About Stacks Guru

Stacks Guru is born from the need to search the vast number of videos out there on stacks built for Stacks Pro and the Stacks 5 plugin for Rapidweaver.

We have scraped over 500 videos to get the transcripts for each in order to make the spoken word searchable.

Please use this free tool to help you learn and discover the awesome power that Stacks and the stacks made for Stacks have to offer.

00:09 so in this video we're going to be
00:10 looking at how to use the import
00:12 functionality within traffic control
00:15 so here inside the traffic control stack
00:17 i've set up a route
00:19 for import here i have test import
00:23 and when you choose import you can
00:25 supply a destination now this
00:28 destination should not be a url it needs
00:31 to be the path
00:33 to the page that you want to import
00:36 so here i have just import.php
00:40 so if we go to the import page inside
00:42 this demo file and let's look at the
00:44 path we'll notice that the folder is
00:46 slash and it's import.php
00:49 now for example if i were going to do
00:52 you know
00:53 import and then
00:56 index.php
00:58 okay let's say my folder and name of
01:00 that would be this
01:02 inside my route um the import would need
01:05 to be updated so that was actually
01:07 import slash index.php
01:11 okay so this needs to be the actual path
01:14 from the top of your website
01:17 to the actual file that you want to
01:19 import
01:22 so let's see what actually import does
01:25 for us so here i've published the actual
01:29 project file for traffic control and if
01:32 we let's go ahead and test one of those
01:33 routes let's test that
01:35 test dash
01:37 import
01:38 route now when i hit enter here what
01:41 we'll notice is it actually takes us to
01:44 the import page
01:46 but if we look at the url it didn't
01:48 redirect us
01:49 it imported the page so the route is now
01:52 my url
01:55 okay but the page that is imported was
01:58 from a completely different url
02:00 remember the original name of this file
02:02 was import.php
02:05 and if we look this is the page that's
02:07 getting imported so this is a way of
02:09 kind of changing and updating your your
02:12 urls either temporarily um this is
02:15 probably a great example of a way of
02:18 doing a temporary sale url that you want
02:21 to expire at a certain point in time but
02:24 you don't want to use a redirect
02:26 right the import functionality really
02:28 helps you out with that
02:30 now one caveat with importing of routes
02:35 is there are times where when you import
02:37 a page
02:38 some of the related assets to that
02:41 particular page might not get loaded
02:45 so for example um if you have you know
02:48 some javascript files or css files and
02:50 you notice that those aren't getting
02:52 imported properly when the page gets
02:54 imported
02:55 there is a fix um and there is a fix
02:58 within the seo helper stack
03:00 so our seo helper stack has a meta tag
03:03 called base url
03:05 and all you need to do is if you add
03:06 that to the page that will resolve
03:09 issues with
03:11 javascript and css and potentially other
03:14 assets not getting loaded when the page
03:16 is imported
03:19 now there could be other conflicts
03:21 if you have other php related stacks on
03:24 this page
03:26 there could be issues importing those
03:28 so for example let's say you have a feed
03:31 stack or or something like that on the
03:33 page that you want to import
03:35 um there could be some conflicts between
03:37 that um
03:39 you know it couldn't maybe load
03:40 particular css or php libraries and
03:43 things of that nature so the import
03:46 ability um while it's amazing there
03:49 could be some conflicts with php
03:50 libraries and the conflicts with
03:54 um
03:54 css and javascript not being loaded um
03:57 there is a workaround using seo helper
04:00 with this base url meta tag
04:09 "}]
