00:16 talk about an interesting discussion
00:18 because things in the World Wide Web are
00:21 changing a little bit right so we're in
00:26 2016 and everybody knows we're on the
00:30 world wide web
00:31 okay we know now traditionally websites
00:37 you can have WW website.com right let's
00:41 take my website Jill workman dotnet you
00:44 could have ww2 workman net and it would
00:47 work and you could have just Joe workman
00:51 net and that would probably work too but
00:55 things are changing okay
00:58 it's 2016 let's ditch the WW like we
01:04 know we're on the World Wide Web
01:05 now why do I say this okay the reason
01:10 I'm saying this is because web browser
01:14 vendors are changing now who want to get
01:18 technical right
01:19 ww Joe work Manette is what is called a
01:24 sub-domain it is a something dot Joe
01:31 workman net such as I have Foundation
01:34 dr. Wickham in.net right completely
01:37 different website it's tied to the the
01:40 parents Joe or net domain but it is a
01:43 foundation sub domain I have CMS Joe
01:48 workman net
01:49 I have sandbox Joe workman dotnet right
01:52 all of these are subdomains of Joe work
01:56 from net which is my route you know my
01:58 main domain well guess what ww dot or
02:03 community is a sub domain it's just a
02:06 subdomain of Joe or command net okay now
02:11 from a security standard okay what
02:16 browser vendors are locking things down
02:19 and what does that mean to you okay what
02:23 this means is browsers are now
02:25 considering WWJ work Minette different
02:30 than joe working net right because it
02:33 really is it is just a subdomain and
02:35 what they're doing is they're stopping
02:38 you from cross accessing assets okay
02:42 between domains now there are some
02:46 workarounds right some headers and HT
02:48 access rules that you can add right but
02:51 okay this the simple fact is that from a
02:55 security standpoint browsers are no
02:57 longer allowing you to to request an
03:00 asset from a domain from another domain
03:04 even if it's just a subdomain of your
03:07 root domain man that's a lot of domains
03:09 right okay so what that means is if
03:13 let's take for example font Pro is a new
03:17 stack that I have out recently right and
03:20 it allows you to manage font files okay
03:23 on your own inside rapidweaver so you
03:27 can load your own font files inside your
03:31 website now let's say I how did the URL
03:35 to my font file as Joe workman WW Jill
03:39 workman net slash my font dot wofe okay
03:43 which is a hoie file so I've put in the
03:46 www subdomain in the link to font Pro
03:51 now if I go to Joe workman dotnet in the
03:55 browser the root Joe work window net
03:57 without the www right my font file will
04:02 not load okay
04:03 well depending on the browser some
04:05 browsers will and depending on if you
04:06 have developer mode turned on right
04:08 there's a bunch of ifs right but the
04:11 root of the thing is most browsers will
04:14 not load that font file now because
04:17 you're attempting to load it from a sub
04:18 domain so what do we do Joe
04:22 right how do we
04:23 fix this the simple solution is to pick
04:28 one either your website is on Joe
04:32 workman net your route domain or your
04:34 site is on wwg workman net as simple as
04:40 that that is the simplest solution is to
04:44 pick one okay now there are rules a lot
04:49 of times in your cPanel okay and your
04:51 host your host should have an option
04:53 that says you know redirect from ww
24:57 root domain so like for example if right
04:59 now you go to WWJ workman net okay it
05:05 will take you automatically to joe
05:08 workman net so this way people are
05:13 automatically routed to the website that
05:16 I want them whether or not they typed in
05:18 WW or not it just works now if you want
05:24 you can go the other way right you can
05:26 make it so that if someone goes to Joe
05:28 or could not net it automatically takes
05:30 them to WWJ or connect it is completely
05:34 up to you but you should choose one okay
05:39 now there are rules like I said in
05:41 cPanel of your hosting company a lot of
05:44 them have you know with a click of a
05:45 button you can choose which way you want
05:48 it's common with a hosting companies now
05:51 if your host doesn't have this option
05:54 there are rules that you can add to a
05:57 dot htaccess file and this htaccess file
06:01 it's about two or three lines that you
06:03 could just copy and paste okay
06:05 directly into the file and it will do
06:09 all that redirecting for you so you can
06:11 either redirect 2ww or redirect from WW
06:14 okay but pick one and deal with it okay
06:19 now other places where this makes sense
06:22 that you have to do this is with things
06:25 like total CMS because total CMS is an
06:28 application okay
06:30 it is making constant calls to and from
06:32 the server okay and so browsers are
06:35 making sure that
06:36 you know there's no malware and that the
06:39 origin request is coming from the same
06:42 exact domain okay this is why it's
06:46 important that we handle this now I'm
06:49 kind of beating a dead horse with this I
06:52 feel right but it is important I hope
06:54 you understand that browsers are locking
06:57 things down okay dub dub dub is now a
07:01 sub-domain okay it is not considered to
07:04 be the same right
07:05 it is a subdomain of your root domain
07:07 pick one and deal with it make sure that
07:10 your rap Weaver projects inside the
07:12 general settings your web address make
07:14 sure that has which one you want right d
07:17 are you gonna use dub dub dub or are you
07:19 not I prefer no no w w because like I
07:23 said we know we're on the world wide web
07:25 it's 2016 okay ditch it you're good okay
