00:00 behind-the-scenes take two well hope
00:16 you've been enjoying the past couple episodes um you know it's just me it's solo episode greg has been out on the
00:22 keys on vacation or a trip and he's just party in his life way and didn't want to be with me just playing he wished he was
00:28 there he's really he was really banging himself that you know he couldn't do a show with me this week so yeah I I just
00:36 decided to do it behind the scenes thing it's turning into three episodes now so um we I might batch these give you to
00:43 you all at once we'll see so what I'm going to talk about today we're gonna continue the behind the scenes talk
00:49 about how I run Weaver space and all the behind the scenes stuff that goes on and
00:56 today we're gonna be talking about really behind the scenes stuff which is the stuff that most of you don't see at
01:02 all right it's all the non facing stuff it's you know my team it's the tools
01:08 that I use to do everything that I do it's the finances how it run my business
01:15 it's the tools that are used for a team communication and things of that nature so let's start with let's start with the
01:22 boring stuff how about that um the legalese behind Weaver space is I
01:27 own an LLC I've owned this LLC since 2008 his aspect Services LLC you've
01:34 probably seen the aspect services on every single sales invoice that you've had or in the footer of my website and
01:40 things of that nature that's me um it's my company don't want to dive into too much legal advice in
01:47 terms of why did an LLC I have an LLC for a flow-through in the u.s. it's
01:52 fuller it's a limited liability company and essentially it allows tax taxation
01:59 your profits flow through to me as an owner personally but then on the taxes I file taxes as an S corporation so if
02:08 you're curious on all that stuff check out you know contact a lawyer or check out actually you know what
02:14 was that mic work off a couple weeks ago a conference and stripe they recently
02:20 announced they have a product called Atlas that traditionally did helped
02:26 people set up C corporations and while C corporations are interesting they're not
02:32 for everybody in every situation so they they recently announced that they're
02:38 going to allow they're gonna be start doing LLC's so really excited about that that's really cool I mean I already have
02:45 mine but it's great for everybody else because um it really lowers the barrier of entry for if you want to get started
02:53 and creating an LLC and all that jazz right so check out cloud cloud atlas I
02:59 believe they call it stripe so just go to stripe com I think it's a stripe TOCOM slash Atlas I believe so yeah cool stuff if
03:07 you want to create in a business entity whether or not you're in the US or outside the US so a lot of times they
03:14 one of their main markets was actually creating US business entities for
03:19 international users and they actually didn't intend they thought you know people are better in the US would
03:26 wouldn't really use that service but they have been right so you could be inside or outside the US and create a
03:31 us-based company and obviously with that you probably have a do file taxes in the
03:37 US and all that jazz for your corporation so there's a lot of stuff that you need to know and to look into that I'm not gonna dive into here today
03:43 but codes good stuff so finances um you know obviously my business has a
03:49 checking account it has business credit cards I use PayPal payments Pro for my
03:56 credit card processing I am entertaining the fact of using stripe most because I
04:02 I really really really want to use and support Apple pay and stripe just makes
04:09 that a lot easier I was here later I'll talk about I'm using cart loom to process all of that and I can't wait for
04:16 them to support start supporting Apple pay and subscriptions would be nicer to
04:22 have as well to maybe offer some subscriptions for some things and stripe just makes all of those
04:28 a lot easier okay um one thing I actually wanted to do in finance is that I haven't done is my business doesn't
04:34 have a savings account right now so just kind of talking about I'm really opening up here so yeah my
04:45 business doesn't have a savings account it would be nice to have a savings account and then you know put in some
04:50 drawers maybe two or three months expenses right now I don't have that kind of capital right now to do that but
04:57 that's definitely something I would love love to do so yeah hopefully soon when
05:04 we grow up Weaver space and it grows up we'll be able to do something like that for myself just to make sure that you
05:10 know we can keep the lights on for many many months in the future without having a stress so that's the boring stuff
05:18 finances and creating entities and all that jazz let's dive into my team kind
05:25 of how I make all that happened so my team the people that you probably interface with obviously Rob who on the
05:33 last episode handles all my support I publicly thanked and we love you rob okay um Tron sudden he's still around
05:40 right you he did support for me every now and then he pops in and helps some people out with some tickets and whatnot
05:46 so Tron you're still a part of our hearts we love you buddy and then obviously we have hipster John
05:52 Hawkins who right now is probably caught trying to call me so that we can work on
05:58 the new Weaver space website because he is tirelessly working until the witching
06:03 hour every day to help make this site a reality for everybody so um
06:09 John's awesome love him he's uh one of my best buds and lastly but not least
06:15 the big white duck himself Andrew tavern or um I love having him aboard
06:21 it's just fun having him around if you guys have ever been on the hangout he's just a blast to be with funnier than
06:27 heck he always hurts himself always in the hospital you know I'm pretty sure they have his name plaque on the door
06:33 now but yeah tabs just been great he he dill
06:38 up some amazing stuff as you guys all know um and yeah I'm glad to have him
06:44 aboard and he just makes everything better for everybody now some boring stuff right on my
06:50 finance side this year I've actually I wanted to try to do do less of that
06:56 myself right so this year I hired a few new services that I use to help me
07:02 manage my finances first is bench bench Co and they are
07:08 bookkeepers and so basically what they do is I am NOT a fan of QuickBooks I've
07:14 also used wave apps before right um wave
07:19 if you are just getting started wave is really cool it's a web app um and it's completely free um they do make money
07:25 because you could do like credit card processing through them and whatnot but um wave is awesome if you are looking
07:31 for something new and you don't want to go quickbooks route waves pretty nice i
07:37 did use them for a couple years then i I kind of hired my father to do my
07:42 bookkeeping and he was comfortable with QuickBooks so we moved off wave onto QuickBooks and I don't know I am just
07:51 not a QuickBooks guy at all right so um and it was I was kind of leaning on my
07:56 my poor dad to do all of that for me and so I decided to put my big boy pants on
08:02 and I hired bench this year and bench they are complete online service but you
08:09 deal with actual people right so um I can have a call every month with my with
08:15 my bookkeeper at bench who was assigned to my account right and they auto import
08:21 all this stuff for my bank accounts and from PayPal and all that jazz and they reconcile my books for me right I don't
08:27 need to do it they they do it all automatically I get an email I don't a couple weeks into the month and saying
08:33 hey your books are right and then we could schedule meeting and chat with them if need be right a lot of times it's just thumbs up
08:40 we're good um so yeah check out bench I wish I'd done it years ago um it's for
08:47 what they give its super cheap but I understand if you're just getting started something like wave apps are doing you
08:52 know a non-recurring expense is good but if you could afford it um definitely as
08:59 early as you can get something like bench because it's just gonna make your life a hell of a lot easier okay next up
09:06 is a service I hired which actually tightly integrates with bench I should mention if you are interested in bench let me know shoot me an email
09:13 at Joe at weavers not space and I can hook you up and I think like if if I
09:18 sign you up like you get two months free now so do I or something like that I don't know um but yeah let me know if
09:25 if you are interested I can hook it up and we could both benefit so that's good next is a service called gusto and so
09:33 another painstaking thing about owning a business is payroll okay and in the u.s. we have to file payroll
09:41 taxes and all the various paperwork that you have to do with all of that and I
09:46 tried to have my accountant do it for a couple years and it was just kind of
09:52 like always an afterthought for me and so much stress I spent over the over the
09:59 years on payroll and getting all that done and I just hired gusto this year
10:04 and they do it all for me like it is absolutely just amazeballs
10:11 it's not quite as high-touch as benches but
10:16 system that they do have that's completely automated is really cool they automatically you know every month I
10:23 just go in I run payroll just by clicking on a few checkboxes or buttons and saying yep yep yep because my payrolls pretty much the
10:29 same every month right it takes care of filing it takes care of with Holdings takes care of all that
10:36 stuff and it takes care of paying the government my estimates and
10:42 oh geez I wish I had done this years and years ago okay so I and similar with
10:48 bench if you are introduced to let me know um I can refer you and get you a hookup for I don't know I think it's a
10:53 couple months or something like that again but I can't just give you a link it has to be like a personal referral so
10:59 if you do want access and you you know want some some a month or two for you or
11:07 whatever they whatever they give let me know and I can make sure I hook that hook that up with you so gusto is really cool a great great
11:15 company for payment processing or payroll processing and they integrate
11:20 really tightly with bench so the two services really work well together next
11:26 up is my accountant I do have a CPA um that I she files my taxes every year
11:33 right um so bench Augusto get all those note walls this will be the first year 2018 that I kind of have a lot of that
11:40 stuff done for me so it'll be interesting to see when I do my 2018 taxes how much easier it is to file my
11:46 taxes with my accountant because there'll be a lot less work for me to do which will be nice now this year I do
11:53 have to say I a great friend of mine he runs a podcast called the small business
11:58 show and dave hamilton and he also runs a matt geek gab and mac observer and a
12:05 bunch of other you know companies and he had a podcast show recently that talked
12:13 about taxes and whatnot and what I did this year with first time ever is I just
12:18 filed an extension um and what that does is hey it's it's kind of brilliant
12:24 actually Dave I do have to commend you on this one so instead of trying to you know kill myself to get everything filed
12:30 and done by well for businesses its March 15th right Filan extension gives you an extra six
12:36 months and not only does it give me extra time to get all my paperwork ready but when I do work with my CPA she'll
12:45 have more time to spend with me and it's not going to be so rushed because during tax time right between January to March
12:52 my CPA is just bogged down helping out dozens probably a hundred more plus
12:59 clients right so getting personal service from your CPA during that time
13:04 period just isn't doable so yeah filing extension I will actually
13:11 to be honest I've been working so hard on Weaver space that I haven't even looked at my taxes for 2017 yet so I'm
13:20 glad that I did file extension obviously for this year because um this this project getting Weaver space done is
13:26 huge for me it is my number one priority and even above filing my taxes so that
13:32 extension give me at least six months so I'm this summer I'll definitely be working with my CPA hopefully getting a
13:38 little bit more attention from her not quite so rushed so I'm looking forward to that next up legalese so I hired a
13:47 new lawyer this year as well um and that was another thing I wanted to get off my plate in terms of you know helping
13:52 someone help me you know creating a good Terms of Service and making sure that you know I have all that stuff in line
13:59 I know gdpr is the big main point I am NOT gonna talk about gdpr today oh my god I am so sick of it but you know
14:05 making sure that I have all of that taken care of you probably actually know my lawyer his name's David sparks he is
14:11 aka Mac Sparky he is at marks Mac Sparky comm he also runs a very popular podcast
14:19 called Mac power users and so yeah I am looking forward to working with David I just recently hired him so I'm looking
14:26 forward I love David I've known him for years actually and I just connected the dots when he went solo about six months
14:32 ago from his his law firm or maybe was a year ago now and just connected the dots of oh I need a lawyer
14:38 David's a lawyer duh right um next up his employees I also you have me my wife
14:43 and my children are employees of my company right yes I do employ my
14:49 children um not only because they helped me out alright my little guys helped me out
14:54 with stuff my older son he's starting to get into maybe editing some podcasts and videos for me
15:01 maybe we'll get him to help out with some email support pretty soon I don't know who knows let's see where where
15:07 life takes us and so yeah that's interesting team communication 100% zoom and slack okay
15:16 slack we have a slack group I'm not gonna you probably all know what slack is right slack is a chatroom that we
15:23 talk chat all day long help each other go back and forth with tickets or issues or you know just general chitchat and it's
15:31 really good to view people face-to-face since we are a hundred percent virtual with a company so we use oome every day
15:38 all day long to do video chats okay now I've gone through all the boring stuff
15:44 and now I'm getting into the exciting stuff of what tools do I use to run my business because I know that's really
15:50 really what you want and I noticed I'm already sixteen minutes in and man I've got a huge list
15:56 of software that I use okay so development side obviously for on
16:03 development I use github and bitbucket um some of my I have some older
16:08 repositories that I've just been too lazy to move off bitbucket onto github I do pay for a business github repository
16:15 so that I can have private repos so all my stacks all my product code is all in a private git repo I have a get I have a
16:23 team on github so that you know people like like TAV can actually you know access all of that as well
16:29 so another reason I like gave github is it's issue tracker pretty much um you
16:37 know I prefer it's issue tracker over a bit bucket I also use an app called be from météo and it sports github and I
16:47 just love that app for managing my bugs and feature requests and all that stuff
16:52 so that's how I you know those were the tools I use for development side I also
16:59 have a kind of a homegrown tool called steak that I've spent total probably six
17:05 to eight months of time developing and that's just kind of a tool that I use to you know release my products and it auto
17:12 post a very social networks it you know helps me build my documentation portal
17:17 and it does all kinds of stuff right so automation is key when you're a solopreneur like myself
17:23 and you have 150 products Automation is key let me say that again Automation is
17:29 key if if you don't know how to write little programs and scripts to automate your life for mundane things I couldn't
17:40 do what I do today without automation so I my scripting tool of choice is Ruby
17:46 I love Ruby um but yeah I only use I don't use rails not really a rails guy but Ruby love it
17:53 for scripting and automation and things of that nature so yeah next up is tools
18:00 that I use for support and testing I've already kind of gone over Zendesk and how much I love Zendesk it's
18:05 indispensable support tool if you email support at your open a net or some or new email address support at weavers dot
18:11 space it goes and generates a ticket into Zendesk we can then manage that so
18:17 yeah Zendesk is awesome other tools I use for testing okay first is email on acid I talked
18:24 about this in our email podcast but it's just a great way of testing and seeing how your email that you did that you
18:31 built using the email stacks looks inside every email client out there
18:36 Yahoo Gmail iPhones uh you know Gmail Outlook all versions about look right
18:43 and basically you put in the HTML for your email and it will automatically generate previews from every device out
18:50 there so you could see how it looks really cool um it's it's a little pricey it's the cheapest of the ones that are
18:56 out there there's other tools like litmus and some other ones and email on
19:01 acid is is probably at least half the price of the other ones so it's good I I
19:07 probably don't it has a lot of other features like an inspiration gallery and things of that nature that I don't
19:13 really utilize it's something I'm gonna look into early later this year so that I can hopefully maybe get a little bit
19:19 more out of the service since I'm paying for it next is browser stack and that is
19:24 primarily a way for me to test Internet Explorer right browser stacks really cool it allows me to open up a web page
19:29 in any OS in any browser and any like tons of different versions but I
19:35 primarily use it for explore testing I used to have like a VMware instance or parallels instance
19:41 that I would fire up Windows and then open up Internet Explorer and that just
19:47 got difficult to manage and browser stacks awesome if now one thing about browser stack I'll let you let you in on
19:54 a little secret okay is on their pricing page there is if you scroll down towards
20:00 the bottom there's like freelancer pricing it's a link for freelancer pricing and I think it's like 15 bucks a
20:05 month and that's what I use you know it's hard to justify for especially for
20:11 you know the common person some of their other payment plans but the freelancer
20:16 package just fit exactly what I need I don't need it very often some months I don't even use it at all so but when I
20:23 need it it's it's a very good tool I could fire up I find it works best in Chrome I'm more a safari guy but I fire
20:29 up Chrome and because it has like a little um a browser plugin for Chrome that you just click the toolbar choose your OS and your your browser and it
20:37 automatically goes to that site for you I don't need to like log in the browser stack every time the the add-on in
20:42 chrome just does it all for you which is pretty slick so I primarily use Chrome for for
20:48 browser stack but really cool service love it tools I use for marketing and analytics
20:54 and things of that nature okay so actually just marketing analytics I'm gonna do separately so I use sendee it
21:02 is a self installed email provider so instead of MailChimp my current email
21:09 list is about twenty five thousand between 25 to 30,000 people somewhere around there and to manage that many
21:16 users on MailChimp or any other hosted email service is a lot of money
21:24 especially since right now I'll be honest I don't I don't use email marketing good enough I don't send out
21:30 constant you know drip campaigns or anything like that much I do have a few that I talked about in the email
21:36 episodes but I don't do it enough to to warrant how
21:42 much it would cost for me to move to something like MailChimp or convertkit or things of that nature so I use send e
21:47 itself installed I think it's like 60 bucks and if you if you're scared about installing it I think you pay them and
21:53 they'll like 150 bucks and the whole install it for you or something like that but it just runs on a server and
22:00 and it has a my sequel database and it's just a web app that I use but it's my own right and it uses Amazon SES to send
22:08 out 20,000 emails it cost me like a dollar or two dollars or something like that right it's very little so it's like
22:14 nothing okay next up in my marketing tools is buffer I use buffer for
22:20 scheduling of social media posts and so I can post something once to buffer and
22:26 it will automatically post it to Google+ Twitter Facebook I think that's it I
22:33 think it just posted those three places right now right but it it's cool like I have a
22:39 Google+ page and I know a lot of you might love Google+ but I'm not really on there anymore um so but it's nice for
22:46 you know for those that users that are on Google+ like they can follow my page and get the updates that way right same
22:53 thing for Facebook right I'm not too active on my business Facebook page personally um if you post any comments
22:59 there I will reply to you but all the posts there basically we put we you know
23:04 we schedule them a buffer and buffer we'll post it to our Weaver space Facebook page we were spaced Twitter and you know our
23:10 Weaver space Google+ page right so buffer is a great way to schedule those
23:16 out and automatically post in multiple locations at once I talked about convert
23:23 Fox I haven't started using it yet it's something that I'm definitely I want to do to help me build more sales funnels
23:29 and things of that nature um spark chart that is a interesting service that I subscribed to last year
23:36 that I haven't leveraged yet okay but it's a it's a questionnaire form right
23:42 so it's when I'm ready to start asking you guys about for help and you know do
23:47 mean like forms I could use Google Forms right um and that's obviously free but spark chart looked like an interesting
23:53 thing for me to to ask you questions and it not be a Google Form so yeah not
24:00 being Google Forms good for me next up tools is zoom I currently to talked about zoom quite a bit um video
24:07 online video chat use it for team communication as well as hangouts and you'd be using it more for webinars
24:12 going forward so zoom is a great great tool to use relay that is a kind of like
24:19 a popular thing out there is called canva but really that's kind of a competitor kind of the underdog but I
24:26 got a like type a lifetime subscription to that and it's a interesting service that lets you create images that are
24:34 that will automatically sized himself for the social media platform that you are you
24:42 know targeting right so it's an online image creation tool that has pre-made like you know layouts and very cool
24:49 things like infographics and things of that nature it's really cool and then it'll auto export like if you're posting
24:54 it to Facebook it knows exactly what image size is good for Facebook and what's best for Instagram and what's
24:59 best for Twitter and things of that nature so really that's really good for that stuff um next up is to buddy to
25:07 buddy is a service that ties in to YouTube and it's essentially a really powerful
25:14 YouTube channel manager and I just recently got it so I don't I don't not
25:19 an expert at it yet but I definitely want to grow my YouTube platform my
25:24 channel so that it's it's easier to find things and that it just it just be nicer
25:31 so I think to buddy will help me grow my youtube channel and make it nicer for
25:37 you as the user to make sure I know what you're listening to how long you're listening to videos and things of that
25:43 nature so that I can improve and make better videos for you okay now a couple
25:48 services that I'm contemplating one is called Edgar and another one is called post planner and there's kind of similar
25:56 to buffer in that but the only thing is like with Edgar and post planner I can create a bucket of social media posts
26:02 and then it'll just randomly like pick you know things out of these buckets and
26:08 post them to social media right so buffer I have to explicitly schedule things out and if you have to explicitly
26:15 do something a lot of times it just won't work but if I can make a bucket of 200 social media posts that it will just
26:22 randomly choose from in post then chances are if you're gonna do it more so looking at Edgar and post planner
26:32 sure what the with the you know oranges and apples are of those too but there are my list of things to evaluate for
26:37 this year to see if they can help me be better at interacting with you guys in
26:43 and posting things that you would find interesting okay next up is some design
26:50 tools um so obviously rapidweaver um I'm not gonna dive in a rap Weaver and all
26:55 the products and stacks into there you know that we use rapidweaver but a couple services that I supply two
27:02 are actually Adobe so type kit and Adobe stock type kit if you want great fonts
27:08 at a great price type kit is really hard to beat I think it's like 40 bucks a
27:14 year um and or something like that and it's just a great value you have access
27:21 to some really great fonts it's fast so I really recommend type kit um now on my
27:29 new Weaver space design I'm actually gonna be using typography calm eye a very very cool font and I'm excited
27:36 about that I'm gonna be able to use and licensed that font on Weaver space so
27:41 I'm really excited about that so check out wait for that new awesome beautiful font that you're gonna be seeing on Weaver space and that's brought to you
27:49 by Hoffler and company which is typography calm a lot more expensive than type kit but I think for the value
27:56 type kit is the best online font boundary out there so our online fonts
28:03 service has to say then Adobe stock we've talked about this in the images episode there's a lot of great stock
28:09 services out there but I just Adobe stock it just has great quality stuff
28:14 so I pay 30 bucks a month and I get 10 downloads a month and they a cure so you know they build up so if I don't use all
28:21 ten you know they they roll over to the next month so that's great
28:26 Financial Services um I kind of talked about this already a bench PayPal I
28:31 talked about we use that for payment processing gusto is my payroll processor and cart loom cart loom is my shopping
28:38 my shopping cart software and I couldn't be online and do sales without cart loom
28:44 I would just be frank with you I I I probably wouldn't be around and have an
28:49 online store if it weren't for cart loom so I remember back in the day back in 2009
28:55 Mike bedre emailed me and was like yo dude I have this new thing called cart
29:02 loom would you want to be a beta tester for it and at the same time Isaiah of your head was saying dude you
29:08 should start selling your stacks they're pretty cool and I just put one on one together hey Isaiah thinks I should sell
29:14 this stuff Mike's got this beta thing I should test out the shopping cart software let's give it a go and almost
29:22 ten years later I'm still going at it so major props to cart loom I love it it's
29:28 a great service if you need shopping cart software kirtland handles all the
29:34 headaches for you so it's really good stuff so check out cart loom I'm excited
29:40 about it next up hosting so weird where's Weaver space hosted what do we
29:46 do it so I've been on DreamHost for years it was since the early 2000s
29:53 probably and so I kind of have my all my domains hosted at DreamHost
29:59 they're a nice service I think they have good fair pricing I think I pay for like
30:04 my VPS I pay like $100 a year or something like that and I primarily use that hope that host is like my test
30:11 ground right so that's like my test host I I run all my test sites on it and I
30:16 it's just my my utility server that I use I then host my own servers using digital
30:24 ocean now I have three servers with digitalocean I have one in San Francisco
30:30 and then I have two of them in New York in different data centers so I think
30:36 it's very important I gia graphically I have I can geographically move my
30:42 website from ones from New York to San Francisco if need be so I do this
30:47 strategically so that if anything happens in San Francisco I can fail my site over to New York by default my all
30:54 my sites run off in New York okay all my New York servers because half my
30:59 customer base is in Europe so I want to make sure that there is the least possible you know
31:07 physical distance from them right so I have my New York servers run Joker net
31:15 net and Weaver space web sites as well as you know foundation stacks comm and total CMS calm all those sat all those
31:22 sites right those weren't off my New York servers and again I purposely chose New York so that was it was still in the US but as
31:29 close as possible to Europe so that we don't have any sort of issues
31:35 geographically okay but of let's say you know something happened to the data
31:41 center in New York or there is a power outage in New York I can fail my sites over just by switching DNS of my domains
31:49 over to my San Francisco servers and I can fully run my all my websites from
31:55 there as well so that's why I have multiple hosts in multiple geographic
32:00 locations so that I can quickly failover those hosts if need be right always you
32:09 know datacenters you probably get emails from your host we have some scheduled outage at this time what I do is I just
32:14 make sure that if my New York host has a scheduled outage if it's gonna be for
32:19 any length of time I'll just fail that over to San Francisco the day before and when everything is done I'll fail it
32:25 back over to New York and you as the users never see that hopefully you never see any issues but yeah I just want to
32:33 make sure that since these sites are running my livelihood in my business that I protect myself by doing that so
32:41 now my San Francisco server I have things like you know my send e my email server that runs off by San
32:48 Francisco server I run a my own analytics package called matome o formally P WIC and instead of
32:54 Google Analytics and all of that runs off my San Francisco server as well so all of those stats and all the databases
33:00 for that stuff all reside in my San Francisco server so that's my hosting companies um some
33:08 other services I use obviously YouTube is a video service I use YouTube for video hosting um I've tried many over
33:15 the years actually I still have some videos on Vimeo and Wistia and um I used
33:22 to be exclusive exclusively on Vimeo and the reason I moved off was YouTube is
33:28 the number two search engine in the world and if you're not on YouTube then
33:34 you're not being found and so I wanted to move all of my videos over to YouTube and for a while I was doing both YouTube
33:40 and Vimeo because I thought vimeos player was a lot better um but YouTube
33:45 to really improve their player a lot um I really really liked it I think they've done a nice job of it um you know they
33:51 have a lot of customizations that you can add to the player to make turn off some of the annoying things like the the thumbnails at the end and the stuff like
33:58 that so I'm going all-in with YouTube I'm going you know I'm focusing on my
34:04 youtube channel more this year to make that and grow that as a you know obviously a video platform so YouTube's
34:11 great Wistia I still have some videos on Wistia I have to pay for Wistia every month and pretty soon I'm going to move
34:19 everything off of Wistia and stop paying for it um Wistia has a really beautiful player it really is top notch and they
34:27 have great great great analytics about their videos but it's expensive and I
34:34 really don't need to be spending money on it if I don't have to I'm just gonna go all-in with YouTube Vimeo is nice
34:41 it's a nice alternative they have a pro package as well that lets you even do more customizations and removing the branding and all that jazz so if you
34:50 want to go to Vimeo I think that's a good solution their pro thing I think is like 60 bucks a year I think I even
34:55 still pay for that but yeah I'm going I'm going all-in with YouTube I just
35:00 think they're their players decent and if you want to take be taken seriously and people find you you got to be on
35:07 YouTube so that's that next up this podcast weaver radio.com
35:13 we host this on transistor it's a new start up by a good new friend of mine Justin Jax
35:19 and yeah he started this a few months ago and asked me if I wanted to early
35:24 access so transistor got FM it's a really great podcasting platform I like
35:29 it a lot it's interface everything about it is just really nice and top-notch so
35:34 yeah it's kind of transparent you don't really see it but even the weaver radio comm is hosted by transistor FM so they
35:42 create the entire website for you in their back-end so I don't have to worry about it
35:47 so it's nice transistor FM it's a really good service and lastly for hosting is
35:53 Amazon so Amazon s3 all of my digital downloads for all of my products they're
35:58 all zip files and they're all hosted on Amazon s3 also if you get auto updates
36:04 from any of my products for any version all of those Sparkle updates are all hosted on Amazon s3 as well so I do use
36:13 Amazon for what I use it for it's pretty cheap I know eventually um it might get expensive but I think you know we're
36:21 getting into if I 10x business or something like that or even more but right now Amazon is working well for me
36:27 it only cost me like 20 bucks a month for you know all the stuff that I host and serve off of s3 okay analytics I
36:37 kind of mentioned this briefly I run a service called matome oh and it's formerly called P WIC they just
36:43 renamed it a couple months ago actually and um yeah I just I wanted to get off
36:49 Google Analytics I don't know it just the interface for GUI that group the
36:55 interface for Google Analytics is kind of confusing I can never find the reports that I wanted or the data that I needed and P WIC or matome o is just
37:03 easy the interface is nice it's simple um it gives me everything I need
37:08 plus I own all the data right um it's not on Google server
37:14 I'm tired of renting space of other services I I really do prefer running my
37:20 own stuff um now I've been running business for about ten years now and you know I'm
37:27 technical enough that I can install and manage all this stuff and I really do enjoy running it and knowing that if you
37:34 know Google isn't gonna change analytics and screw me right matome Oh was there
37:41 they supply routine updates it is open source and they have paid plugins which
37:47 is how they make money right and they have some nice plugins I mean I haven't jumped the gun and bought any of them
37:52 yet they're the ones that I'd like are kind of pricey but you know maybe one day I'll jump in on the bandwagon and
37:59 get some of the nice plugins like they have a thing of video analytics one that looks kind of cool and I like to play
38:05 around with that see how that works out a service that I'm looking at for more business related analytics and I want to
38:13 do that with with moto Malak J's is get more into like the the e-commerce conversion goals and things of that
38:19 nature right Google Analytics has that stuff but I'd love to get more of that data to
38:24 get more business related metrics not just you know metrics on you know what browsers people
38:31 are using well that stuff's important you know how many referrers I have that the traditional website analytic stuff I
38:37 really need more business I want to get more business metrics that I can really get to know the trends in the business
38:44 that I can improve things and make things better so I am looking at a service called bear metrics they have
38:51 some really beautiful graphs and reporting they're primarily for SAS
38:56 applications though and I need to talk to them see if it will make a service
39:03 like theirs would make sense for me but before I do any of that I think I need to make sure that I try Mottola first
39:09 since it has all kinds of e-commerce goals and reporting's and things of that nature just like Google Analytics does
39:15 but I would be excited to see that information to see how I could use that
39:21 data to improve things for for you and for Weaver space um so yeah Oh last last
39:30 thing I list was finances but I kind of went over that striped PayPal Cart loom so yeah that was kind of exhaustive
39:38 exhaustive I am I really need a glass of water right now I hope you found this
39:43 useful guys um I don't know if you maybe found interesting maybe it was just completely boring um I know a lot of you
39:50 you know people love hearing about tools and stuff and this isn't really apps this is like business related tools and
39:58 stuff that I'm using for to grow my business but hopefully you get a little bit out of it and I appreciate it
