00:08 hey everyone i wanted to make a video for you guys to show you how you can create a new page type in
00:15 the case on weaver based site project file i decided to go with
00:23 a stamps page because one of our community members bill burden
00:29 is an avid stamp collector and he has a stamps page that he is
00:35 either warning to or is in the process of converting to a total cms driven
00:42 website so i thought that i would go ahead and make his life a
00:49 little easier and maybe do it for him so let me show you bill's
00:58 stamp page so this is the stamp page if you click on the stamp it will take
01:04 you to essentially a blog view
01:10 page and go back and take it to the next one
01:19 so so this is bill's page
01:25 and i'm going to see if i can duplicate it or at least set it up for him so that he
01:31 can start working on it okay i've already created a
01:38 stamps.weaverbasesite.com website for bill and i have
01:44 gone in and taken the most recent case on project file and duplicated it
01:51 and renamed it and put it into its own bill burden stamps folder so i can keep
01:58 everything separate and maintain my original project file it's a good good habit to get into
02:05 so let me go ahead and open it up so this is the you can see up here here
02:11 bill burton stamps oh one or zero one okay so you can see over here on the
02:19 left hand side the different page types none of them are stamps but i do need a
02:25 stamps page and let's say that instead of renaming one of the existing pages i want to add
02:33 a brand new page that is probably a good idea because you
02:38 never know i mean one day bill might this whole stamps thing may take off for him and
02:44 you know he'll have his own stamp shop or a stamp complex and you know he'll have to have a food menu
02:50 because it'll be a food court and he'll have multiple locations and you know he might have staff and you
02:57 know a store and i don't know what else i mean bill's a smart guy so i wouldn't put it past them
03:05 so what i'm going to do first though is since i don't think bill is going to
03:13 need at the moment a blog instead of deleting these pages it was suggested
03:19 by a very smart person in our youtube live to just set the pages that you don't
03:24 need to draft so i'm going to set these to draft and instead of you watching me do every
03:30 single parent page i'll just edit that out
03:38 okay so i have set all the pages that i don't think we're
03:43 going to need for right now to draft which also sets their sub pages
03:48 to draft which is a nice little feature i did leave staff normal though because what i'm going to
03:56 do is show you that staff is staff has a staff page
04:04 with the blog list a staff view page which has the blog post an admin page for the staff which
04:11 has all of the staff page settings in it each each page all these pages have one of
04:17 these admin pages then it has a
04:23 an admin page which has the admin blog list so you can see all your posts and then
04:29 the admin form page so you can edit your post and add posts
04:34 okay so i kept this one because um if you look up here at like the about
04:40 us page there's only an admin page for the about us page because there aren't any blog lists
04:48 or posts or you know anything like that the the faq page the fact page
04:56 doesn't have an admin i'm sorry a a blog post page because typically a faq
05:02 is something that you twirl down you don't click on a faq and it takes you to another page
05:08 so you know i didn't want to duplicate that one i wanted to duplicate something that
05:13 already had what i need in it okay so i'm going to first take the staff
05:22 page and duplicate it i'm going to hit command d on my keyboard okay and so our staff copy so i'm going
05:30 to double click it and rename it to stamps and then over here in the side panel
05:39 i'm going to name this to oops stamps okay
05:46 that's the folder just like over here with staff you can see it's staffed so i'm going to
05:52 name this to stamps now the browser title has a cms macro in it
05:58 so i'm going to double click on the staff and rename it to stamps
06:03 okay for the page title then i'm going to take the staff view
06:09 page which has the blog post page i'm outside the blog post stack on it right here
06:14 and i'm going to duplicate this and drag it under the stamps page
06:22 and i'm going to rename this to stamps get rid of copy
06:30 come over here and name this
06:35 oops i'm gonna name it forward slash stamps dash view okay
06:43 and i'm gonna double click staff right there you can see the title and
06:50 put stamps now this folder the naming convention that i have going
06:55 is this is the stamps view page which is where i'm going to view the stamp blog post and it's the same as
07:02 over here staff dash view so i'm going to go now to the admin page
07:09 for the page duplicate it put it under here
07:14 oops come on do your thing
07:23 okay sometimes it's just easier to there we go okay now i'm going to rename
07:31 this to stamps get rid of copy
07:36 so this one is the stamps page so it is called admin
07:43 dash staff dash page so this one will be called
07:49 admin dash stamps dash page okay
07:55 and then now for the blog list admin page duplicate you bring it down
08:03 here there we go
08:11 stamps not stem ops stamps copy
08:18 so this one this page is called admin dash staff so this one will be called
08:25 admin stamps and then this one i'm going to duplicate
08:32 it and put it actually inside of the
08:37 admin stamps page so i'm going to name this to stamps oops
08:44 gotta get rid of the copy okay and i know that this is admin
08:52 dash staff staff dash edit so this will be
08:57 admin dash stamps dash edit okay
09:05 so now we've created our stamps page so the next step would be
09:12 to actually go through and rename the macros
09:19 so here i have staff dash title i'm gonna paste in stamp stash title here i have
09:26 staff to underscore info stamps underscore info
09:31 blog list is not gonna be staff it's gonna be stamps and i'm going to
09:39 scroll down just to make sure okay cool so then i'll come to the stamps page
09:46 here and make sure actually i got yep okay i set that right
09:51 so i'm going to come over here and this is the stamps view page
09:57 put stamps there rename this to stamps
10:05 okay come down here this is other other
10:12 stamps you may be interested in the blog list will be stamps
10:20 and we can set all the other fun stuff in there later come over to the stamps admin page
10:28 and start renaming some stuff stamps
10:36 stamps
10:43 okay so then the page title come down here to the cms id and change it from staff to stamps
10:52 page link staff to stamps
10:58 description and the share card okay so these will all be unique
11:07 to the stamps page all right and come over here now we have
11:14 stamps list
11:20 and then i'm going to while i'm here change this link to go from staff edit
11:30 to oops stamps and then stamps edit okay
11:38 set that link this blog list is gonna be stamps
11:45 okay so i think i've oh and then i gotta go into the partial
11:54 twirl that down so that i can get this drop area that's unpinned you can tell it's unpinned there back
12:01 out of this and it will show the blog filter stack and i'll change that to stamps
12:11 so i'm going to change this from admin staff to
12:18 admin stamps okay
12:23 and i'm gonna put a list or a you know step-by-step description of
12:28 what i'm doing in the actual description so you can follow along step by step
12:35 okay so i have that's i got my blog list filters i'm
12:40 gonna double click this and close it up go back out okay
12:46 so i think we're set oh yep set there and then come over
12:54 here to the stamps edit page and i'm going to say
13:02 stamps edit and this link will go to
13:09 the stamps admin stamps edit page instead of the admin staff edit page
13:16 so admin stamps edit page i'm going to change this blog form from
13:24 staff to stamps it seems like a lot of work it's a
13:29 it's it is a little tedious but it's really not that difficult once you
13:36 you know once you figure out okay so this is what we're doing this is how this is how total cms works this is how foundation and
13:42 you know everything kind of ties together okay um the link that goes
13:49 so the link here instead of just admin staff i'm going to make that go to stamps
13:55 admin stamps we want to make sure we go to the right blog list page
14:02 and we're in the admin portal okay so i think we got everything let's
14:09 double check stamp stamps stamps everywhere
14:16 let's go to let's go here real quick
14:24 double click this open up that okay that's fine for now
14:33 hit back okay so we've i'm going to close up staff
14:40 and set it to draft just so we don't have any excess publishing going on
14:48 and actually i'm just going to go ahead and do that for about us just to make our lives a little bit
14:56 easier and updates yeah updates and start here so draft
15:04 and draft actually i should go ahead and make start page draft anyway on that okay
15:11 i'll do that and make a note of myself alright so we have our
15:18 admin page now now that we've gotten our stamps page all squared away
15:29 okay okay cool so let's go to the admin page and set
15:37 up our navigation for the left hand side so here i'm in
15:43 the navi the admin main navigation which is that left side panel slide over
15:51 okay so i'm going to scroll down to the buttons and i'm going to come down to staff actually and just
15:58 duplicate this this is for the page so the admin um page that has you know the site title
16:04 the site link the description and all that stuff that's what this will link to okay so i'm going to copy
16:10 and paste that and i'm going to come up here and rename it to stamps
16:20 and then down here in the custom classes
16:25 instead of wrapping this toggle with a limelight launcher you
16:32 can use classes and so just to make things a little cleaner over here
16:38 i decided to put the the cms i'm sorry the css class down here so that would be
16:46 admin staff maybe it'd be stamps okay so this
16:54 this button will launch that page and i'm going to turn this
17:01 toggle this is going to be stamps you kind of see how i've you know named everything you know
17:09 keep consistency so you can see like okay that's the show
17:14 that's the settings show stamps page okay so that's if it's saying show
17:19 it's a toggle and i try to do that across the board just to make things easier for you
17:25 because i like things to be easy for me all right so we got stamps now i'm going to scroll down these are the blog
17:33 list and post pages i'm sorry blog list and forum pages for the admin
17:38 so if i scroll down to staff here's my toggle for that i'm going to
17:44 go ahead and copy and paste that so here is going to be
17:52 stamps let me go look like that make my life easier this button is going to here is another
17:59 limelight launcher okay so it is going to launch the
18:05 admin stamps page for the blog list
18:13 and then this one is going to launch the admin stamps edit page for the blog form
18:22 make sure my toggle set correctly button set correctly cool okay now there's one more thing
18:29 that we got to do these are the limelight buttons
18:35 that control what actually shows up when you click on them
18:41 so those the little cms ids right here like the admin stamps dash edit that's what is being
18:49 controlled by these so i'm going to come down to the staff
18:56 there's three there are three buttons that we need to configure they're all right here so i'm going to
19:03 copy those and select the last one and
19:08 paste them okay so now i have three more pages to play with i'm gonna
19:15 come up here and do stamps
19:22 i'm to set this the link that it's going to be opening so admin staff page will be
19:33 admin stamps page set link okay and then i'm going to
19:41 do the same thing for this one so this one's admin staff is now admin stamps and it will open up
19:48 the admin stamps page which is this admin stamps
19:53 set link and then this last one is the admin stamps edit page for the
20:00 blog form so it is admin stamps edit set link okay
20:08 and for good measure we are always saving things because you never know when rapidweaver
20:14 is going to quit on you okay so i'm going to come up here i
20:20 think i should be ready to publish i'm going to close this up

20:37 this up okay so now we are going to close up the date and time all right i like that they have things
20:44 all nice and pretty save that
20:49 alrighty oh there's something else we got to do go into the admin settings page here
20:56 come down to the components the site components and let's add a toggle so we can
21:02 actually see all this stuff for the stamps
21:08 because if you don't toggle it on then you won't see anything in that
21:15 in the navigation panel on the side the left hand side of the page so i'm going to make this you guessed it
21:23 stamps okay so now i think we are ready to
21:31 publish
21:38 i hope okay so we're gonna go ahead and publish
21:44 and it's going to be quite a few files so i'm just going to publish and then you know edit edit the publishing out
21:50 because that's boring you have better things to do than watch that
21:56 okay so publishing is complete so let's go see what we got okay

22:08 and as expected nothing nothing at all except for the the design
22:15 buy and the the copyright 2021 okay so
22:21 that's good that's what we want stamps stamps.weaverbase.com admin
22:28 i've already logged in so okay now in order to see
22:34 our stamps pages over here we gotta turn them on in the settings so i'm going to go to settings come to
22:41 components these are the pages so i'm going to toggle on stamps
22:48 it's being difficult so i'll toggle on stamps now just because i toggle it on doesn't mean it automatically shows up we have to
22:55 refresh the page that's just the nature of the toggle and
23:00 we have i didn't rename the button but we have stamps here for the stamps page
23:06 so stamps and i gotta rename stamp the stamps up here okay and staff page
23:12 over here so i'm not gonna remember to do everything which is you know
23:17 it's okay that's why i'm doing the video so y'all can see and you know know how to troubleshoot so
23:24 first things first what i'm going to do is actually rename this staff to stamps button
23:30 and that is in admin and then go to the navigation and come down to
23:36 the buttons the staff i'm sorry the stamps page is fine
23:42 but if we come down to here see i didn't rename staff so just come over here and rename
23:50 it to stamps okay and then
23:57 when i was over here in the page i got to rename the info section
24:03 so i'll come to stamps page and name that
24:10 double click there stamps and
24:17 name this since i didn't do that i didn't do this either so stamps underscore info
24:27 and then close those up now the sub menu i'm sorry yeah the sub menu
24:34 i'm going to open this up and let's see
24:42 open up both of those back out so and in here you'll see that there's
24:49 the this button is you'll see it up here basically what i did was sometimes when
24:56 you're in your admin section you don't have the actual website open
25:01 so instead of doing a new tab or and navigating to that page you can just you know click this and it
25:09 will take you it'll open a new tab and take you to that page so you can see what your changes are right then and there
25:15 convenience that's name of the game so i'm going to go in here
25:22 and i'm going to rename this to stamps page
25:29 and since it's a link i'm sorry guys a header with a link i'm going to make it go to the stamps
25:37 page set link and it's set to open in a new tab okay
25:47 i'm going to hit back on that so now you see how it reflected on both
25:53 that's because this is a partial and i wanted the same information to be on the small and versus the medium
26:01 and large okay so i will double click this
26:08 and collapse these pins and i have a video on what
26:16 unpinning a content or a container area does this
26:23 little black thumbtack versus the blue uh thumbtack here there's a whole i have
26:29 a video showing what that means so let me back out of this okay
26:37 and then i will publish

26:58 stamps everywhere okay cool so now that that's on i'm going to come
27:04 over here and refresh and still nothing and the reason why is because we haven't named our link yet
27:09 so i'm going to come down to the page settings the page title just make it stamps for now
27:15 and what that's going to do is control what this says up here i'll show you i'll just make it stamps um bill burden
27:24 our favorite burden not all
27:31 burdens are bad all right so name this link title of stamps
27:38 page description we'll just put some dummy text and i don't have a share card so i'm just going to leave it blank
27:44 so i'll hit save it's saved i'll come over here and hit refresh
27:51 oh hahaha i did not put a new link in the in the uh
27:57 main admin or i'm sorry the main navigation that would be important so let's come to
28:03 the stamps page come up to the navigation partial
28:10 it's a lot of work to you know do this for every single page which is why i've put in
28:16 so many different page types because i wanted to save you guys the the time of having to you know go
28:22 through and do this for so many different things i didn't get all of them clearly there's
28:29 a stamps page i'm sure i could do a coins page or you know whatever when i was a kid i collected dice from all over the place
28:36 so i could make a dice page if i wanted to all right so i'll go into here into this drill
28:43 down partial open this pin come down to
28:50 here actually i'm going to select the drill down and turn off
28:58 that or turn that on the detailed view so i can actually see what i'm doing
29:04 come down to staff click on this toggle copy and paste it so this toggle will be
29:14 stamps instead of staff and the menu item i'm gonna double click
29:20 on it and stamps
29:27 and it is going to open up the
29:34 stamps page view and set okay and now
29:42 i'm gonna double click on that back out of that so since this is a partial it
29:48 automatically updated on the medium and large navigation so i
29:55 don't have to worry about that close this up back out of here okay
30:01 and now we publish again
30:06 okay so again magic of editing so if i refresh the page
30:14 and come there it is there's my stamps button okay or my stamps link so we're on our way
30:23 cool so i'm actually gonna go to my stamps page and you see i put my my link or i'm
30:30 gonna try the link title so it automatically updates the header here

30:41 next thing i want to do because now we're set i mean we're ready to go you know this is this is
30:47 already done everything's hooked up everything should be working you know if i come here and i look at
30:55 the inspector and i twirl down the head
31:00 this is a good way to make sure that all of your stuff is set so the description doesn't look like it's playing nice
31:07 let's go into the page admin page and come down to the settings and
31:13 go to the page description it's set to stamps oh haha
31:19 i know one thing we did not do we need to go up here there's a lot to
31:26 remember folks okay so each page has its own seo for se and it's powered
31:34 by seo helper and they all have macros okay so
31:40 each page has one of these this structured data up here is in a partial
31:46 and that's going to be site-wide but per page i'm going to come down here and this says
31:52 staff so i need to change that to stamps
31:57 been a while since i've done this thank you for bearing with me stamps stamps

32:13 stamps stamps same stamps okay get right
32:20 okay so i'm going to take this and copy it and paste
32:28 it okay so now we have this in here as well okay

35:01 marlar type oh one i'm gonna go with a marlar is a
35:07 type of category bill if you're yelling at me i can't hear you
35:12 but that's what i'm gonna name it okay so instead of
35:18 category which i'll you know i'll do it i'll go and do it right now i'll go ahead and come into the stamps form page

35:33 i will go ahead and yeah i'll just leave it like that okay so i'm gonna say this is
35:41 ah yeah okay i'll name category marlar marlar type okay so that'll be
35:51 marlar type perfect and i'll go ahead and publish this

37:44 okay so i don't use the actual admin blog list in the admin blog list section
37:51 they are nice don't get me wrong but i wanted to make it customized for me so i actually have a
37:58 blog list that acts like the admin blog list okay so so here let me show you the
38:04 difference so over here in the the total cms admin
38:09 um stuff here we have a blog list okay so you can do that but i'll show you
38:16 what that looks like it's this you're probably more familiar with this okay
38:22 i don't want that and so i created my own
38:30 using this blog list okay but the caveat to this
38:37 is down here under advanced you need to actually set the page so i
38:43 need to set this instead of saying staff edit it needs to go to
38:49 stamps edit set okay and while i'm here
38:58 i'm going to go ahead because i know it's going to come up
39:04 this is something else you need to do is you need to preview the blog post page
39:10 because i have pretty urls enabled
39:16 okay so i'm just going to preview this real quick
39:21 and hit submit you can put this in your htaccess file
39:26 i'm just going to do that okay so now i'm going to publish these
39:36 if i don't do that submit then it will it will give me a 404 when i try
39:42 to link to it from the um the stamps page
39:50 okay so let's refresh this all right so click on stamps to see our
39:58 stamp here click on this and now it takes me to the edit page as expected now okay so and up here just
40:06 fyi these are ordered by the date so i believe it is the
40:14 which one is it oldest first let me see so the stamps page
40:23 blog list oldest first so it's set to be oldest first so what i
40:29 typically tell people um is you know i it's 20 21 so the first thing is going to be 0 1 if
40:37 i want this to be the first thing on the page i'm going to do 0 1 0 1 20 21 okay that will make it so that
40:46 this shows up first okay so now if i come down to here plate position and marlar type those
40:53 were let's see plate position is this
41:05 and then marlar type is just 08.01 okay
41:13 we'll save that and then we will let's see what it looks
41:20 like actually in the blog list so um you can add
41:25 headers for these as well change this as well i'll go ahead and do it right now why not
41:31 so under here this is the stamps blog list page so under genre i'm gonna
41:38 put a header actually i'll put um
41:44 yeah i'll put a header there
41:53 and genre was
41:59 let's see already forgot what it was plate position is that okay
42:13 plate position i'll make this small like tiny and then the categories
42:20 it's not a category it is the marlower or marler marler
42:28 type okay
42:34 marlar type and we'll publish that
42:41 doing this for you bill and i guess everybody else out there but
42:49 especially you bill

43:07 so now if we come over here to this and we refresh now we have the beginnings of
43:14 a blog list so bill has his to where they are
43:22 two by two so what i'm going to do is make mine
43:28 oops get on the right page make mine 2x2 okay
43:38 and he has his left and right so what i'm going to do is use a
43:46 i could use the layout but i'm going to use columns pro because i love columns pro
43:56 so i'm gonna go up here and make two columns and i'm gonna
44:03 drag this image into this and set it to medium
44:11 that looks like 50 50. so we'll just do six
44:19 and auto okay that's cool
44:26 and we'll do columns pro i'm just give some padding and some gutters
44:34 and then let's see it's gonna be the title and then the summary
44:40 so i'll put in here the title and the summary and i'll put the
44:51 read more i'll keep that in the layout button or the layout and do that and i'll just
44:57 get rid of this because i don't need it anymore okay so let's
45:02 let's just preview this see what this looks like okay so
45:12 oh i didn't put the summary in the column i was like that doesn't look right all
45:18 right let's see what that looks like okay we're getting there
45:28 let's see this container i'm bigger so you keep yours in the
45:34 center this column is 12 auto actually i'm

49:28 spend a lot of time messing with the the aesthetics of the text or anything but
49:34 okay so here is our generic layout it's similar to this you know if
49:40 we wanted to we can do like bill has and center them
49:46 two columns vertical aligned middle
49:51 okay i'm gonna publish this
49:57 and then let's see what his actual page looks like okay now i don't
50:04 have the zoom in thing that bill has going on here
50:10 so what i will do is not do that but i'll just make you know the page the view page the post
50:16 page looks similar so stamps view
50:21 so here's the image kind of already have a little bit set up i'm going to delete the gallery i'm just
50:28 going to uncollapse this pin i'll remove the date
50:38 see i actually have to go through and clean this up a future version of the project will
50:44 have better this i'm just going to delete it for now
50:49 and i don't need any of this i don't need this and this
50:57 should be stamps good okay so i'm gonna need that
