About Stacks Guru

Stacks Guru is born from the need to search the vast number of videos out there on stacks built for Stacks Pro and the Stacks 5 plugin for Rapidweaver.

We have scraped over 500 videos to get the transcripts for each in order to make the spoken word searchable.

Please use this free tool to help you learn and discover the awesome power that Stacks and the stacks made for Stacks have to offer.

00:00 hey everybody Joe here and in this video
00:02 we're gonna be checking out the all new
00:03 Google Maps version 3 stack update
00:06 that's coming out and man it is awesome
00:07 and it's definitely the most
00:09 comprehensive and easy to use powerful
00:11 map Stacks out there in the stacks
00:13 ecosystem let's check it out
00:17 let's jump in and have a look at the
00:20 static Maps stack this uses the full
00:22 breadth of the Statics map API within
00:25 Google and essentially this allows you
00:27 to import an image of your map a static
00:30 image rather than that interactive embed
00:33 that we see all over the web
00:35 what are the benefits of this static map
00:37 API well we have a lot of flexibility we
00:39 can add markers just like a normal map
00:41 we can do street view we can style our
00:45 map any way we want we can adjust the
00:47 colors we do all kinds of interesting
00:49 things that way we can also add multiple
00:51 mocker markers and basically build out a
00:55 path
00:56 um to kind of fill out like a region
00:58 within our map right and these examples
01:01 here only scratch the surface of really
01:04 what the Statics map API can do some
01:06 other things again we can style maps
01:08 with any colors that we want we can also
01:10 inlay our own images instead of using
01:13 Google's markers
01:15 uh we can have our own custom labels for
01:18 each marker as well so this is a really
01:20 powerful
01:21 um stack another great reason to use the
01:23 Statics map API is that there are no
01:25 third-party scripts loaded on the page
01:27 at all it's just an image so you don't
01:30 have to worry about you know a special
01:31 gdpr request in terms of JavaScript
01:34 running on the client's browser and
01:35 gathering information and all of that
01:37 information All That Jazz next up is we
01:39 have
01:39 traditional Google Map embed where you
01:42 can have a particular location and you
01:45 can interact and move and zoom in and
01:47 out of the maps
01:49 um so this is basically your traditional
01:50 Google Map embed
01:52 then we have the ability to actually
01:54 embed a street view
01:56 okay so you can find your particular
01:58 coordinates within the world and here we
02:01 have this funny
02:03 um you know rendition these Japanese uh
02:05 Student Art students wanted to have some
02:08 fun with the Google Maps crew so uh they
02:10 dressed up as pigeons pretty hilarious
02:12 so yeah streets view is full again fully
02:14 interactive you can navigate through the
02:16 streets and uh and yeah we can even go
02:19 behind them and you see their pinches
02:21 are following us okay
02:24 um next up is the search stack and this
02:26 allows you to search for a particular
02:29 query within a region right and these
02:32 are fully interactive so in this map I'm
02:34 searching for Whole Foods Markets
02:37 um within the San Francisco Bay area and
02:39 here they are they're all highlighted
02:40 here I can actually click on each
02:41 individual one and I can get directions
02:43 to them but basically you know within
02:45 this map I can go ahead and customize uh
02:48 what query I want and it will display
02:50 all those queries on a map pretty slick
02:53 next up is we have a directions map and
02:56 the directions allow you obviously go
02:57 from point A to point B but you can also
03:01 add full blown up to 20 waypoints within
03:05 your directions so like if I wanted this
03:07 direction to kind of go through Presidio
03:09 golf course and maybe stop off at a few
03:11 other places you can have an entire
03:13 route
03:14 um with this you can have up to 20
03:15 waypoints and this is a great use case
03:18 for integrating with total CMS and feeds
03:21 to add those waypoints and markers
03:22 dynamically now the last fact that we
03:25 have as a part of the Google Maps deck
03:27 is the GPS load stack and what this does
03:29 is allows us to integrate uh the Google
03:32 Maps directly with forms now if I click
03:34 this load my GPS button it actually
03:36 prompts me the end user if I want to
03:39 allow this website to track and know my
03:42 current location I'm going to click
03:44 allow so as you see here my GPS
03:46 coordinates have been loaded now we can
03:49 optionally load these into a form but I
03:51 also integrated a map into this so that
03:54 the actual my current location is
03:56 displayed natively on a map inside of my
03:59 form now you can use any of the maps
04:01 defined here you can use directions you
04:03 can use a static map you can use the map
04:05 embed you can use any of the maps that
04:07 you like and it will integrate with this
04:09 GPS load
04:11 um stack alright so let's hop into wrap
04:13 over and kind of show you what you're
04:14 getting you'll see here that you have
04:16 six different Stacks there's one for
04:18 each type of map as well as the low GPS
04:21 stack and just as you would use any
04:24 other stack just drag and drop it and
04:27 you know look at all the settings here
04:28 I'm not going to dive through all the
04:30 settings in this particular video please
04:32 check out our videos that we're going to
04:33 have for each individual map stack so
04:36 you can learn about the intricacies of
04:38 each individual map
04:40 yeah just dragging and dropping here we
04:42 have a static map here we have the map
04:44 embed
04:45 um super simple to use as you see I just
04:47 have the address the type of map that I
04:50 want set my zoom level set the sizing
04:53 it's fully 100 responsive and these
04:56 settings that you're seeing here are
04:57 going to be you know pretty much uniform
04:59 across all the map Stacks as well as
05:02 some additional ones that are specific
05:03 for that particular map obviously
05:06 um we can load there's some Integrations
05:08 that we have uh for Google Maps
05:10 um we have uh we can load from the GPS
05:12 stack which we have we saw that earlier
05:14 you can also integrate with cookie jar
05:16 and rain check
05:17 um other Integrations that we support
05:19 and love are the total CMS and feeds
05:22 integration that I mentioned earlier
05:24 um all the map Stacks will support that
05:26 and like I said these Stacks couldn't be
05:28 easier to use like here's our Direction
05:30 stack you should simply put where you
05:31 want to go from where you want to go to
05:33 you can add as many waypoints as you
05:35 want again you can add waypoints
05:37 manually or be a total CMS or fees if
05:39 you want to dynamically and happy
05:40 actually have users
05:43 um add their directions themselves via
05:45 CMS pretty awesome so that's the new
05:48 Google Map stack in a nutshell I hope
05:50 you enjoy and see how awesome and simple
05:53 these are to integrate into your web
05:54 pages again they're fully responsive
05:57 easy to use extremely elaborate they
06:00 support every API aspect for the static
06:03 maps and the embedded apis within Google
06:06 um the Integrations that we've added
06:07 with cookie jar and rain check
06:09 um as well as total CMS and feeds is
06:12 really going to allow you to take these
06:13 things to the next level
06:15 um and really integrate it into your
06:16 site's design and how they behave how
06:19 your customers behave with the websites
06:21 um these are just gonna be a really
06:22 great addition to your toolbox so I hope
06:25 you enjoy them we will see you soon and
06:27 make sure you check out the more
06:28 detailed videos that we have if you need
06:30 those take care everyone we'll see you
06:31 on Weaver space now go forth and make
06:33 your websites great bye"}]
