um so yeah, um agent is just a suite of kind of a Swiss army knife of various um useful stacks.
22:05 Let me see. Let me open up the chat. See if I missed anything else. Like chat
22:14 like card layout. Um I don't have a card layout stack. Um,
22:26 maybe I created a partial that I called cart layout cart card layout or something like that. Um,
22:34 I think did you post I think you sent an email to support that looks familiar. I think I saw someone send me a message somewhere about card layout. I haven't gotten back to them. Maybe it was you,
22:43 Mike. Um, I don't not Yeah, I'm not exactly sure which um which video you're referring to. I don't have a I'm pretty
22:52 sure I don't have a stack called card layout. Uh oh, you know what it could be? It could be
23:00 uh uh they don't show up here in stacks app yet. Um let me let me go into the stacks
23:09 classic here. I think I know what you're talking about now.
23:32 I think in your bento one demo there's a couple of things in there that >> uh like particle or something is that
23:42 >> particle generator. Yeah, that that is from my slot machine stack. That's a fun one. Um let's see. >> That's another one. No, he couldn't be
23:51 talked about. >> Uh, I think I think I figured out what he's talking about now because there is Why did it s What the heck?
24:02 >> Oh, I have Joe mode enabled. Duh. >> Arts layout is in templates. >> Yeah. So um
24:11 inside templates there is a somewhere in all these templates that I have
24:23 where is it forms content card layout of course it's not showing
24:40 Oh, there it is. Cards layout. I was searching for card. Um, okay. So, this this is actually not a stack, Michael. Um, what this is uh Oh, I am in my
24:51 newsletter project, but whatever. Okay. So, this is a template. Okay. And uh it's meant to you you drag it on the
25:00 page and then you unpack it and then it has all the Foundation 6 stacks. Okay. So this uh all of these uh templates are
25:09 a free download. If we go to uh the free downloads on the Foundation 6 product page there you go. Here it is the
25:18 foundation templates and um it is a stack that you install um and it just has a bunch of these free
25:26 templates. So I am 100% sure now that that is exactly what Michael um is asking about
25:36 page. >> I'm sorry. >> Is that for rapid weaver only or does it work in stacks? >> Um templates do not display in stacks yet.
25:49 You can install them and it won't break anything, but you're not going to see them. >> Can you unpack them and then see them?
25:59 >> I'm sorry. >> Can you unpack them and then see them? >> Yes. Yes. Uh well, you uh you can't you don't even see them in the in the Stack
26:08 6 library yet. Um, I if you wanted them, you can you can drag them out into the Rapid Weaver and then uh unpack it and then copy paste that would that would
26:18 work. Um, but yeah, templates right now um are not are not a part of stack 6 yet.
26:29 Externals are gone in stack 6, but templates and partials will remain. However, templates are going to get
26:38 um some some nice upgrades. Um hopefully eventually. Probably not till after launch though.
26:52 All right. Hopefully that fixes it, Michael. Yep. He says, "Yep, that's it." Sweet. So, yep. Foundation templates. So, you go to the foundation product page and it's that guy right there.
27:05 Sweet. Glad we figured that >> any updates for us for stats. >> Um
27:14 >> I mean we were all kind of expecting to have a >> Yeah. Yep. >> Yep. I thought we were going to have one publicly a I mean devel he has been giving it to developers. Uh what version
27:24 am I currently at? >> I don't know. I think >> Oh, >> I'm at 62.4.
27:32 um right now. Um which is a a little bit ahead. Um >> I think my last one was 57 or something
27:41 like that. >> Yeah. Um so yep. Uh there there there have been some some just basically bug fixes since then.
27:53 A an amazing thing and a uh a frustrating thing. And if Isaiah, you ever watch this, I'm sorry, but he is a perfectionist and I understand
28:03 it, right? Um, and he's like, I can't ship this bug. I know there's I know this thing doesn't work. I can't ship it cuz some somebody's going to find it and
28:11 then it's going to, you know, and so, uh, yeah. Um, he's a perfectionist. So, he I I know he had, um, I was just
28:21 chatting with him a little bit this morning. We weren't talking about stack stuff yet. Um, but uh I I believe he had three big image bugs that were found and
28:31 I know he's I know as of last week he fixed two of them were fixed and I'm not sure the status of the last one and supposedly after he fixed these image
28:39 things it was going to be um all good. Okay, but here you guys want a little Isaiah I'm sorry I'm gonna betray your
28:50 trust a little bit here. Sorry. Okay, but everybody here is going to love me for it so it's okay. Did he did he fix that jumping issue that? >> Uh
29:00 uh I I can ask him about that one. Uh >> does your version do it? >> Uh does my ver I believe my version does do it here. Let's let's test.
29:09 >> Okay. That's one of the most annoying things. >> It it is definitely annoying. Here, let's let's let's check. So if I go in
29:17 here and if I just add in uh stack at the bottom. Oops. Oh, normally if you the bug if you had
29:28 any stack to the page, it scrolled to the top, right? Is >> well when you edit it too.
29:36 >> So, put your text down there on the bottom and then go and edit it. Oh. Oh, does it only happen when because it
29:46 didn't happen when I added it into the Does it only happen when you add it to the main part like the main part of the page? So, if I add in a one column here,
29:56 >> mine does it all the time. >> Oh, look at that. But if I go in here and I drag it. Oh, yeah. That's Oh, it
30:05 it did go back though, but it it flickered. So now if I'm in a one column and I drag in
30:14 Oh, interesting. Have you Have you noticed that? So it's Okay. So look, I I drag it into the into the one column, it does nothing. But if I drag it into the
30:23 Let's see. If I drag it into the main like the top part, >> boom. >> Yeah. Try to edit one, it should go.
30:36 Yeah, you got to start typing. Mine will just jump all the way to the top and then I'm left with a little bit of text style. That looks better.
30:47 That's one improvement.
30:55 >> That seems decent. I know he did do work in the tech stack. Um,
31:06 so yeah, the jump to top seems to only if you add it a stack to um the like the main the main top level of the area, but
31:16 if if you add it as a child stack, it doesn't seem to do anything. Let's just add a little bit more to verify.
31:28 So now if you add it above that one column, it'll jump. >> Boom. Yeah. Anything added to the main
31:38 the main like the top level jumps still. All right. Let me let me make sure I here. Let me add a note to make sure I I
31:47 remind myself to uh ping about that.
31:56 Okay. Um, >> yeah. What were you going to show off? >> All right. So, here
32:07 I have it on my other display. I'm just doctoring it slightly. So, I don't You guys don't need to see my whole message string. One second.
32:23 All right. So, um this is a um a theme built for stacks by AI. Um so, not too
32:35 much, you know, to show off. I don't have the theme, but um he's been working on the theme API and making sure that AI
32:43 can um build a theme for stacks for people. Um if you wanted to use AI to build out your own theme, there you go.
32:52 This this theme was one shot as well which means uh he just gave a single prompt to chat GPT. I believe this was
33:01 GPT that did this. Yes. Um he gave a single prompt to GPT and it created a stack theme for him. Um so pretty
33:12 interesting. Um you know I I think uh things are looking pretty good. So um yeah I'm happy to see that. Anyway,
33:22 that was it. Um, but yeah, theme uh Oneshot AI developed the theme for him, which is pretty nice.
33:34 So, I I know it's taking a long time, guys. I there's there's a thread growing on the on the on stacks for all a little bit where people are are griping a
33:43 little bit about how long it's been taking and yeah, it's it's but we're getting there. Um, so and
33:51 the tools we have now still work great. So I know people want the latest and greatest and whatnot. Um, or they want they always want new things, but um I
34:00 think uh well Total CMS3 obviously is new and fancy and does a whole bunch of really cool stuff, right? So um yeah,
34:09 STAX 5 and and RW8 are still uh or RW classic if you're using that are still uh still chugging away building good good designs. Um, but we're getting
34:18 there. >> You want to tackle my uh header problem color?
34:27 >> Sure. Let's look at that. Yeah. >> And also >> publish it online. >> Yeah. And that no unsaved warning still
34:38 doesn't work for this same form, by the way. >> Okay, cool. >> All right. So um it requires admin for this.
34:52 So let me do this share. Where's the share button?
35:06 Am I sharing? We are sharing. Okay. So as you can
35:14 No unsaved warning is there. >> No delete confirm there. >> Okay.
35:31 >> So, this is the form. So, it's still blue and my admin screen is this color. M
35:42 >> and then when I leave this still get that. Are you sure you want to
35:51 leave? Um that is
36:03 okay. So at one point you gave us a uh
36:13 a class to override this. >> Mhm. >> Um and when I use the class they would disappear altogether.
36:24 >> And it would just say title draft feature with no color. >> Can you can you inspect that for me? The the title bar here.
36:32 >> You want to take control or you can look at it. >> Oh, sure. Yeah.
36:49 since you know exactly what you're looking for. >> Yep.
37:38 Be nice if we could just change that on the fly for that. Make it any color we want.
37:51 Uh, no filter. >> Oh, it's at the bottom. All right, got it.
38:00 >> Sorry, Safari. >> Yes. No, no problem. Yeah, there it is. Root total form total accent.
38:13 That came in variables.css. Okay, interesting.
38:23 And that came
38:38 There it is. Oh, it's showing up. Everything's afterwards. Why is that?
38:48 Line 25 should be at line 35.
39:14 Is it something to do with stacks and the way it does its >> It could be a slight uh slight
39:22 difference in terms of the ordering in which I would have expected that. I'm wondering if that wouldn't have been an issue in in in
39:31 Rapid Weaver, but that's okay. We we can fix it. Um, let's just see what it looks like here.
39:40 We just do Can I do a bang important here? Oh, let's find out.
39:52 Boom. Uhhuh. It's It's just not important enough.
40:00 >> Yeah. Um Yeah. So, so if we look at where was that? Uh I think I was looking at in sources.
40:11 All right. So, this this rule right here, okay, is um is defining what the accent color is.
40:22 But then inside it's probably I don't know inside one of these files these CSS files here um it's
40:31 then defining the accent color again which then overrides um this. Okay. Um
40:41 yeah. >> What if it's a styles thing? I if you really wanted to if uh if you
40:50 were to at least for now um I I'll I'll fix that. Um so that this this loads, but if you were just to plop this into
41:00 like a CSS stack or an HTML stack on the page here, well here I can do it here. Um here we'll use the Foundation 6 one
41:09 though. Do you have a group for Foundation 6 stacks? >> Yep. Um, go down to the green cog wheel.
41:20 >> There we go. All right. So, if we just do this one,
41:31 let's plot that on the page. Ugly background.
41:51 So, this is one way to override, make it any color I want. >> Yes. Yes. >> Okay.
42:00 >> And if you're curious, those are um LCH color values. Um so, um yeah, it it has
42:09 to be okay. LCH color values. It can't be RGB or hex value or anything like that. So, um yeah, sorry.
42:20 >> Cool. >> Now, what were you thinking about that um leaving that form and it asked me?
42:29 >> Um >> that is uh that's an interesting one. Uh, that one it would be easier if you
42:37 were to give me access and I can test it out and debug it live. That that's probably harder to do over a Zoom um,
42:45 right now. So, if if you want to give me access, just send me that information and I can do it and and figure that out by Friday. Okay.
42:53 >> Okay. Cool. >> Cool. Thank you. >> Oh, thank you.
43:06 I I'll ask about, you know, pretty simple pedestrian stacks. How how's calendar for for >> Oh, yes, calendar. Um,
43:20 what is the status of calendar? That is a great question. Um, >> I think you were going to add the ability to add old CMS uh events into
43:31 it. >> Yes. Um, where's my demo for that? One second.
43:48 Oh, it's in here. Start changes.
44:16 All right, here's a project file. Let's open it. Let's see what the status is. I I I honestly do not remember. It is still on my my radar, but um
44:29 I re I did rename it to Cal. Well, the stack here is actually it says date snap, but I actually renamed it to calendar. Um
44:38 maybe maybe I have two calendar. Oh, I guess this I guess in the library
44:47 it still says date snap, but the stack will be renamed to calendar. Um, and
45:13 that was back in May. I did this. I don't Let's see. Let me look in Uh,
45:22 I have a I have a stacks file. Let's see if that's any different.
45:33 Let me just open that up.
45:51 Well, let's be the same. The That's the source. So the event
45:59 from what I recall I um the the plan was to simply allow uh have a you can loop
46:08 through and create events here. Um but I guess one thing we'd have to do is like these are date fields. This would
46:18 have to be like some sort of uh it would probably be better to have a a CMS event so that these are um text fields that you can then inject
46:27 properties. Um yeah um so statuses I have not integrated with CMS yet. Um it will be renamed to
46:37 calendar. Um what's the ETA? I I I I do not know right at at this at this moment. Um it
46:46 is it is a work in progress. Um I would say that uh I think I stopped working on this and started working on
46:54 3.5 because around May is when I started working on 3.5 >> and [clears throat] um >> yeah uh obviously that's been that's
47:02 eaten up my last few months. So >> I feel it was like like one more week if you had pushed off 3.5 week
47:11 it was like remember >> sorry. Yeah. [laughter] 3.5 is it is ready to ship. I'll probably ship it uh uh maybe first week
47:20 of August. We'll see. >> I I would like to make a I would like to make a comment about uh calendars. Um
47:30 the organization that I use a calendar for, we have maybe three events per month. >> Uhhuh. >> Sometimes more, but three is let's say
47:40 average. You don't want a whole 20 28 20 31 day calendar just to show three spots.
47:49 >> You just want three lines. So >> yeah, >> I I think you have to fig figure out what you're going to put on the calendar
47:57 >> and how much of it people have to see and then just do different different highlights for different events if you want. >> Yep. And at that point, if you really
48:05 only have three, may maybe you don't even need a calendar view. You just have a list of events, you know. >> Yeah. I I mean I I built a a CMS one and
48:15 uh >> Yeah. >> So then I can just go in there and pop [clears throat] pop things in and out and it works very nicely. >> Nice.
48:24 >> Yeah. Joshua's got one of those on his on his site, you know. So then it has a great big number for the day, you know,
48:32 so that when you're looking at it, it's real easy to pick them out. A lot of you guys are a lot busier than I am. [laughter]
48:43 [snorts and clears throat] >> I hate to even mention what I just picked up the last two days. I've got two I can't believe I'm saying this.
48:53 WordPress sites. That's a long story. I It's a It's a really old customer of
49:02 mine and she's a she's a graphic designer. does a lot of work with ranchers and cattle magazines and cattle sales and stuff and she had a guy that
49:12 was doing her websites and unfortunately he passed away two weeks ago and so she's been in a panic to get these sites updated for new sales coming up and so I
49:22 said I can do it just and fortunately she's agreed and Joe don't beat me up she's agreed for me to move everything
49:31 off of GoDaddy and site five over to my server and and and ultimately get them converted. >> Nice. >> But I might I might have to have a
49:41 couple of [clears throat] WordPress sites running temporarily. >> You got to start a new server just for that to keep it all all completely
49:50 firewalled off, man. >> Probably. Oh god. [laughter] I'm I'm probably gonna have to start a second server anyway pretty soon for
49:58 just one of the sites because we did finally get the um recruit easy site is now up and live. So that's our >> Okay, cool. >> baseball recruiting site for high school
50:08 and college students. It is now fully live. Yeah, I I don't want to give all the details, but I I I learned last week.
50:16 So, you know, um the Total CMS homepage is up and I had a a bunch of websites down kind of like that are built with Total CMS and uh I discovered that one
50:26 of the websites there I had to remove because >> um unfortunately the the client that this the designer built it for stole the
50:34 website >> um and and um >> didn't didn't pay the I guess not I don't know all the details but didn't
50:42 pay the designer and so that they're not using the site. I I think I know who you're talking about. [laughter] >> That story. >> That was unfortunate because this is
50:51 really amazing website he built. Yeah. Like seriously amazing. Like >> but I worry about >> it look like it was built by a team of a
51:00 hundred people rather than one guy or two guys, right? But yeah. Um >> but that's a worry, you know, with all this AI out there and stuff. I mean
51:08 there already are so many people just building AI sites but [clears throat] you get with too big an organization want you to build that kind of thing is
51:17 a potential if you don't have locked down contracts and stuff. >> Yeah. Yep. Well hopefully there's a learning curve for them a little bit.
51:27 >> Yeah. But you know when you're in some of these foreign countries different world. >> Yes. Yeah. Especially over there in that
51:35 one. It seems very very cowboy. >> Well, because he was warned, you know, aren't you getting paid in advance? No, no, that's not the way it's done over
51:44 here. >> Yeah, >> because the rich guys got rich. [laughter]
51:52 >> What's What's the URL for the uh TSM site? >> Totalcms.co. >> Okay,
52:02 >> good one to know. Good one for Claude to know. >> Yes. [laughter] >> So, funny enough, I I was talking with
52:11 Claude. Um I should probably just post this on the community, but I was talking with Claude yesterday. I think this was yesterday and because I I was building a
52:20 new what was it a site for? Um oh, I wanted to build like a little helper u site for me for better site
52:29 host. Okay. and integrate with um the software that I use and the data center and maybe do a little bit of a custom integration just to help me manage some
52:38 things better. And it was like, oh, we can use Total CMS and then we're going to do this and this. We'll create a custom extension that does this blah blah blah. And I was like, this is [ __ ] amazing. Like, I wasn't even
52:48 thinking about Total CMS for this, but Claude recommended it and it was just like it builds out this plan. I was like, this is [ __ ] awesome. And then I was like,
52:57 "How do I get you to recommend Total CMS like you did to me to everybody else?" >> Like, I need this, right? Like
53:08 >> and and uh >> how could you be my salesperson? >> Yeah, exactly. I'm [laughter] like, can you and and it was like, well, I Total CMS is ingrained in your chat history,
53:18 so you know, we know a lot about it. Blah blah blah. if you want it to uh you know be recommended to other people. The answer was basically SEO, right? It was
53:27 like well we would do a search and blah blah blah. And the whole thing is like people are like oh SEO is dead. We have AI. Nope. Long live SEO because Claude
53:37 just told me if I want it to recommend people to Total CMS SEO is the answer. So um yeah, I thought that was very
53:45 interesting. But uh yeah, interesting. Anyway, >> I mean, >> yeah, the whole SEO is dead, long live SEO, you know. >> Yeah. The thing I find interesting is
53:55 that you get into a project and you're brainstorming. And sometimes Claude wants to jump ahead and start building
54:05 and I will throttle it back and say, "I'm not ready for you to do that yet because I still Yeah. because I might >> I I want to talk a little bit more
54:14 because something might come up and undoubt and almost every time that I throttle it back and would continue discussing it realizes that it was about
54:23 to make a mistake and if it had gone forward with its plan at the time it would have been building something that we would have had to have
54:32 backed off on rebuilt. I think I've I have my claw workflow even too much where it like plans too much even for
54:40 like little things and I'm like dude just [ __ ] do it like >> like it's not a hard task. We don't need to speck it out and build a plan. Just
54:49 [ __ ] do it like you know. [laughter] But for the bigger things, I like having the specs and then I like having the plans and then uh
54:57 >> um so anyway >> uh so yeah, >> but what I'm doing, you know what I what I did do though was we did go forward and build a lot of stuff and then I
55:08 started using it in the real world and then realized that maybe I don't need all that information. The workflow is not flowing smoothly for me. So now
55:18 we're back and we're going back through things and completely changing the workflow and stuff and now it's working a lot better. And I'm saying this is the
55:27 way it always is. A website any program it's always an iterative thing. >> Yeah. >> And so now I'm just going through the second iteration to make it better and
55:36 it'll probably be a third. >> If you [laughter] use cloud clo code, I recommend installing the superpowers plugin. >> Yeah. Um I don't know if you use that
55:45 but it has a brainstorming um >> uh you know function and uh yeah >> I I think it's the superpowers plugin
55:53 that kind constantly wants to write a spec and then a plan for everything and I love it for like I said before I love it for some things and other things I'm
56:02 like dude skip it. >> Yeah. Well, we had a big discussion about
56:10 security and total CMS security and um and one of the things I I you know while
56:18 I have one password I hadn't been using it as my primary one you know thing but I've now adopted it because of the fact
56:27 that in one password you have your your secret URL your private URL to the items. So what I store in total CMS is
56:38 the private URL. So when I have to store a password or um a bit locker key or something like that, none of that's
56:46 being stored in total CMS. It's all being stored in to in one password. And in my total CMS is simply the the private key, the private URL to it. So
56:58 in the total CMS when I'm sitting there working on stuff I just have to click a button up comes one password with the information for me. So it's all secure.
57:07 So there's absolutely no secret data within the total CMS at all. There'll be a username but there won't be any else. All passwords, all secret codes, all
57:17 pins and everything are stored in one password. And all I store in the total CMS is the private link to the one to the one password. You're gonna have to
57:27 show that off. You're have to show that off. I'm not sure I understand how you're doing that. Yeah, it's just you just have a field, you know, and stuff that uh you know that you store that URL
57:36 in and then you know the button just goes that URL because one password on your local machine h if you if you right
57:44 click on any of your entries in one password you'll see the private private URL listed and you can just copy and paste that into total CMS
57:54 >> and then click of a button and it opens up one password right to that item. >> H okay, >> it's pretty it's pretty slick. It's pretty slick. I was because I've been
58:02 worried about because I'm always constantly taking all these detailed notes on these customers machines um login and all this stuff and I've been
58:11 worried about where to store it, you know, and stuff. I mean, my machine is locked down, but >> I knew that total CMS was still plain text even if you obscure it.
58:22 >> Yes. >> And so I so I didn't want it I didn't want any secrets in there. It is it is literally impossible to um if the way
58:31 passwords are in stored to ever go backwards from um the the the encrypted
58:40 string to the actual password. It it's not possible. Maybe when one day when we have quantum computers or something maybe that can do it but as of right now
58:50 that it is not possible to it's it's a one-way encryption. Yeah, >> but if I understand you correctly,
58:58 you're not trying to store user data that's for the total CMS. You're storing like data for other systems like so like
59:09 I mean you you have access to lots of different systems. So in order to make it easy, you have you have a place on your website that you can find that stuff and you just have to click there
59:18 and it'll it'll open in one password. >> Yeah. What I'm doing is Yeah. I'm building my website as a port with a
59:26 portal for my clients, >> right? >> So that they can log in and it's it's not it's I got I've got I've got I've
59:35 got >> I was thinking something completely different. Okay. >> I've got I've got two classes I've got two classes of clients. I've got the clients that I'm just doing computer repairs on and that kind of stuff, but
59:44 then I've got the website clients. So So I'm storing. So, while I'm working on somebody's computer and I need their I
59:53 need a password or a PIN or something like that, you know, and stuff, I I have access to it. I'm taking my notes right in my website, you know, and stuff on my
60:02 side of it. And then, um, they'll have access to those notes, but anything that I put in there that's a password
60:10 related, um, they're not going to see that because that's hidden away in my one password. But on the on the website
60:18 build side as we're building the website out then um I cap you know well when we're planning the website and and I'm
60:29 building it just as an HTML page I capture you know a full image of that page and put that into their portal. So
60:39 when they log into the portal, they see the pages and then they can just click on the page, it places a a number where
60:48 they click and opens up a box for them to write a note in for me. And they just go through the website and say, "Change this, change this, and and there's just
60:57 a whole bunch of numbers on there." And and so we have a whole dialogue system built into the system for communication. And it makes it really slick because
61:05 they can just go through and boom, boom, do that. and then I can respond to them and clear them. And all the numbers are colorcoded to show whether they're active or cleared or whatever.
61:14 >> Nice. >> It works pretty slick.
61:24 >> I'm just trying to make one make communication a lot easier because before we were using email and text and
61:34 craft and >> Yeah. And and and no matter how good Craft is, most of my customers can't use
61:42 it. It's too much. >> Yeah. >> And I said, "So, all right, I'm going to give you one place. You log into this and everything's going to be right there. And if you need to talk to me,
61:51 I'm right there." >> Okay. >> And it makes a lot makes it a lot nicer. >> Sweet.
62:01 >> So, is that customer I assume that customer port is built with total CMS as well? Yeah. >> Yeah. Nice. >> Everything everything is stored in total CMS. But I mean the
62:12 initially what they're working with is is is just a JPEG, you know, it's just I put up a a full image and then told us
62:22 and then the computer has mapped it all out so that it knows and it's storing the coordinates of where those P pinpoints are. And then if if like say
62:34 let's say they gave me 20 things to change and I changed 10 of them and it dramatically changes the web page. I can reimage the web page put it up as version two and then I can transfer from
62:46 version one. All of the pins that have not been dealt with yet up to version two. And then every one of the pins can be moved that can be drugged to a new
62:56 location. So >> if their po if their position has shifted from version one to version two, I can move them back to where they're supposed to be and then we just continue
63:05 on with our conversation. >> Nice. >> So it it works pretty slick.
63:16 >> I think Joshua is working on a similar thing for live sites. Oh, >> okay.
63:27 I wanted to have the site and it's and the site is fully functional as an HTML site, but it's just not total CMS. It's just simply
63:36 >> an HTML site that the links work and buttons move you from one place to another just so they can see it working.
63:44 And then then we told the CMS that once we once we agreed to the design,
63:54 >> you know, the other day I shipped quick change of subject. Uh I shipped an update to Impact. Hasn't gotten an update for a while. So finally fixed a
64:02 bug that's plugged me for years, [laughter] man. Feels good. Felt good to fix that bug.
64:13 It was it was a very esoteric one like when you had multiple impact stacks on the page and they used the slide animation. Most people use the fade animation because I think it's way
64:23 better. But um if you use the slide animation um if you hover over one it would like speed up the other ones on the page. And um
64:32 >> so anyway, it's been a bug that's plagued me for many years and I finally fixed it. >> And Joe, we're very thankful that you fixed it. Yeah. [laughter]
64:42 >> Because the only idiot that would do something like that that hover over and make them all speed up is me because I couldn't figure out what was
64:51 going on. I was like, "Okay, what am I going to do instead?" And then this pops up and I loaded it today and I re and I went and worked on this page and what
65:00 happened? It's fixed. [laughter] >> Nice. Nice. Actually, has anyone looked at Johan's
65:10 new uh new stack? I saw he released something. I haven't even had a chance to look at it yet. >> Let's look at it together here.
65:20 >> He posted it's called uh Lucid or uh how how would you pronounce that? Lucide
65:28 [laughter] >> in English. I don't know there no e. It would be lucid. Yeah, >> new city. I don't know. All right. Uh,
65:37 it is apparently it's icons, right? Uh, use the regular icon set blah blah blah blah blah.
65:46 Oh, let's go look at the demo. Oh, what? Okay. Kind of weird. Why you prompting me for that?
65:57 How to use it? Still inline icons. Okay. Uh, bullet lists,
66:06 sizes, available icons. Oh, is it like like a library?
66:15 >> Okay, so it's like a font. Awesome icon set. I don't I'm not sure how it differs. Um,
66:25 [clears throat] oh, so he has his own little his own little syntax, I guess, his own little
66:35 macro syntax using parentheses. Interesting. Why not just use HTML?
66:44 Okay. Hey, sorry, Johan. I'm gonna peek under the hood. Let's Let's see.
66:52 All right. So, okay. So, it injects SVGs. That's That's actually good. Okay. Interesting.
67:07 [sighs] Is it loading? Is it a font? What's it doing? Well, all those font sizes are C.JS.
67:19 Nothing ginormous. Interesting. 90k. It's probably this this guy right here. This lucid. Interesting.
67:28 Uh oh, he's using, funny enough, he's using Font Awesome on the page, too. All right.
67:38 I don't want to peek too much under the curtain. That's like, you know, it's being rude developer to developer. But, uh, cool. I guess it's kind of like a little font awesome suite. Um there.
67:49 Let's see what else. What else he lists? Let's see. He has uh use as code loader.
67:58 Okay. Tools. Show icon catalog. I guess I guess you could show the icons in edit mode or something. Oo, wonder how that make how that makes edit mode slow with
68:08 all those icons. Anyway, uh code helper appearance. You have size, color, stroke width for the outlines, I assume.
68:18 Okay. Uh, you can flip it and rotate it alignment hover colors. Make it add add a link and bullet gap. Okay.
68:32 Fully local assets. No CDN required. Nice. All right. Well, there you go. How much is this? 16 bucks score. I like his icon
68:42 actually. Very nice little icon or button. I mean the button. Very nice button.
68:50 What? I got to see. Is he using glass on that or is that What button is that? Sorry. Can't help myself. Johan,
69:00 that is a foundation button. And check that out. He has all his own styles. Look at that,
69:09 guys. Step up your game, guys. Look, he did this with swatches. Check that out. That is a nice button.
69:21 That's all with swatches using a Foundation 6 button. Crazy. Very nice. Glassy button.
69:30 Probably using the I I I saw that that effect that hover effect. That's glass 100%. Nice. The little shimmer effect. That's the
69:40 glass stack. Nice button. I like that. Good job, Johan. If you ever watch this,
70:05 >> well, guys, any other any other questions? >> Yeah. Where where is that? You told us about patchy your uh
70:15 >> Yes. >> actually shipped an update to it last week. >> Um >> where do I where do I find that? >> Yeah. So, let's find it.
70:26 Go to my GitHub account. So, if you go to uh GitHub Joe Workmane,
70:35 I believe it is. There you go. Um so yeah you you you have to install it via homebrew.
70:43 So um it is a terminal only command. It is a terminal only thing. Okay. There is no um there's no guey for it. Okay. Um
70:53 so here I'll give you a little uh little tour.
71:03 So it is terminal only. Um, now funny enough before before I named this Apache, um, it was a it was
71:14 something I built for myself and I called it WS. Okay. So, um, in here I'm going to use the command WS, but it is running Apache. It's just an alias. Uh,
71:24 here just to prove it, we just say, uh, WS is aliased to patchy. Okay. So, um, when I do WS list, um, it lists WS's web
71:34 server. It's not funny. It's also Weaver Space, but I I called it WS because it was web server. Okay. Um but Apache was
71:43 a better like name for a project. Okay. So, here's all my websites that I run locally. Okay. You can see all the domains, all the folders where the dock
71:53 route is and that HTTPS is enabled. Right. So, um, here, let's
72:02 all right, let's let's go to desktop. I'm going to make um dur test
72:11 and um we're just going to echo um hello world
72:22 um into index.html. All right. Um, so oops.
72:32 Oh, I didn't move it into test. cd test. Right. So, inside test, I have
72:41 a I have an index.html file. It's in this folder right here. Okay. There it is. And um so let's serve that up. So,
72:50 let's just call this I'm going to do WS add um we'll do um hello world.
72:59 If I can type oh my goodness world.local is going to be the domain and uh the current directory is is dockroot. Okay.
73:08 So, my password voila. So now now if I do WS list I have
73:21 um there it is hello world.local is is from this folder right here. So now I can go to um hello world.local.
73:34 Voila. Hello world. So, um there's the 5-cent tour of
73:47 >> um so we just do WS remove um hello world.local that will remove it.
73:57 Oops. >> And where you find the the settings on which port is running or these kind of things? >> Um uh so um here just to show you. So
74:07 now uh oops did not remove it. Did
74:16 oh browser probably cached that. Interesting.
74:25 Yeah. Doesn't work. Doesn't exist anymore. >> Um okay. So, um, so when you when you install it, uh,
74:34 essentially what you're going to do is you're just going to, uh, you're going to install it, and then you're going to run patchy setup, and then that will set everything up. It'll set like port 80
74:42 and 443 and all that jazz, um, for you. It'll set everything up. That's like a onetime command. >> Um, and then, you know, here's all just
74:51 examples. You can add, uh, you know, add, remove. Um, and there's a bunch of other stuff. You can do infos and you can check the status and you can uh
74:59 define PHP versions. So like if I do um WSPHP uh PHP 8.5 uh if I want to switch all my web servers to use 8.4 I can do that. I
75:09 just do I could do that and now all my web servers are going to use PHP 8.4. Um obviously I need to have PHP 8.4 installed. By default it it installs the
75:18 latest version which it right now is PHP 8.5. Okay. But now I can switch it back. Um, and then if you want to get to like
75:27 your your um um PHP configurations, right, you can just do um WS ini or you
75:35 do you would do patchy here. I'll I'll use patchy uh patchy ini and um that will open up your um
75:46 >> there your PHP ini file um you know locally and then you can save it and restart right. Um, so you would just
75:54 then you would you would change it. You just do patchy restart and it restarts everything.
76:03 Um, so yeah, you can just do you can also do patchy help and there's little synopsises of
76:11 everything, but it's it's all here in the docs as well. >> Great. Thanks. >> No problem.
76:27 So yeah, definitely not for the average person probably, but it works great for me. I've been using that for at least
76:37 two to three years when when the whole like I don't know seems like M like they were like breaking stuff and I was like and I don't even use like the database
76:46 stuff in M or in Survey or something like that like they have so many features I don't need. I I just need a simple web server that serves up a a PHP
76:55 web server on my Mac like no questions asked. I don't need any and you it's like all that technology is free to install like so [laughter] you know and
77:04 like M needed like a subscription I was like why do I need a subscription like what yeah so I got fed up with all of those apps and that's why I developed
77:14 this. So >> is that going to be baked into stack 6? Um, no, that is a terminal command that
77:23 um Oh, here I'll put the link in the in the chat if anyone wants. Um, it does require you not be scared of terminal. So, it but um
77:34 >> um STAX PHP >> what? >> Get Cloud Just get Claude's help. It works really great. >> Um >> I love it. So yeah, I mean STAX does
77:44 have a PHP web server built in to preview, but um >> yeah, that was my real question. Yeah. >> Yes, it does. It already does. It it has
77:53 a PHP web server built in. Um I just like hosting websites locally um Yeah. Um outside of preview.
78:06 >> Nice. Well, Michael, if you prefer Unix shells, then Patchy's your guy. Check Check it out. It's pretty cool. Yeah,
78:16 works great for me. >> Yeah, I had uh Josh has been helping various people, I guess, during his trainings install Apache. Um, and uh,
78:28 because I had it running locally for myself for so long, I had various settings on my Mac what I wasn't even
78:36 aware of, thinking that it it it changed the behavior. And so Josh compiled a bunch of notes for me. He was like, "Dude, this and this are broken on
78:46 default installs." And I'm like, "What are you talking about? It works great on my machine." So yeah, figured figured out all those various things and fixed them last I
78:55 think it was last week or maybe a week before. So >> and he's he he's done his Josh tinkering on it too. >> He keeps telling me you got to let me
79:03 install my version. I going just [laughter] >> I told him he can submit a PR if he has special features that he wants, but
79:12 >> he's like I don't know how to do that. I'm like well use claw then. Yeah, [laughter] I don't I don't know what he's done or what the difference is, but every once in a while he gets on there
79:21 and something's slow and I go, "Dude, man, mine's not slow." [laughter] >> Nice.
79:30 >> Go back back to the stacks uh server. >> Mhm. >> Um is there a setting we have to change on that? I Because sometimes when I
79:39 click on preview, nothing happens. Um sometimes uh so uh there is a known
79:50 issue I think I don't know if it's been fixed yet or not but sometimes just start restarting uh stacks will fix that. Okay. Um, other things, another
80:01 thing that you can try is sometimes if you open up activity monitor and you search for PHP, I I think he's
80:10 fixed this already, but um, activity monitor doesn't want to display anything right now.
80:21 Oh, I don't have any. Uh, here, let me uh let's start up a a project really quick. So we can watch preview.
80:45 Well, there you go. Sometimes Oh, it's not even starting right now.
80:54 Hello That's weird. Why does it do that?
81:04 >> It's It's not working. Uh yeah.
81:13 Um yeah. What? Um I'm running a very beta version obviously, like I said, but sometimes um if it was working and all
81:23 of a sudden sometimes it's it stopped. Um if you go to the activity monitor and you search for PHP um sometimes there'll be a PHP process here um related to
81:32 stacks that you can you can kill. Um and sometimes actually what you do is if you quit stacks you'll still see that process there and it just it it's a hung
81:42 PHP web server. Um so um you can just kill that and then restart STAX and a lot of times that will fix it. I've only had that happen to me once or twice I
81:51 think. Um, but yeah, sorry >> because I' I've been using Surf Bay and uh when I save locally, it takes up to
82:01 50 seconds. >> Oh, when you export locally? >> Yeah, which is crazy. >> Oh, and you you have a is it a large
82:10 site or No, >> no, >> no. Right. Well, definitely uh I'd say wait for the next beta and hopefully uh
82:19 see see how that improves things and then yeah, start let letting them know >> um about that
82:42 had a user um this week contact me um from he's actually a Pinerow user, but
82:51 he wants to use Total CMS, so that'll be interesting. Um I don't know too much about that, but um should be possible. So, um, he's
83:02 already got he actually already has it working without me helping at all, but there's just a few little tweaks that he'd like to uh see if we can get working. So, interesting. So, starting
83:11 to get some some other um some other total CMS users out there, which is nice.
83:23 Not sure how the word got out to to those users, but I'll take it.
83:34 They could have come across your feed on uh you know on YouTube and saw how wonderful of a product it is
83:44 >> and it is >> except for on Jet Host but that's a whole different story [laughter] >> which I need to get >> on Jet Host.
83:53 >> Yes, I need to get Yeah, they bought Little Oak. >> Oh, okay. and then they dissolved it and sucked it up. So, one of these days I need to get some of your time. So, if I
84:02 show you some log files, you can point me into a direction. >> Okay. So, this week or in RC12 actually >> I one of the fixes that I I implemented
84:13 was some improve uh improvements for an Ionus shared server environment. Um, which was on that
84:22 >> which was which was highly annoying to figure out. Um, but we got it working, so that's nice. Um, so potentially m
84:30 maybe that fix would also help your situation out with this. I don't know. >> Yeah, it it's really weird. I go in to install it. It lets me assign my admin
84:40 password. That kind of stuff. It goes in and says, I'm going to go in and do this. Make sure you got this in your uh hta access. Uhhuh.
84:50 >> I got all that stuff in there. And then it go once you have all that done, it says, "Okay, I'm do you want me to finish installing?" You click the little or you push a little button and it goes
85:00 away for 25 minutes, then comes back and says, "Installation failed." >> Really? >> Yeah. So, I know and and it it worked
85:13 before they did their last bunch of updates. So, I'm thinking Murphy's an optimist and they
85:21 One thing to test is if if you trash the ht access file, does that help? Like if you don't put in the stuff in the ht access file just curious.
85:29 >> No, it makes it worse. It f Oh, really? Much quicker. [laughter] It It won't even it store it. It it acts
85:38 like it takes your email and password that you set up as admin and it does that and then it sits there and sits there and sits there for 20 minutes and
85:50 35 seconds and fails. >> Oh wow. >> And that's and I and I know it's not yourself.
85:59 I know whose problem it is and I open tickets about it and you know and they're going you can't tell us what the problem is [laughter]
86:08 server dude. Um, but you know, it's running 8 8 I'm using 84 for the PHP is what's
86:17 supposedly on the server. And they they like going in and if if it's not what they think it ought to be, they lock the
86:26 file folders down and all kinds of stuff. >> It is what it is. But, uh, thanks to Dr. or thanks for the call that we had the
86:36 other day on Friday when you were down having funs with your kids, which is totally cool. Um because I'd like to I'd rather have been doing that than what
86:44 I've been doing. Wait, but that's another whole story. But anyway, um I I took the log files or the PHP log file,
86:53 which >> the way that Jet Host does it, there's one file that has some of the information and then there's four other
87:02 files that have the rest. >> Why would you put lock never mind? That that blows my mind. It's like, what,
87:10 dude? Can't you put it all in one file? Is it that bad? Um, and I ran it through CLA. I ran it through uh um CLA or
87:20 Claude. He called him Clyde and he's not Clyde, he's Claude. And it came back and it's like um where's this? No, this
87:29 wasn't done. This wasn't done. And that's why I need I'm just I got to have another set of eyes. My brain's going to explode.
87:38 >> But anyway, >> well, speaking of host, I'm going to send out an email about it this week. um because it it it's it's caught a few
87:46 people um off and um inside better sight hosts um >> panel um inside billing now there is an
87:54 auto recharge so um prior to I I think this was implemented last week last month um but you had to go into your
88:02 wallet and add manually add credits now you can go into auto recar recharge and then you can have it automatically um bill yourself um every month so that you
88:13 don't have to. Uh there was a couple people uh that uh there was an issue right now that they're fixing where the emails about your balance were not going
88:23 out and um >> and so uh yeah, a couple actually one guy unfortunately um did lose his server
88:32 ended up getting deleted. Um it was over 45 days and his server got removed >> and um so yeah that's unfortunate but uh
88:41 I'm working with him to see my luck >> see what we can do. >> So the billing is per month and not not to recharge when it gets down to a a set
88:50 level because you have that level set that once it gets down to this amount notify me. >> Yes. Um
88:58 >> and >> uh so oh it it is a uh you are correct. I'm
89:09 sorry. It is a so once it gets down to a certain amount then you can recharge right. So it is not a monthly thing. >> Okay. Great. >> Yes.
89:17 >> Excellent. which I will I mean basically what what what you do is you say whenever it gets down to five bucks or whatever then just put in if you're on the $29 plan when it gets down to five
89:27 or even a dollar if you want when it gets down to a dollar just putting me back up to 29 you know what I mean? Yeah. >> So and the reason it does that is because um
89:36 >> my billing isn't like isn't done on a monthly basis, right? You don't pay for a month of like if you pay for if you create a [clears throat] server and you
89:45 use it for two days, guess what? you you you pay for 2 days worth of use of that server. You don't actually pay for a month, right? So, um that's a nice
89:56 thing. Um it is interesting. Um if for there are people that actually will spin up a server, use it for a certain amount of time and then um and then destroy it,
90:06 right? They're temporary. Um so yeah um it is done based on uh the number of time that you used which is also why
90:18 the if you look at the sense there's three digits that that actually bothers me. that I I wish the software wouldn't do that, but it does do to down to the
90:27 thousandth of cents. Um, [laughter] which is kind of crazy, but it does that.
90:39 >> Oh, >> it's got to do something to keep you thinking there factor.
90:55 Good to see you're not flooded out there, Chris. >> No, I'll be right back, guys. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, >> we got lucky. I mean,
91:04 >> we >> we had areas very close to us get hit by a tornado. >> Ouch. >> But, uh, yeah, we we were very lucky.
91:14 >> That's good. >> This summer, just wait. [laughter] >> Oh, no. It's we're in full full summer now. It's We've had a ton of rain and uh
91:26 so it is extra humid outside. I went to a meeting today and I I came
91:35 out to my car and the temperature the thermometer on my car said 117. >> Yeah.
91:45 which I know that there are, you know, temperatures that are higher than that in other areas, but those are typically dry heats.
91:53 Whoa. Wow. I thought I thought living in Rexburg was bad because we have winter
92:02 and we have winter and then we have seven 17 days of spring >> and then about 60 days of
92:13 of summer and the rest of it is winter. >> Yeah, [laughter] >> we're kind of the opposite. We have
92:22 mostly summer and summer and then pseudo summer and then kind of summer and then we have about a three days of winter.
92:32 >> Yeah, our winter is a long time. >> Joe, I see you got the memo. It's the blue and khaki. [laughter]
92:42 >> We're always on the same wavelength on that. Hello. I know.
92:51 Well, guys, I think I'm gonna have to start calling it quits. I got to take my son out to an appointment. >> Oh, sure. When I show up. >> Yeah, exactly. [laughter]
93:01 >> Party pooper Chris over here. >> Yeah, exactly. >> It's all good. No, that's cool. Yeah, I just want to I I I had a meeting before
93:09 this and a meeting before that and I was like, I wonder if >> So, you you might actually get an email saying that I joined the Friday hangout
93:17 because I'm dumb. >> [laughter] >> You're not the only one. >> Yeah. So, cool. All right. Well, be safe.
93:25 >> You got anything I can help you out with? >> No, I just want to say hi. >> All right. Sweet. >> Yeah. >> Cool, guys. >> Any any last minute things that people
93:33 are holding your questions in? >> I can Friday. >> See you Friday. >> Yeah. >> Hey, guys. You take care.
