00:09 everyone doing today this is how I kind of feel today I'll be perfectly honest with you it's my first cup of coffee Marco Leon
00:23 Gunter thanks for coming guys excellent um so yeah just a quick thumbs up on the audio I don't want to be hot it looks like that levels are getting a little okay hopefully let's see if that's any
00:43 better um yes a cup of joe but um never heard that one before Chris Paul thanks for coming Martin excellent okay so um
00:56 Rory it started um I have some cool stuff oh come some new toys I got this week I thought it'd be fun to share so just came in like literally like five minutes ago um so if you don't I'm a Philips hue fan
01:09 not quite as much as the infamous big white duck TAV but I did just get some new hue lights for some new displays that I'm getting tomorrow so yeah my Mac
01:21 Pro uh you know I have a 2010 Mac Pro I mean justice camera a little bit so Ivy
01:35 2010 Mac Pro and I don't I still have the original Apple Cinema displays and they're beautiful displays they have served me well for almost 11 years now and really happy with them love them
01:49 this Mac Pro has been the best machine I have ever purchased in my entire life hands down it will continue hopefully running for me for a long time but I am replacing it as my main machine it
02:03 cannot run Catalina and so what I'm going to be doing is I'm going to be upgrading and using my MacBook Pro as my main machine and to do that I actually bought two new displays
02:17 um I bought two of the LG 5k displays they show up tomorrow really excited about that about using some retina displays that's not the laptop right so that'll just be really nice I've never
02:30 used a huge retina display and I'm gonna have two of them I'll prank keep the same monitor configuration than they have now I have one horizontal and one vertical display um I quite like that I'm used to it now um I think I'm gonna
02:44 stick with that um so I'll have to retina displays 5k displays and I am looking forward to that um but you know I I do a lot of video work hence these live streams as well and I'm a little
02:57 nervous about trying to push that with a MacBook Pro right now I know definitely for sure when I do video editing like the MacBook Pro is gonna be falling
03:13 short um so what I got sorry I'm starting off completely off topic and I just leaked that I'm still wearing my PJs but I just got this okay it is uh well can you see the name whatever
03:29 wherever the light is it's a black magic it's the external GPU for its the pro version um it's kind of cool it's Space Gray so it matches my laptop which is kind of cool I like that
03:41 I haven't even plugged it in yet it just got here last night and yeah someone's saying yes I have little puppies this is their first live stream that I've let
03:55 them out so we'll see how they do hopefully they're not gonna be chewing
04:08 on my cables in my office this is right now the kids want to name this guy Iggy I don't know about that he's a great dog
04:22 so yeah please let you know about the external yeah I will definitely be letting people know about the external GPUs I'm a little nervous about them
04:35 because um a that external GPU um it was pricey right it was really expensive and the reason is that is the only external GPU that will power a thunderbolt
04:47 display and those LG 5k displays our Thunderbolt 3 and so I really wanted to get like it ok now what's bad about that GPU is it's like I can't upgrade it
05:02 right the GPU that's in it it's in it I can't rip it out and put in a new graphics card in the future if I want right so it is that's not a good thing but it's Apple corner of the market
05:18 right Apple so that is the only external GPU right now that will power the 5g the the LG 5k displays so it's unfortunate but um I was kind of shoehorn into that it would've been really cool if I could
05:31 just buy like my own external GPU case and then buy whatever GPU I want later that way in the future if I ever wanted to upgrade the GPU I'd just buy a new card slap it in there right but with
05:44 that said the card that's in there is at least two maybe even three times faster than what I've been using for the past few years in my Mac Pro so you know and
05:56 everyone on YouTube I've watched a ton of videos and everybody says that while that external GPU is way too much money for what it is for the card that's in it everyone says it's rock solid it works
06:10 really well um it is faster than most other cases I guess has something like I tighten something or other I don't know but anyway so it's put in the case and it's ultra quiet so people said it's on your desk you don't even hear it compared to
06:26 other external GPU units so I I expect I probably paid like a $300 premium for that particular product but hey we'll see I am really excited displays come tomorrow III got a thunderbolt doc
06:41 got a little a little a little stand for my laptop too so I could I could put my laptop in this stand and then I'll plug the Thunderbolt cables onto the sides and I don't we'll see um so yeah they come tomorrow by tomorrow night so maybe
06:54 Friday it'll be my um my kind of my building kind of working around and playing around and moving things up so I'm really excited about that oh you have a new 16 inch MacBook Pro nice I
07:06 have a 15 inch a 2016 15 inch MacBook Pro with the touch bar um that the 2019 16 inch looks absolutely phenomenal so my wife needs a new computer with probably in the next year probably wedding in a douzo I'll give her my
07:20 laptop and I might upgrade to that or I might wait for the 2020 MacBook Pro to come out or whatever the next release is whenever the next update is um say anyway yes and I think about squirrels
07:34 hey see squirrels on my shirt this one my favorite shirts I like this shirt okay well I just killed 10 minutes just chit-chatting about various things so yeah exciting stuff and uh but what you
07:48 guys came for today is some really sweet updates that I released I released it last week I think finally it all merges man lately I've been I've been putting in a lot of hours lately so um I did a
08:02 really so really nice update I I worked hard last night to get some updates out to make sure that some stuff I want to show you guys today was kind of working so a lot of really great updates not
08:14 just a foundation 6 but all the other updates recently have been for foundation 6 right so we had total CMS which is we're gonna be going over a lot today I'm using total CMS inside
08:28 foundation 6 then what is called action was another one and of course a lot of really great updates to foundation 6 itself so without further ado let's go ahead and now actually I have to admit I
08:41 haven't I mean used my this MacPro and a couple days because I've been on my laptop I'm trying to use that as my main machine and I mean just quickly make sure that the project file got synced over
08:54 properly and it looks like it did nice like when things work actually you know what one thing I am pretty excited about and while I'm chatting here let's go
09:07 ahead and get my share ready one thing I'm pretty excited about is not having two machines actually you know there so
09:21 we could see me better okay cool um not having two machines will be nice like just having one machine and not having to make sure that my files are synced and oh shoot I left that on my unsynched
09:33 folder on my Mac Pro I got a you know get in the machine and copy it down and wait and right so I'm really excited about that so I am a little nervous also about storage a little bit because my
09:48 Mac Pro like I have storage raids in there and I mean I have more space in my Mac Pro than I could ever care for I did buy a two terabyte Thunderbolt 3 SSD which was Bank like holy crap um and
10:01 that just showed up this morning I haven't even played with it but apparently it is wicked fast so um you know 40 gigabit speeds to writing to this SSD I'm excited about that - yeah I
10:14 got the Samsung one maybe I could do a another dedicated livestream about how that's going for me in the future so that I don't eat up too much more today but yeah I got a lot of cool new setup
10:26 coming on so I'm excited about that but let's start diving into some of the cool updates that we've done so let's go
10:38 to this total CMS page okay so um I guess I'll go to the big thing first right kind of what the headline of this was today and now make sure if you guys have any questions go ahead and plop them in into the chat room as I'm going
10:52 and I'll try to answer them as I as I go along if I see them okay so okay the new thing the new hotness is inside foundation six menus this is
11:08 limited to foundation six menus is when you click on this plus button now if you have total CMS 1.6 okay you'll see that we have total CMS blog menu wow that
11:21 sounds cool what does that mean right so what that means is that we can now generate entire menus based on a blog so imagine we can generate what are some use cases for this let's say we want to
11:36 generate a menu that is all of our blog categories okay never the this these are menus so I mean it could just be if you aren't generating like a nice little link list okay that's me blow your menu or something like that or a vertical
11:50 menu on the side right um that contains all your categories okay you could do that you could do maybe a menu of all the tags that are in your blog and then when you click on those right it takes you to the blog list that's pre-filtered
12:03 to all the blog posts that contain those tags or the categories or the authors right pretty cool another thing that we can do is I mean because we have some really good filtering let's just look
12:15 there it looks um let's look at that simplest example possible right I'm gonna delete this because this particular example is not the simplest
12:28 example so okay let's go ahead I'm gonna
12:41 add in a new menu new menus you just I'm just gonna do it like a normal just a default menu okay just a kind of a boring menu flat out menu okay um so what you do is I your gonna delete it
12:54 adds a menu item by default um no actually what what you could do is what's interesting is with this you could actually mix and match static menu items and blog menu items right so let's
13:06 say you wanted let's go ahead and add a Tulsa mess blog right um let's say this one was um all posts okay I guess all right or just call it home I guess right so let's say this particular menu item was
13:20 home and then you would just link this to the home page just like you would anything else okay and then when we add total Seamas blog menu um let's look at some of the settings here ah let's see do I have okay good it's all that
13:33 configured so let's look at the settings for this blog menu okay and if you notice I'm gonna change the CMS ID to be blog because that's the the idea of my
13:46 total CMS blog then we have the settings for our query okay and we can do a query based on authors categories tags or posts okay so let's say right now it's keeping the default categories who I
14:00 want to build a menu of categories so all the categories that are used within every single blog post will be then basically you can also do filters
14:12 so you could say like I only want to filter for future posts or only past posts things like that and even if you're filtering categories let's say I only wanted let's say featured and I say
14:26 I only want featured items okay what's cool is this is smart enough where it'll only pull cuz we want categories it'll only pull categories from posts that are featured right and you can do the same thing for drafts so you can say
14:40 only drafts display posts before I'll post so you know there's an order to this if you notice these filters this the same exact filtering system that's in the blog filters stack okay same
14:53 exact logic here so and also if you do you know featured before I'll post basically all the featured stuff will be first so on and so forth okay so let's do feature display with posts this is gonna be the
15:07 default behavior right if you want you want featured posts you want to hide drafts so let's say you have a couple posts that are drafts and those have unique categories that that no other non draft post has because we're hiding
15:20 those those categories aren't going to show up pretty cool okay so that's kind of the whole query system okay so we can kind of build what our query is and this is similar to a lot of the total see my
15:33 stuff before so this should hopefully be familiar to you if you're using total CMS already now let's look at the some specific settings for author categories and tags menus because there's kind of
15:45 two different types of menus because authors categories and tags when you click on those you want those to link to a blog list page right because that's what's you're gonna filter for because
16:00 if I have a category of travel right I click on that I want to take it to my blog list page and it's gonna automatically filter everything based on
16:12 the category of travel okay so what we're gonna do is we're gonna say link to blog post and basically what you're gonna do is you're just gonna click set link and then this is just gonna open the normal um you know link dialog
16:25 you're gonna link to the blog post bars I'm sorry you're gonna link to the blog list page okay so that's what you can do there now if you notice there is another
16:38 option here um add posts as submenu what this will do was will do an example of this um after but what this will do is it'll create a submenu so when you hover over the category it'll create a submenu for all blog posts that are within that
16:53 category oh right really really cool stuff okay and then we have some some word formatting similar stuff to filters so like a lot of people have tags and categories that are like acronyms or you want to have specific formatting so if you want to make sure they're all
17:08 lowercase all uppercase or if you want to have the acronym detection so if you want to detect if it's a two or three letter acronym you it'll make it all caps stuff like that okay and then the
17:22 second option is if we're doing some blog post menus we'll get to these but basically to have some sort features and you can limit the number of blog posts okay that's important because if you have a thousand blog posts you don't
17:35 want to generate a menu for a thousand things right it's gonna be ridiculous so based on your sort it'll take like like by default the top ten stuff like that okay so with that done we have this done
17:49 here I'm gonna go ahead and publish I do have to say these menus they only work on publish if you preview it just has like a filler dummy menu inside preview so to get the full effect we're gonna have to publish to get everything okay
18:05 so um okay there we go
18:19 let's visit I saw someone ask does this work in easy CMS um since easy CMS doesn't have a blog no easy CMS is limited to simple text images video and
18:33 I think that's it right image text video I think and toggles um and speaking of easy CMS is the deal of the week that is a an amazing deal if you ever want to
18:47 get in on easy CMS like it's only available this week at that discount so um yeah I think it's 40% off um amazing deal if you don't have easy CMS I think that's a no-brainer purchase I think
19:01 total CMS is a no-brainer purchase but easy CMS even is more because you just buy it once and you can use it on as many websites as you want so that is definitely a no-brainer purchase right there okay so at the top here you'll see
19:15 that we have a menu again I just did a simple menu and it automatically generated a menu with every single category pretty cool right that's that's pretty slick and if in the future if I
19:28 ever um you know add more blog posts and create new categories well guess what it's gonna automatically update my menu I don't need to do anything it's all automatic it's 100% dynamic it is done 100% on-the-fly
19:45 so that is pretty amazing right really amazing so hopefully you guys are seeing I saw a couple couple you guys say that this is a really huge feature this is a ginormous feature like this is immensely cool especially when we start getting
19:57 into some other stuff right so oh and one thing I wanted to note is um I close the browser didn't want to do that back up here well as we notice up here
20:11 remember oh hold on you can't see that move it down okay um if we scroll in here remember that first menu item is the home link right so we you can intermix these with your your menu so I
20:24 had my home menu then I have all my categories right pretty cool um you know it just kind of adds to what you already build inside your menu which is slick
20:37 okay um let's go back and let's do something else so let's go ahead and build out a drop-down list I think that'll be a common one right so let's do a drop-down menu I'm gonna have just
20:51 the total CMS menu this time actually no yes I'm gonna do a drop-down menu okay blog menu um and essentially I can do the same thing we did before Carolyn zoom in so you can see my settings a little bit easier I'm gonna
21:03 set that to be blog I want to do categories and but this time I'm gonna do add blog posts as a submenu okay and then yeah and then we'll sort by newest
21:15 first set that's fine or if you want we can sort alphabetically we can sort the blog posts alphabetically sure why not yeah and let's publish that so that's it right I mean pretty easy I have a
21:28 drop-down I added a blog menu and all I did is I put in this whole CMS ID um the submenu I don't have a blog list on this demo project so that's why I'm not linking to it here but you would link to your blog list um you know if
21:41 you didn't want to link to your blog list essentially um let's let's do that um actually no let's let's publish it as
22:03 okay there we go refresh and voila
22:15 look at this check this out I have my categories and when I hover over them I get sub menus that have all the blog lists or all the blog posts here's one that has multiple if you see
22:28 they are sorted alphabetically that is really amazing right I am pretty stoked about that like I mean this this really adds a lot right and we could change it up if we
22:42 want let's say let's do authors okay I'm gonna publish by author so what this does is um I'm sorry I kind of did that fast I switched the top level menu instead of being categories it's gonna
22:57 be authors right okay so let's go ahead let's preview that there we go we have all the authors with all the blog posts
23:10 for each author alright again this is all done dynamically on the fly pretty cool okay cool so what else can we do um
23:23 I'm gonna go ahead and let's build out something I want to show you how we can integrate multiple instances of this blog thing into a single menu right so what I'm gonna do is I always make this a little bit bigger um I'm gonna add a
23:40 menu item and we're gonna let's zoom in so you can see this a little bit I'm gonna do two authors okay so I did that
23:53 as authors and what I do is I'm gonna say add submenu okay so I created an author's top-level menu you see that it's an author's top-level menu and then over here in the settings I said I
24:05 wanted to add a submenu okay now I don't want this default menu item so I'm gonna delete that and I'm gonna click the plus and I'm gonna add a total CMS blog menu so on the top level of an author's menu on
24:18 underneath that I'm gonna have a blog menu and what that is going to be is if you might guess I'm gonna have this at the blog and I'm gonna set this menu to be the authors so that I'm gonna have an author's top-level menu and then dine an
24:31 it's gonna dine a mcclee build a list of all the available authors as a sub menu okay um and I don't want to I guess what you could do is you could actually add another sub menu if you wanted actually
24:43 I never done that let's do that for fun okay um we're gonna add a sub menu of all the posts for each author as well which is kind of crazy I think that might be a little far but as it actually has let's do it how I would recommend you do it first
24:58 um so we'll do that okay um and then I'm just gonna replicate that for let's go ahead and do categories I'm gonna go here I'm gonna change that to be
25:13 categories and over here we're gonna do tags and we're gonna change the that to be tags and then on the last one instead
25:26 of um you know instead of posts I want to do featured blog posts right so we're gonna do featured posts okay so in the blog menu let's see how do we do that right we go over here I have my I'm
25:39 gonna do posts but then I'm gonna go I'm gonna do only featured posts okay there we go
25:59 awesome okay let's refresh okay so now if you see at the top here I have
26:12 authors if I hover over authors I have all my authors I go to categories I have all of my categories I go to tags I have all of my tags if I go to featured posts I have my three
26:25 featured posts right this is how we can really create dynamic you know menus on the fly and again you know if I add any tags they'll be added here if I add new featured posts they're gonna be added here as well if I'm gonna add new
26:38 categories or new authors all this is dynamic okay now it was a fun thing I'm gonna add a third level submenu so here I mean I mean tried this I've never done the three level thing but I'm gonna go ahead and authors and I'm gonna say add
26:51 posts as a submenu I can do the same thing for categories I'm gonna say add post a submenu and you're the same thing for tags so I'm gonna say add posts to submenu let's publish that again this should work but I've never actually
27:04 tested this part so nothing am i doing it live right okay cool there we go so we've go to authors and then we go to
27:16 author and then we have a little blog post for the authors Wow again categories and all this is 100% dynamic I'm saying that a lot sorry
27:31 there we go there's not a lot of shared tags and this is just some test data that I had so the quality of the data is not that great but as you see it's pretty slick right um really slick so
27:44 I'm really excited to see what you guys build with this and you can you can use these I did them with here err let's build out an example of with a with an accordion I guess right with an
27:58 okay so we build out an accordion menu how we can do this actually you know
28:11 what I should do I wonder how this exact menu is gonna work in an accordion so I'm gonna add this we're just gonna take
28:24 okay I'm I'm intrigued on how this is gonna work so I have the same exact many structure right we have authors and then on the blog's categories tags featured
28:38 posts and then the subs of those are all the actual CMS items let's see how this works again this is another thing I've never tested before in theory it should
28:57 totally work though okay okay so now we have now accordions accordions work I think better in like a sidebar or something like this goes full width right but we go to authors we have authors if we click on grahame-smith guess what it automatically links down
29:10 to all the blog posts Joe workman here's all my blog posts right I go to tags I can see all my tags go to beach there is the blog post within
29:24 beach right this is it's really cool oops this is going to I clicked on it I didn't set up a blog post page on this site so that's why that didn't work um this is um this is crazy powerful all
29:41 right yeah really really really really really cool stuff so yeah that's an accordion you can do the same thing for all the many laughs all many stacks support these
29:55 blog lists right so you could do the drill down the menus the accordion menus you're another option actually let's let's do a normal menu okay um and actually what I can do is what we're gonna do all of this well I'm gonna move
30:09 these into a normal menu stack now the normal menu you think why do you have a submenu in there normal mini that's gonna look like that's gonna look horrible all right um what I'm gonna do here I'm gonna turn off the sub post cuz that's
30:32 chasing me way too much yeah oops okay um so here I have the author all the author category tags and the submenus items I just turned off the soda have a third menu tier okay um now this doesn't
30:46 really make sense on a horizontal menu okay here let's I'm gonna publish this just to show you that how this won't make sense because the menu has no animation right there's no JavaScript it's just static HTML um and this I
31:06 and as you see what it does is it just creates this static what you would think would be a dynamic drop-down but it's just all static HTML okay this looks horrible
31:19 okay um but where might this look good okay uh where might this be useful okay is if we do a menu and then inside of a menu we can make it a vertical menu okay
31:32 um so vertical menu uh and that's all we really need to do okay and let's publish now imagine this as like a sidebar let's
31:49 say let's say I had you know a sidebar on my site right and here I just have a nice tree view of authors and then indented from authors is all my authors on categories intended from that is all the categories right so this is a nice
32:02 just a way of dynamically creating a nice-looking list of items right and if we wanted like the authors categories tags if we wanted those things to not be
32:15 clickable or maybe we can make those instead of making them a menu item maybe there are menu headers so they weren't even clickable at all or they didn't even look like links that's definitely
32:27 possible as well yeah sure let's do that really quick let's do a menu heading authors and then we're going to Oh
32:41 interesting I don't have the ability to do sub menus on a heading hmm interesting I take that back maybe I'll look into into doing that I was just thinking to
32:56 be nice to be able to have authors as um you know just kind of like a label where wasn't even clickable um but it still had a submenu to it I'm not sure if that's possible on the framework but I'll look into that um so anyway there's
33:08 there's a nice imagine again imagine this is like a two column layout and you know all my content was over here and this is just kinda like a sidebar right really really nice really great well any questions let me see if there's any
33:23 questions here no I guess I guess you guys are just speechless I've just blown me away that much cool yeah it's been really interesting just I know many of you are probably interacting on Weaver
33:36 space on the community site talking about menus and and trying to get this define little details of things ironed out and it's been very interesting
33:48 watching um hey you guys helping each other I love that that's just awesome some of you guys really helping out with some CSS and it's it's been giving me ideas for things of okay now I see what they want um you know you guys are trying to
34:02 really build these menus in the wild and it's giving me a lot of things to think about in terms of how I can then take the menus and make them better okay so yes thank you um I think the
34:16 general consensus of menus is they're very powerful as you see with this hopefully what I've showed me here with total CMS shows you how powerful they can be because they're so modular and
34:28 why that modularity is is important um without menus being the way they're built I couldn't do this with told CMS right so that's why I'm you know I thought I definitely had a lot of foresight and when I go to CMS to
34:42 imagine I'm gonna be able to do even more things because I know I'm gonna rethink total CMS - with how I've done things there and then really make the to mesh okay really excited about that um
34:54 so yeah thank you for all the feedback on Weaver space about menus keep the ideas coming keep the requests of hey I want to do this it's really difficult for me I understand that we're again we're still in the new phase you know
35:06 total our foundation six is less it's about two months old now or two months to the public and yeah it'll get better I've already made menus a lot better since the release the launch and taking that feedback that you guys have been
35:20 getting will definitely make it better easier and more powerful so thank you very much for that okay next on just some more cool total CMS - stuff um so
35:32 our total CMS update all right the integrations with foundation six so if you try to use a total CMS with the foundation six prior to last week you
35:44 might have noticed that image is only displayed mobile okay it would never display the full resolution image so in order to work around that the syntax was quite different between foundation and
35:59 foundation sakes and so what I've done is inside at the very top of the total CMS image stack okay is a check box for foundation six support so if you
36:13 gonna be using an image stack um in foundation 6 all you have to do is make sure you check this box okay um if you're not using foundation 6 don't check that box it's not checked by default so um if you're using foundation
36:30 6 just check that box in CMS to I this won't be an issue it'll work everywhere this was just the easiest way to implement support for foundation 6 with these images so yeah just check that box sorry about that
36:45 but yeah it's it's obviously or you know luckily it's just an easy check box in it it'll just work in foundation 6 ok um let's see what was it what else was different um now there was there was
36:59 already actually I shipped there is a specific slideshow stack for f4 foundation 6 so inside the tol Simas stacks we go and look if we look at the
37:11 stacks you'll notice that there is a oh I don't even have it inside this group hold on one second there we go you notice that there is a
37:33 slideshow and a slideshow f6 the orbit gal or the orbit slideshow that comes in the foundation framework is vastly different in foundation six so yeah you're gonna have to make sure that you
37:46 just use the slideshow f6 version if you if you want that okay next up is gallery now sadly the gallery that is in total
37:59 CMS just doesn't work in foundation six it used a something called a clearing gallery and that was a gallery that came in foundation the framework version five
38:12 okay and my camera is like really fuzzy today for some reason so yeah so the that that clearing gallery was removed from the framework from foundation six
38:26 and that's why it just doesn't work inside foundation six at all so but I wanted to have a gallery solution that worked when foundation six I thought it was really important so I took a couple
38:39 days last week to kind of bang out a gallery it's pretty simple but actually I think it's quite nice actually the more I worked on it was like wow this is a really nice gallery actually so let's have a look at it so um it is called
38:53 gallery two and luckily it works not only in foundation six it works everywhere right so if you like this new gallery too you can go ahead and use it in whatever theme you want okay so here there you'll notice there's the gallery and the
39:07 gallery to gallery stack will not work in foundation six gallery two will work everywhere foundation six and everything else okay um it is very different than the existing gallery stack though so let's have a look at what that is so
39:21 let's look at the settings for gallery 2 they look very very similar to the gallery stack so you can you can say where you want your your images to come from do you want to come from a gallery from a feed from a blog post so on and
39:34 so forth or a blog list do you want to display thumbnails square thumbnails or a full image how many images do you want to display how do you want to sort them right do you want to display captions on the images right so if you click on that
39:47 you'll notice that there's captions down below the images here um do you want to add margins to the basically a gap in a gutter between the images or no gutter okay and then how many images do you
40:00 want to display in a row on mobile tablet and desktop I should probably call that small medium large since that's what the foundation six is but prior to foundation six everything was
40:13 you know mobile tablet desktop okay then uh the gallery style this alignment is basically for the captions so if like if you turn on captions do you want them to be left aligned or centered probably
40:25 centers but most people are gonna want sizing this allows you to will play around sizing a little bit I'll show you how that works do you want to put you know frames around thumbnails and then
40:37 we have some color options for the lightbox okay we'll just keep these out as the default right now and this does work luckily in preview so I can make all the changes I want I don't need to publish so scroll down so
40:50 here's my gallery here I might this gallery only has four images in it but we click on it we have a nice so you need to republish all files after so we click on we have a nice lightbox and we can scroll through all the images if you
41:05 notice we have a nice little caption down below the image we can customize the you know coloring and all that of all this stuff okay so really nice um it doesn't have the thumbnails on the bottom like the old vert like the old
41:17 gallery did but I quite like the niceness of this and the swipe on this on touch is really nice it really works really really well so yeah let's look at some of the some of the options um it's just you know it
41:31 is kind of like a basic gallery it gets the essentials done for us now let's quickly we'll frame we'll frame these images so we can kind of see what that looks like so if we turned frames on you'll see just adds like a nice little
41:46 frame around all the images let's look at the sizing so like if I did a max sighs een um probably most useful here
41:59 is max height if you notice this gallery has portrait and landscape images so what if I wanted to make sure all of the images were always the same height okay um now unfortunately when I created this
42:12 gallery these thumbnails are actually quite small um I think they go to a max of like 150 pixels so they're not too large I probably could have created larger gallery are larger thumbnails when I generated this if you notice what
42:26 this does is it it evens everything out a little bit so that the portrait isn't so tall versus everything else right um actually if let's look at I think they can even go smaller looks like these these particular images
42:42 are only 122 pixels tall so yeah it's not very not very big so I made really small thumbnails when I generated this gallery um sorry anyway but that's really nice as you see it kind of constricts everything if we wanted to
42:56 make it smaller I could do like 100 I recommend when you generate your gallery you make it the thumbnails a little bit larger so that you can then you know size them properly um if you wanted to have this feature so if we did 100 this
43:09 should make them all the same size now make obviously it makes them really too small but again I just I created thumbnails that were too small so um but as you see it makes them all even the sizes are out are now all even which is
43:21 kind of nice okay or you can turn off again you can turn off frames it might be different effect cool so that's gallery it is rather simple it's simple
43:35 to use pretty easy to use but I like it I like the lightbox actually I think the yep there we go and that same gallery
43:48 was used if you if you're using a blog post there is a blog post gallery there's also a blog post gallery to write so that you can use that same exact gallery inside your blog post
44:03 pages next up inside blog list there is a new you'll notice that there's an image and an image f6 okay um you really only need this image f6 stack if you want to use
44:17 the slideshow because the slideshow as I said earlier the slideshow is very different in foundation 6 so I had to create a different instance of the stack because it's so different so we have if you if you just want to get an image in
44:31 your blog list you're fine with the with the normal image stack I mean the f6 one will still work as well so I guess maybe the default thing is if you want to use an image in foundation 6 in your blog list use the image f6 stack especially if you want to slide joke because it
44:44 will the slideshow is the only thing that will work in here in foundation 6 ok and what's kind of nice is you can you can customize the animations now so you can have different you know coming in and how fade in or fade out or
44:57 whatnot so that's kind of nice ok otherwise this stack is identical to the image stack the only thing as different is some of the slideshow options because it's quite different the slideshow in
45:13 foundation 6 cool trying to think what else uh I had on my list for told CMS here let's just look at the the release
45:27 oh the soem blog lists a KUB people have actually asked for this for quite a long time under filter and sort now um this used to be a slider
45:41 um it's now a number box that you can you can make it whatever number you want so before was limited to 20 loading 20 posts now you can just type in whatever number you want and it'll load that many posts or you know that's the maximum
45:57 number of posts well gallery to pick up images created with the old gallery in a CMS data folder yes it uses the same back end it just yeah it'll use all the same images you don't need to re-upload anything um it's just
46:11 all the admin side stays the same it's only the content gallery stack that was different okay so yes do you have to publish in any case to get the menu working even
46:26 without total CMS know if you're not using total CMS in foundation 6 the menu will easy CMS to have a version 2 as
46:45 well um yes ok Juan Pablo awesome great cool uh let me look okay what else a
47:00 blog list ok we talked about that oh I fixed the impact integration as well I won't show you that but yeah the impact works there it's similar to the I guess
47:19 I'll show you really quick type impact at the top if we add in a total CMS image slide ok you'll notice at the very top of the total CMS impact slide there
47:32 is a foundation six support box there now so if you're gonna use the total CMS integration inside impact you just need to check that for a foundation six and you're golden that's it that's all you have to do um all the other settings are
47:52 still the same represent the same that's it okay so there is one more one more really epic change I made yesterday and I'll be honest I didn't test it at all I know it
48:07 will work but it'll it will be interesting to see what people can do with this and I was just gonna let
48:19 people kind of discover this on their own but you know you guys are probably my my favorite fans since you're joining me live here and I figured out I'll show you
48:32 um so inside blog list if you know in the past we were limited to all of these stacks that are inside this little menu okay um it's not the case anymore
48:45 actually so this obviously isn't a very easily discoverable feature but since we're live I will I'll spill the beans to you guys hey um what is really awesome now is and I did this
48:58 intentionally when I was building foundation six is you can use any foundation six stack that you want now inside blog list okay so in addition to all these stacks that you have here you
49:12 can go ahead and use any totals are any foundation six stack inside blog list so like for example let's say you know you wanted you know headers or you wanted to
49:25 use swatches inside inside here right so let's say for example let's just do a simple one okay if you know the title stack here it's it's always been hard coded to an h3 and it's been on my list
49:37 and maybe make that configurable but anyway let's say I wanted to have all my blog post in my blog lists have an h2 okay how could we do that so let's go
49:50 ahead and let's do that so let's go ahead and let's find a foundation six header stack I'm gonna drag my header stack in there oh no do I not have the right version installed
50:06 oh haha oh I'm I might need I think I know what it is I think I need to add a new blog list the trick is there's a little I don't we'll call it a minor bug in stacks where the change that I may do accomplish all this you would need to
50:23 add a new blog list I'm gonna go ahead and that's exactly what it was okay so with the new blog list on the page I can now add my foundation six stacks into it
50:37 and have a header here and I can make that in each - okay now you might be asking okay now Joe I have my header how do I insert the title of my blogpost
50:50 in here um and the answer is there's kind of an undocumented on Weaver space quite a bit um you know every now and then when people need some small snippets and
51:02 stuff like that there is a special kind of macro syntax you know total CMS has macros there's a special syntax though for blog list and it's very different than the normal see the normal macros
51:16 okay and so what it is it's pretty simple um and basically what you do is here let me when you zoom in here so you title okay so it's curly brace curly
51:33 brace and then title and then curly brace curly brace okay so there that's what it is okay and guess what it is for author and for
51:47 you know summary it's curly brace curly brace summary early it raised curly brace author early race curly brace dates a little funky because the formatting and stuff like that so that
52:00 one's gonna be a tough one there is no real macro for dates that's that's kind of a tricky thing maybe eventually we'll come up with something like that but for all the fields is just curly brace curly brace the name of the field and curly
52:14 braces so pretty simple there okay so that's a really simple way area let's let's we'll even preview we'll make sure this works here let's do blog and I'm
52:28 not sure how many blog posts this thing has a lot see let's preview that roll down and there we go all right so these
52:40 are all h2s inspect element we inspect those you'll see that it is an h2 and yeah it has the title of our of our blog post
52:56 pretty pretty slick pretty slick and of course we can add in you know swatch classes here and we do we cannot you know all the cool foundations six stuff we can do that here now okay so you can target those styles really easily with swatches
53:13 pretty slick really really cool yeah so that was it uh you know again I flipped the switch for this man I I can't there are so mean there's an infinite amount you can add any of these stacks
53:27 in here so you know you can use these column layouts now so if you wanted to use the foundation six columns in your blog list and stuff like that you can do that right some things don't really make sense like you're you're not gonna add a
53:40 menu in a blog list right I mean that that doesn't really make any sense there's stuff like oh maybe you can add a lightbox I don't know I don't know that's kind of tricky I'm sure there's
53:53 gonna be some people doing some insane stuff with this and I'll be interesting to see what you do I mean the combinations are infinite the obvious things to start off with there are simple things right columns easy right you can use those for layouts they're probably a little easier to use and more
54:07 powerful than the the layouts that are inside this submenu okay you know you can use the picture stack you could use that um if you want to do slideshows
54:20 though you're gonna need to use this the total CMS that image stack um you're gonna have to use that then so yeah I'm not gonna dive into anything else but
54:33 any questions let me know let's see is there any chance beginning macer ejs grid layouts for blog lists um will have some masonry stuff on a total
54:49 CMS - right so like we look at there's a for masonry j/s there's a lot of drawbacks of using that a lot actually but if we notice this page on weaver
55:01 space right this layout this is generated by total CMS - and as you see it's kind of a it's a masonry esque layout so we'll be able to build stuff like that
55:15 which is really really cool so yeah I'm excited for that um obviously as you see it works really really well we do some really cool stuff with this it's not an exact masonry layout I mean there there are
55:30 differences but this is more manageable it's easier to use and it's more uh do hyphens work now oh I forgot to
55:47 look at that Wolfe shoot sorry about that oh look at that let me I'm gonna add that to my list right now hold on one second everyone wolf will file the bug for my menus and
56:00 basically what it is here let me I'll describe it while I'm adding this to my to-do list is if you start a tag or a
56:14 category with a hyphen in the blog filters and the linked lists they those will not be displayed and we wanted that same feature for menus and I need to add
56:37 sorry about that wolf I totally forgot about that um sign me uh wolf while while you're listening um I think I I nailed all of your gallery requests for
56:51 gallery 2 - the one where the images are encapsulated inside of a box and you had the border around the box there there was too much I needed to do to make that happen so I got everything else done except
57:06 that so yeah sorry everything else should work really well you can still have frames around the images but having a frame around the entire box that was just too different for what layout I had
57:18 built so sorry about that okay but we'll keep looking at stuff um you know in the future for that eten total see us - um so I would like to say I'd like to have it by late spring is when I is when I would really love to have it out to you
57:33 guys I'm gonna be most likely spending the summer in Brazil um I will be working but I my goal is to have it out before then at least uh a beta for everyone to use
57:48 okay a public wide beta is that you know and I mean it's powerful it already powers Weaver space so I trusted enough to power my my entire website and my life so it's definitely powerful I just need to add a bunch of features are
58:01 missing from it that I need to add for you guys and so I think that's doable um it's already January 22nd I can't believe it I really need to get foundation six
58:14 tutorials out out the door for for everyone that really really needs those smaller tutorials I really need to get on that just seems like I've had bunch of server problems and upgrading my servers and catching up on support from
58:26 the holidays I finally hit support inbox zero last night unfortunately this morning it was fold up again so yeah just the caveat if you need some help
58:40 ping us on the the community there's like 2,000 users there and it's you having 2,000 users you know with eyeballs on it to potentially help you out you could probably get an answer a little bit
58:53 faster then directly if you email me because then you're relying just on me I'm the single point of failure and I definitely I make sure I get back to everyone emails me but um it might not be um in
59:07 the next 48 hours right yeah I just been man I've been hammered with so many requests lately that I really appreciate there have been a lot more people posting on the community and I really appreciate that so thank you very much
59:19 for that I didn't really get into any any other I called action updates that I did with foundation 6 pretty simple stuff there's just a couple new triggers for light boxes so you can trigger a foundation light box and a foundation
59:33 off canvas which is kind of like you kind of use it as target so things can kind of slide in or slide from the bottom and stuff like that based on events and stuff like that so really cool and yeah you can also trigger call
59:46 to actions based off form submissions or form errors so if if a form was successfully submitted it can auto trigger us a call to action now before there was the ability to do it on submit
60:01 but now we can do it on success which is different right because maybe a form will will not be successfully submitted and we don't want to give a person some feedback that we only want if the person has successfully submitted the form so
60:17 that's really cool um so Danny says he'll wait for told CMS to before he builds out anything current total CMS um yeah sure I will bill I will be holding our building a data migration as well so um you're not gonna look you shouldn't
60:31 be losing any total CMS data but kind of like similar to foundation to foundation six total CMS to total CMS to will be kind of a similar boat it will be a new stack it won't replace the existing
60:46 stacks and the reason is because it's so different it's so much better I needed to make sure that we kept backwards compatibility so that your older sites if you don't want to upgrade them to
60:58 found it or to total seeing us two can still remain intact can still work and still function and you won't have any you know issues maintaining those older sites that use total CMS one right because I don't want to get in the boat
61:12 of of updating total CMS stacks and then like there's a bunch of tweaks and whatnot especially if as we do total CMS 2.1 and total stimulus 2.2 you know there could be slight changes and stuff like that I really don't want to break your existing total CMS sites if you
61:25 don't want to spend the time to upgrade them right so it's gonna be a similar situation again we'll have a data migration so because the data structure is completely different until CMS - again I've told us you missed - is a
61:39 complete rewrite of total CMS um kinda like similar to foundation six it was complete rewrite those totals - missed - completely redone from scratch everything is new everything is new so
61:54 yeah i-i've spent like 18 months at least I've worked in total CMS - and I haven't worked on it for about six months but because I've been working on foundation six but yes total CMS - I as
62:07 soon as I get these foundation videos these shorter videos out the door hopefully in a couple within a couple weeks I'm gonna be full bore into total so us - again and we'll have a lot of
62:20 really nice tight integration with foundation six as well I think these two products together are gonna be a goldmine for you guys you know stuff that we could only ever dream of you
62:33 know in building before we'll be able to do now with foundation six and total CMS - so yeah we're really building the future our next you know four or five years of web development right now I'm
62:46 really excited to see that and I'm glad you guys are a part of it with me so thank you I'm cool well I've eaten up all your time I appreciate you come in and watching me ramble on for an hour
63:00 and go live again if you're an easy CMS or if you're not easy CMS owner it is deal the week this week so go check that out it's 40% off it it's basically a simpler version of total CMS you know it
63:14 only does text images and video but yeah it's once you buy it you can use it on as many websites as you want so that's cool and cool thanks everybody we will hopefully we'll see some of you on
63:27 Friday at the Hangouts all I might have some more cool stuff for you to see by then but I do have a lot of tutorials to make so oh yeah and I'll hopefully I'll be joining my hangout for my nice new displays that are gonna be showing up tomorrow so I'm
63:39 really excited about that so cool thanks Danny and Mateus and Gunther and Wolff and everybody guest on mr. Cole and Martin thanks for coming today I really appreciate you Juan and
63:54 yeah thanks Martin have a wonderful rest of your week go out and make something great I hope you enjoy this livestream and we'll see you next week
