0:01
how's everybody doing today The Usual
0:06
Suspects Martin thanks for popping in David Dr
0:12
Bob Peter Mr Cole excellent okay um so I thought it would
0:20
be fun today to uh yeah I know we we've talked about structured Data before um
0:26
several times but um I've seen quite a few uh discussions about it on the
0:32
community lately uh one in particular was today so I thought hey you know what maybe it's time to kind of review um
0:39
structur data in 2024 okay and uh you know some of the
0:45
ins and outs now a lot of the other talks where I've talked about structure data I talked about SEO in general and
0:51
structure data was part of it today we are only going to talk about structured data that's it okay so yeah we're going
0:59
to dedicate it uh hopefully I don't know if I'm going to go for an hour or maybe we'll go shorter I don't know we'll see
1:05
whenever I think we're going to go shorter I just keep talking right can't shut me up I guess sometimes uh no
1:11
matter how much Josh tries um Mr Workman
1:17
Powers Josh is here I hope that audio and visuals are
1:22
okay I I I didn't ask uh everything is green now I think I solved my plagued
1:27
issue from earlier this year where uh for a few weeks you know I was having some streaming issues so luckily looked
1:33
like we got all that squared away okay um so to start off I I you
1:39
know what actually before that I spent like 20 minutes getting all the URLs I wanted to show you guys today in Safari
1:46
like and had all the tabs open and right before I started the stream I freaking closed sa the Safari
1:53
window and now all the tabs are gone great what an idiot sometimes um but
2:00
anyway let's go ahead and I want to show
2:08
you yes Henrik so yeah you asked a question on the community and you know a lot of times it was like what am I going
2:14
to talk about today and your I saw your question and was like hey you know what and there there have been a lot of other
2:20
questions talking about structured data so I figured why not let's go ahead and uh talk about it
2:27
so okay let's go ahead and share my screen right um so first off I do want
2:36
to share uh let's just go to the Weaver Space Youtube channel okay and if we go
2:42
to lives um SEO again I am only going to be talking
2:47
about structure data today if you didn't know you can go to YouTube and instead of searching up here if you go to
2:53
straight to my channel okay um you can actually search just my channel okay so
2:59
that's super very convenient you guess what you can also go to Stacks guru.com I'll I'll give I got to give Chris some
3:06
love for for all the work here Stacks guru.com right and you can
3:12
search uh all my videos here as well right um and he has a form if there's
3:19
any videos that you find are missing go ahead and submit a form and uh and there we go so yeah a lot of great talks let's
3:26
see let's see if I can find the talks that I was going to mention today that youve you haven't watched you should
3:31
this was first one technical SEO tactics for 2019 um I know it says 2019 okay but
3:38
guys and I know that seems like five years ago it was a long time but technical SEO doesn't progress that fast
3:45
there are some new things and we'll talk about some new things in in today um but yeah great video I remember this one
3:53
it's still good still great okay also look at
4:00
okay well there we're going to go over here and um other ones so there we go
4:05
technical SEO tactics um SEO checklist okay from 2020
4:12
2021 okay that's a good one and next one is test and fix SEO issues on your
4:18
website okay another one from that's from 2020 so there we go check out those
4:24
three videos if you haven't watched those those are give a lot more General SEO
4:30
um and they do talk about structure data a little bit but there's a lot more data in there about SEO okay and then
4:38
okay um if we go to uh the summit site if you've attended Summits in the past
4:45
you bought tickets for this year's Summit right we're one month away one month April 5th to the 7th 100% online
4:54
get your tickets to The Summit it's going to be great okay but um I'm not here to sell you on that well maybe I am
5:01
but I want to show you if you go to the replays um and we go to filter and we
5:06
filter by SEO there's some great talks in here as well okay um so if you bought a ticket
5:13
this year you get access to all the past videos okay so um I did a video I did a
5:19
talk on SEO for 2023 last year it's a nice one I actually skimmed through it this morning um and yeah I was like wow
5:27
that I did a really nice presentation on that so that's a good one um Mari does a fabulous job I don't know if you're he
5:33
Mari watching sometimes she watches these lives um amazing talk on
5:38
content um Andy Allen of hik SEO gave a great talk on easy wins and then we had
5:44
some big guns uh also uh Josh Hardwick from hrefs okay if you know hrefs I
5:51
think they're a great company um and one of the pre premium SEO tools uh in the
5:56
world right now okay he talks about uh traffic and then um Brandon huford did a uh or
6:03
Hufford sorry did a great talk on local SEO which I think is very important there's if you have local businesses and
6:09
you want to do some local SEO definitely check that out and the infamous Brett carmichel and Greg barchard has a couple
6:16
great talks here too but um yeah so that is a ton of really great highlevel um or
6:24
high value I should say content on um SEO right um but today like I said we're
6:31
going to be talking about structured data um and I wanted to tell you if you go to
6:39
help resources there is actually a link here okay um if you didn't know go to
6:46
help resources I have some cool uh you know things here that kind of static
6:51
resources that you can check out um all kinds of things so uh the second one here is actually on Google structure
6:58
data I didn't add this today it's been there since January actually um so yeah
7:03
we're going to go ahead and we're going to look at um this one right here actually we're going to go aad and open
7:09
that and actually while we're here we're going to open up this one too okay
7:17
but actually actually first let me let me back up a little bit before we start diving into structure data let's talk
7:24
about what the heck structure data is right what is structured data
7:31
so our websites have data obviously okay
7:39
and in order for we want people to find our websites and in order to find them
7:46
we need to have good content on our websites now it's it's getting to the point where um yes Google can can
7:55
completely index all of our web pages but at some point Google needs to guess
8:03
at what something is that it's looking at right so um if we go to here let's
8:09
just quickly go to um let me share my screen again okay
8:16
um right if we go to Weaver space okay um and Google's let's say Google's
8:22
indexing this page and it Google doesn't know what letter press is or moving box or SEO
8:30
helper or it doesn't know if Weaver space is a knitting website or for web design right it doesn't
8:36
know it it it has to try to guess and decipher based on the content of the web
8:42
page and the type of people that are linking to it and and all all kinds of other stuff it has to guess and it
8:50
wouldn't it be nicer if we can kind of help Google a little bit okay
8:55
and we help Google through a few things there are meta tags obviously on the
9:00
page which we're not going over today okay title description um other meta
9:06
tags on the page right um but there are other things called structured data and this tells helps
9:15
tell Google a little bit more about the content that's on the web page right for
9:21
example um actually we're going to go another a page I actually had up I think it was
9:27
uh UR inspection tool okay so we're going to go to now this is a part of
9:33
oops I wanted to open that in a new tab uh hold on I got to open up URL inspection tool okay good um so this uh
9:41
inside Google search console um hopefully I'm not going to review Google search console I've done it in those
9:47
other videos I talked about okay hopefully you know what it is and hopefully you've added your site to Google search
9:53
console okay I'm going to go ahead and inspect um the Weaver space Stacks page
9:58
okay so um I told Google hey look at this web
10:06
URL and tell me what you know about it okay and guess what it found a bunch of
10:14
products okay and look at all these products it found it found all these products which you I know every single
10:21
one of you have every single one of these products right um and if we look
10:26
boom now now there there are some non-critical ISS isues and that's because I don't have some optional
10:32
Fields okay some people email me why don't I you know they're optional okay
10:39
there are there's a reason why some fields are required and some are optional on my site I decided not I
10:44
didn't want these optional Fields okay um so there we go nanner nanner um but
10:51
it successfully found 126 products and this was if you're curious it was my
10:57
stacks page right so I told Google to Index this page and it found all of
11:03
these now Google knows they are products because I have structured data on this
11:11
web page okay now you might be asking where are you adding this structure data Joe um I'll show you where I added it in
11:19
this in this page just for fun okay um just so you can see it I'm not going to
11:24
explain it all I'm just going to show you where it exists okay let me go ahead and try to make this
11:41
um there it is okay so if we see inside this layout
11:48
okay I have I have this layout here um and inside there uh it this looks probably very funky because the
11:55
inspector kind of does this right um but here is what's structured data about
12:01
this particular product right so we're looking at this this product and each one has these structured data inside
12:08
each of these has a bit of structured data and that structured data informs
12:13
Google that hey this is a product the product's name is slot machine 4 here's
12:19
a small description about it here's some URLs to images for that product right um
12:24
it's for a brand of Weaver space Here's the price for that product so on and so
12:29
on and so on okay so um structured data
12:35
is metadata that isn't a meta tag okay it's it's more it's more Rich it has
12:41
more data okay if you looked through all this and we'll we'll see it fur later on
12:47
today um all the data that it has right so that is what structure data does for
12:54
us where was that page boom it tells Google about things on our web
13:00
pages specific things right so it Google Now knows that this web page contains
13:07
126 products and then obviously if you were to go to each individual product page there's a Json for that particular
13:15
product right um so there we
13:24
go okay um so kind of talks a little bit about
13:31
structured data and what it is and what it can do for us now um let me back up a
13:37
little bit more because a lot of times if you if you search the web or you read things about structured data okay you're
13:44
inevitably going to find yourself at this website schema.org
13:50
okay now I have wasted many of hours on this
13:55
website um especially when I first learned about struct structure data this was many years ago when it was not quite
14:02
as there wasn't much content on it about it right uh when I first added it to SEO
14:07
helper which we'll talk about in a little bit what is schema.org well if we look
14:14
here schema.org is founded by Google Microsoft Yahoo and Yandex
14:20
Yandex is a Russian search engine okay um so basically all these companies kind
14:26
of got together to form like this a standard basically okay and this website
14:33
has hundreds maybe even thousands of different schemas okay and uh it's
14:40
they've changed it I kind of had to relearn it a little bit today before they just had like a huge list of everything now there's too much to have
14:46
one list so they've kind of created this this hierarchy of things right so um if
14:52
we go to like uh a place so we have things and then there's a place under
14:57
place there's accommodation and there's administrative areas here let's go to here's a local business
15:03
right and if we click into any of those we can see here's all the data attributes that we can add to a local
15:11
business I mean there's just a lot and it's this this site is very overwhelming
15:16
because there's a lot of data and not very much help okay um if you're new to
15:24
structured data okay uh now if you scroll down a little bit more it helps us out it kind of gives us a little bit
15:30
of information so um another thing to talk about is there you'll see that
15:35
there's different ways of doing structured data I'm not going to confuse you with all these other ones Json LD is
15:42
the way to go okay so um that's what SEO helper
15:47
uses um so in particular here is a structured data for this
15:54
particular um data type which is a local business
15:59
okay now here in this local business there's other as you see here we have type restaurant but here's a nice
16:04
example you can copy and paste this and kind of do your own little data massaging to to help you out here or you
16:12
can use SEO helper okay um but there's they they do have some examples towards
16:17
the bottom which I think are a little bit more helpful than this big huge thing here okay these are just all the
16:24
various data attributes that you can add okay um um so anyway I don't want to confuse you
16:31
too much but there are hundreds of schemas available on data on schema.org
16:39
now I'm going to tell you right now just stay out of that site don't
16:45
waste your time okay because let me get rid of some of these web pages I don't need
16:52
anymore um because there are as I said hundreds or possibly over a thousand maybe multi
17:00
thousands of schemas available on schema.org okay let me let me have a little heart
17:06
tohe heart here okay there are many of them for example Hendrick today right oh
17:12
sorry Henrik okay I'm sorry if I'm pronouncing your name wrong Henrik um he
17:18
found that on schema.org there was a service schema for a service business
17:23
and he's like you know what none of the none of the schemas that SEO helper have kind of fit into what my business is I
17:31
have a service business and there's a schema for that okay but
17:39
okay Google doesn't support a schema for a service business so you can add a schema to your
17:47
website for service but if Google doesn't support it
17:52
then what's the point right um does that make sense right so I mean you can go in schema and
17:59
find a schema that fits exactly what your little niche Niche Niche is in the
18:04
world but if Google doesn't support that structured data schema then there's zero
18:10
point in putting it on your website in my opinion okay maybe you put it there so
18:16
in the future Google might support it okay maybe if you want to do that work
18:22
but I think it's a waste of time okay so how do we know what Google supports
18:28
right okay and actually I I was per in preparation for today I saw that Google's actually added quite a lot that
18:34
SEO helper which we haven't talked about SEO helper yet um but I'm assuming probably most of you here are aware of
18:41
SEO Helper and own it um SEO helper supports a lot of structure data um it used to support every structured data
18:47
that Google supports and now Google's kind of leaped frogged me a little bit and uh it it has a bunch that I don't
18:53
support yet yet being the keyword okay um so I got to this web page via um that
19:01
help resource on Weaver space right so if we go to Weaver space right remember if we go to help
19:08
resources and we scroll down in here right here Google structure data this is the documentation from Google for
19:14
structured data okay and you can go we're going to review a lot of this today I'm not going to go through this
19:20
web page word for word but we're going to talk about all of it okay um over
19:25
here in the sidebar though this is important one you'll see featur guides
19:33
okay you scroll down right these are all
19:39
the schemas that are supported by Google these ones are not a waste of
19:46
your time okay for example if we go to
19:53
article okay there is a dedicated page to article you can go in here and you can see the exact snippet that you would
19:59
need okay or you can use SEO helper okay but here's the exact data snippet that
20:05
you would need okay it it gives you some more guidelines and some more information about it uh in some of cases
20:13
it actually gives you a little previews of what if you implement this on your web pages what your s potentially what
20:20
your Google will serve up your your pages as right um we'll see that in in some of the other ones that I know have
20:26
examples I'll show you okay um and if you scroll down here's all of the the
20:31
data fields and the type of data that Google expects to be in there okay um so
20:38
yeah this is important right it has a little dos and don'ts here okay um so
20:46
anyway this is this is the web page you should be looking at to helwith schema.org
20:53
okay these are the structure data items that you will want
20:59
okay now for example let's go I know a big one that Google does is recipes and
21:05
structure SEO helper does not currently support structured data oh shoot I'm not
21:10
sharing my screen darn
21:17
it I hate when I do that hate when I do that okay Jesus let me back up
21:24
rewind okay thanks you can you can thank Jos she texted me on my Apple watch I was like who's who's texting me on my
21:31
Apple watch here while my live stream's going on okay back up
21:41
Jesus let me back up here is the web documentation page for Google okay and I
21:48
got to this through I hate when I do that um go to heal
21:55
resources right here struct Google structure data here's the documentation
22:00
page for it okay you can also just Google or search uh your you know Google
22:07
structure data and it'll be one of the top results okay but I have the link here in the help resources uh section on
22:14
waver space Community okay okay right so what I was showing
22:19
you what is important okay now remember all that impactful things I was just telling you about is over here featured
22:26
guides okay on the web page featured
22:32
guides okay um these featured guides here on the side these are the ones that
22:38
you care about we don't care about schema.org
22:44
because these implementing all of these things are not a waste of your time or
22:50
are less a waste of your time um um some of them I think some of them maybe don't
22:56
give you too much benefit but they're super easy it doesn't take a ton of time and it's kind of a onetime thing set it and forget it sort of thing okay um so
23:03
what I what I showed a second ago was Article so if we look at the article um we'll see that there's a nice
23:09
documentation page from Google Google's actually made this doc site for structure data much better over the
23:14
years okay um and it gives you a full example of what to use okay now you can
23:21
go ahead and copy and paste this into a probably an HTML stack right um don't
23:26
use the default HTM stack um use either the one from Foundation 6 or the one
23:32
from my starter pack okay uh yeah use one of those okay um they're a little
23:38
bit different okay um so use one of those and um or use my SEO helper stack
23:46
okay which hopefully everyone here has okay because uh it supports and I Know It supports article and a bunch of
23:52
others but like I said earlier Su helper doesn't support all of these yet
23:58
okay um so here's an example um they have a lot of documentation on all the various fields that are required okay
24:05
they have some best practices on how to do things okay so if you have multiple authors versus one author or all kinds
24:12
of kind of like little gotchas right um so yeah and there's documentation for every single type of
24:19
structured data now I noticed that they had a couple like there's book actions and then down here there's vacation
24:25
rental okay those have these little Shields um and those particular say
24:31
limited access now I am going to speculate here um I I
24:38
read the docs or I I I didn't read this entire page word for word but I skimmed through it to try to find out what
24:44
limited access meant from what I understand only
24:50
certain allowed websites you can have this let's say a book action on your website but Google
24:59
will only accept it from certain websites probably you know in this particular action you know uh um Amazon Google
25:07
Books Barnes & Noble right so if you're if you were like an accredited or an approved book dealer from Google then
25:15
this structured data will work okay and for example like if you're doing a vacation rental I'm sure only sites like
25:22
Airbnb and uh VRBO you know approved sites so you just can't create your own
25:28
and expect the structured data now maybe you can have your structured data Maybe Google will see you I I don't know how
25:35
to get inside on that you know limited access thing um they don't really say
25:40
that um but yeah there are some that have limited access there's also some that are under beta so um this speakable
25:47
one uh which is actually completely new not sure what it is and the special announcement okay those are under beta
25:54
uh which means that they're obviously in testing so the the docs for these might change or something might change about
26:01
them uh I'm not going to go through each and every one of these individually okay the docs are very good um so yeah
26:09
definitely go through all the uh you know these find out what is applicable
26:14
to you and then use uh either SEO helper or you know just copy and paste um onto
26:22
your web pages sweet
26:34
okay um next up is once we've added structured data to our web pages
26:42
we want to be able to test it to make sure it's good right so um this is a
26:47
structured uh data markup testing tool okay um and I actually link to this on
26:54
the community as well so those of you asking for links go to the Weaver space Community go to help resources it's the
27:01
second article here okay if you click on see more there is a link to the schema
27:07
Mark uh markup testing tool okay um here and just for fun I guess I will put
27:14
links to these in the chat as well why not for those lazy people Mr Scott spam
27:23
okay um there we go I'll put links to both of
27:29
those okay so um there are two testing tools here Google's has one as well as
27:36
there is a one on schema okay uh like I recommended um since Google is
27:45
the reason we're doing this using their testing tool is probably for the best
27:51
okay um if there's any sort of implementations on top you know that they've done on top of the standards
27:58
um Google is going to tell you about that right so if we go let's just go ahead and click on that and um here I'm
28:04
just going to put in um let's do Bento right I haven't done
28:10
this before let's test um my structure data on the Bento
28:17
product page testing the live URL it's going to
28:23
take a minute or two let's see
28:44
[Music]
28:51
okay man it's taking a while oh there it goes hey cool um so hey look there's
28:58
there's no errors that's cool okay um so it it detected 24
29:04
items and um and why did he oh let's bring up let's bring up the product page let's bring
29:10
up vento okay um so it detected product
29:18
Snippets and detected a bunch of products on here why is that um and so
29:24
the reason it did that it was a yes this is the to product page but on the very
29:30
bottom I have this you might also like right so it it did detect
29:36
these is that good or bad I don't I don't know I I'll I'll be honest here um
29:43
I guess it kind of makes sense that I don't know is there a way for me to say hey this is the main page for
29:49
this tool but these ones are like like less important I don't know
29:55
that's a interesting question but it did find all of them right so it found the Bento and then it found all these other
30:01
products right which is interesting okay um and if you go into any of these there's those non-critical issues it's
30:08
the same things that we saw earlier I just don't use some of the optional Fields
30:13
okay um and then here successfully crawled uh
30:19
11 valid items preview results oh look and there we go it even
30:24
previews the result so um interesting so there we go it's that's in Google search
30:31
if someone were to preview you know get that as a search result then this is what they would see in the search
30:37
results that's kind of cool that's actually something new they didn't have on here before and you can preview in smartphone uh you can only preview on
30:44
smartphone okay interesting um I like that that's kind
30:50
of cool good job Google okay um seem like
30:55
there was oh go oh there go back to test so that was product Snippets and then there
31:00
was Merchant listings and again those are all the products as well interesting okay um
31:08
breadcrumbs so I have a breadcrumb uh here if you're curious what a breadcrumb is uh let's go over deer we go to
31:16
breadcrumb it determines breadcrumbs is structure that determines like the hierarchy of something right um so so in
31:23
here I have a breadcrumb of of uh the a
31:29
stack and then the higher the higher up page is rapid Weaver Stacks which I need to change so it's just Stacks right um
31:37
thou shall remove rapid Weaver from everything soon okay um so there's my
31:43
breadcrumb found that and it found an organization which is Weaver space so it found Weaver space um it found my legal
31:50
name it found the website found the logo found description all kinds of stuff right pretty cool I like
31:58
it so those are all of the search Snippets that it found now what what
32:04
other things could I do um I've actually thought about like Google has a video
32:09
one which is actually relatively a a new thing right maybe I maybe I should start
32:14
adding you know videos because on my product pages I obviously have videos here right I have videos here okay um
32:23
and then I have you know a video up here um maybe I should add structured for that so that Google can see that I have
32:29
videos on the page right even more ways of enriching my my search results by
32:35
displaying that I have videos on these pages right um so that's something I can improve on okay um let's look on what
32:42
else I could do um so I recently did add reviews um to my product pages uh so if
32:50
we look at the reviews um we have some great reviews on Bento um you know it it
32:55
could be cool to add review views now here I'm using a service for this okay
33:01
um eventually when I release cms3 I plan on redoing all uh the review system um
33:07
just using total CMS which and at that point I can then do structured data um for that um I'll look into this service
33:13
see if they support structure data reviews hopefully they do then maybe I can I can add that I'll I'll tweak into
33:18
that's something I could look into though right so reviews could be something so I did product not sure what
33:25
product variant is that's actually a new one for me not sure what product variant is um I'll have to look oh that's uh so
33:31
if you have a coat but then you have variants of that so green small medium extra large so on and so forth that
33:37
makes sense um doesn't make sense for my products but it that makes sense what a product variant is
33:45
um so we have Pro uh a movie Carousel interesting image uh I guess I
33:51
could you know you could do uh stuff about images as well so you know if if you wanted to put in maybe for
33:57
screenshots or I mean you can go all out on this how how much is it going to help you I I don't know okay but um yeah do
34:05
you want to have a piece of structure data for every single image on your page
34:10
I don't know it's up to you um but you can it's possible now home activities what is
34:20
that that's interesting one 20 minute aerobic workout reduction okay there we
34:26
go interesting boxing workout they're all workouts but I'm assuming there's more activities to
34:32
do at home than working out but okay interesting um I'm not going to dive
34:37
into each and every one of these but um yeah there's oh there's FAQs I think I
34:42
think I removed the FAQs section I did I used to have FAQs on here I removed those and moved over to the community
34:48
that's right okay um so yeah that is the structure
34:54
data testing tool right um super useful just for fun let's go ahead and look at
35:01
um let's play with the one let's go all the way back here and
35:07
let's look at this one why not we're we're playing around here let's go ahead and use this one from schema.org
35:13
uh W Stacks let's look at the same page
35:19
Bento and run test let's
35:25
see
35:36
um so zero zero errors zero warnings there we go um it found three products
35:42
for some reason only found three uh oh interesting
35:48
they're interesting
35:53
they're their testing tool isn't quite as intelligent as Google um so they're test
36:01
so if you notice this one so I found Bento right uh and then here it found um
36:07
this if you look in here there's like little twig um things okay and that's
36:12
because um down here in the HTML um that twig template exists so I
36:19
can create the structured data for each of these um and it's generated via
36:25
JavaScript and Google's smart enough to know that what I was doing and schema.org wasn't so I strike strike one
36:35
for schema.org Tool um but you can run it through there um I think Google's
36:40
tool is a little nicer um so but yeah there we go we ran it um you can kind of
36:46
see the the Json in here oh did did it actually take you to the Json when we so
36:51
if I go to organization oh yeah it kind of shows you where it is that's kind of cool cool
36:57
um Google's didn't do that but you know um it kind of shows you what it looks like in your actual web page which is
37:03
kind of cool um organization breadcrumb list so if I click on that does it oh there we
37:11
go you have to click on the individual items um I I like that but um overall I think
37:19
uh Google's tool is a little bit more valuable so okay
37:25
um so I guess now we all all we have to do now is go to implement it right so uh
37:32
let's learn about how to implement uh structure data on our web pages and go
37:37
ahead and oh look I still have this open good so if you are
37:47
adding perhaps I I can make my services home activities um depends on what sort
37:53
of services you're doing I guess um uh um okay this is a this is a
37:58
children friendly familyfriendly show here um so when you add uh let I guess
38:05
let's start over if you if you have SEO helper go ahead and add SEO meta tags to the page and then you can go ahead and
38:11
add structure data okay so you saw I had organization I also had um
38:18
breadcrumb um you can do I think on like there's website I think I I do that one on my homepage um I don't put it on
38:25
every web page page I saw someone said organization should only be on a
38:31
homepage possibly um I don't know the ramifications of that that's something
38:37
maybe we can look into at the Google they have organization here
38:43
organization what do they expect can make this
38:55
Mark examples guidelines you must follow the
39:07
guidelines oh okay so Google says so I'm doing a no no so yep someone is uh
39:13
whoever said that is right in the chat um they don't recommend you put organization on every single web page it
39:18
should be on your homepage and maybe you're about us page but that's it so um makes sense um so yeah organization
39:26
you're not going to want on every web page so good shout for whoever said that okay um so yeah make that's that's a
39:33
good point make sure if you look at these read the docs so you can kind of understand how Google is expect what
39:39
they're expecting to see okay so there we go um oops where were we uh here okay so
39:47
you're going to add all your structur data in here okay now um some structured
39:52
data though for example uh when I showed you my product pages or like on this product page um it they're all down here
40:00
oops okay these are on the bottom of the web page and as I said earlier when I showed the main Stacks page I have the
40:07
structured data embedded inside of my layout now how do we do that right um
40:13
because for this page let's say for example in here the structure data for this this product page is like in the in
40:19
the page header okay it's with all the meta tags and that's where that data goes when you add it inside of SEO
40:26
helper okay so when the structured data here let me just minimize these when all of
40:31
these are inside of the meta tag stack those are going to get added into your page head okay now what if I wanted to
40:39
have this within my grid okay I'm not going to go ahead and build out a whole product grid here um let's just go ahead and do something simple so we're going
40:45
to add a block grid and let's pretend like these block grids were um you know
40:51
a bunch of products okay um now you can automate this with total C CMS or feeds
40:57
and all that stuff okay but essentially let's say I want to add a product okay U
41:03
what you're going to do is you're just going to drag that out of the SEO helper stack and it's going to be inside your
41:11
layout right so um if you're doing this manually you're going to have a structured data for every single product
41:18
okay and then you're going to go into here into the settings and add all of your data
41:25
here okay now I do have in structured data um
41:32
let's see let's pick a different one that has some of them have let's I think local business does for
41:39
example um local business yes okay so in local business I have um basic Fields so
41:46
all of these when it's when something is there um it is going to be required okay
41:52
if it's in a group called like additional fields or maybe some have optional fields these fields are they're
41:58
optional okay so they're not necessarily required okay um and actually another
42:03
thing actually uh another way to do it is if you're looking at the structured
42:09
data for example I'm going to delete price here okay okay um price disappeared that
42:18
means it's actually not a required field okay um I deleted product name if you
42:25
notice here name is here with a blank okay that kind of gives me a hint that that's a required
42:31
field okay so if I delete the content of a field okay um then and you don't see
42:38
that here then it's an optional field I added a bunch of logic into SE hoper to kind of help us automate that okay um
42:46
but check out the Google Docs find out what they're expecting What fields they require so you can make sure that you
42:52
add the data that that you need um inside your your structured
42:58
data what are the benefits of structured data for breadcrumbs um it just it just helps
43:04
Google define um the hierarchy right of
43:09
your web page go to the breadcrumb uh product page and uh and read up on it okay but basically it just tells Google
43:17
um there's a hierarchy to your to your page structure here maybe we have website and then books and then a book
43:24
or a category and then book or something like right so it kind of gives a a gives Google a hint on your hierarchy of your
43:31
web page okay we should also be doing that with URLs right so um you know if
43:37
you're doing proper SEO again covered in other videos here I have my domain
43:42
Stacks Bento right I mean I have an obvious structure to my URLs here okay
43:50
that's very simple to follow right and I just realized I forgot to do my little cursor thing for you guys I know you
43:55
guys like that um so yes I mean but the structure data
44:00
just gives Google a little bit extra help to learn about our structure rather than assuming the structure okay even
44:08
though you should be doing a good URL structure okay um hopefully that helps
44:15
out now what happens if uh here let's delete some of this so it's less to look
44:21
at less confusing here okay um
44:26
let's say for example um there are some fields that you want to add to uh your
44:33
structure data that the SEO helper Stacks do not support okay essentially
44:39
every SEO structure data stack from SEO helper has this ad custom attributes okay and basically what you will do is
44:45
you're going to add in the extra Json directly into here every structure data
44:51
um stack has that I mean from schema.org and other and maybe they're adding new things things um it just allows for
44:57
extensibility in the future so that um yeah any sort of data that I might not
45:03
support directly in the settings you can just add directly into this organization let's say Okay um so there's that now
45:13
what if you're one of the uh you know the few that don't have SEO helper how can you how can you do this how can you
45:20
implement um structured data so what you're going to want to do is um you're going to go ahead and
45:28
Google supplies the Snippets for you okay so you can go ahead and copy
45:33
this snippet now you're going to want the script tag make sure it says type application LD Json okay um so you're
45:40
going to copy this script tag and you go going to go over here and what you're going to do is you're just going to add
45:46
in an HTML stack okay now this is the foundation 6 HTML stack I recommend
45:52
using either that one or the one from my free starter pack so there's no excuse
45:58
my starter pack is free go get it okay um so yeah then you're just going to
46:06
select everything in there and then you're going to paste in your structured data obviously edit this to be whatever
46:11
you need and you're good to go okay um now this will work if you
46:19
know also within like product grids so you can do this in your grids so you know and this will also help even if you
46:24
guys if have SEO Helper but you know SEO helper maybe you want to use uh math
46:31
solver okay I I don't I don't know maybe you're doing a uh you know maybe this is Bill Burton's
46:37
next thing right he's going to go from stamps to math solving okay and um yeah
46:43
we need structured data for that so there you go there's a math solver um structured
46:49
data it's quite interesting okay um
46:54
there we go pretty simple I I think that about does it actually um we' we've
46:59
covered all the topics the whys and hows of structur
47:04
data uh we talked about where to learn about it where to get more data from it
47:09
and we talked about how to implement it uh using SE helper which I think is the easiest way um and then you know using
47:17
just a plain HTML stack if you need that um I do have plans for a big
47:24
overhaul of a seal helper after Stacks Pro ships okay um and at that point I
47:32
will add a lot more I'll I'll analyze the SEO or the structure data from
47:38
Google what they support now and I'll add a bunch um I'm probably not going to add all like for example like math
47:44
solver I'm I'm if you let me know if you know if someone needs math solver or
47:50
some other you know um off-the-wall kind of side thing um let me know if if after
47:56
the update you're like hey I I was really hoping to get uh you know maybe I'll add home
48:02
activities I don't know but you know math solver or um you know vacation rental um you know maybe maybe I don't
48:10
add those and you really really wanted that let me know I'm always open to feedback I always ship way more free
48:17
updates than any other developer probably in the world so um there we go
48:22
okay uh and yeah I have a lot of other cool little things I want to add to se helper as well so stay tuned for that
48:29
post Stacks Pro
48:39
launch yes yeah get on Google Bill like they really need a stamp structured data
48:46
like why do they not have that like that makes no sense to me like everybody
48:51
loves stamp everybody uses stamps every day I get tons of stamps every day and I
48:57
don't appreciate them enough I think if Google had a structured data for stamps
49:02
then uh the world would actually appreciate it more and uh and and you'd
49:07
be a gajillionaire that would be awesome so cool um let me see if I let me go
49:13
through the chat see if I missed anything else how do I know how do I know how do
49:20
I know SEO stack is for F6 I see2
49:26
uh oh okay um so if you have Foundation One installed um the original version of
49:32
SEO helper used to be in Foundation it it's this one um don't use that one okay
49:38
SEO helper uh the the current version is these ones that have the little spy glass and the little rainbow around them
49:45
okay um this one is very old uh very outdated um and has a only a sliver of
49:51
the functionality of of the current one and if you add it to the page it looks red so um there you go okay um the the
50:01
these are the new SEO helper Stacks down here minus the SEO RX that's a stack from uh Greg barchart from chili dog
50:08
software okay um if you have my starter pack there's also the SEO Basics um that doesn't have structured data though so
50:15
um it only has the basic meta tags you need for a web page okay uh it's a good
50:22
question orange one or the green one the green one uh I think this is a partial um that is
50:30
that's a partial I have the partial I think it's just a partial of oh of the SEO helper stack right um there we go so
50:40
yeah I would use this one right here okay it
50:51
is this guy that's what the icons look like that guy right there that's the one you want
50:56
it's the SEO help the the SEO stack for rabid Weaver for Stacks okay um yeah
51:03
it's good don't take my word for it ask everybody else um it's a good
51:11
stack uh what are the benefits of oh we talked about that thanks good to know for the resources found blah blah
51:21
blah which version of SEO to use in the project file okay I answered that yep
51:26
use use this one the ones that have this little spy glass okay with the rainbow around it those are the ones you
51:33
want if you own that that's what you should be using right search for SEO
51:39
helper oh SEO helper I mean that's the name of that stack that's from Foundation one don't use this one um
51:45
this one's a partial that I called SEO helper not even sure why that's in my project but there we go um it's these
51:52
guys right here those are the ones you want
52:00
sweet okay guys um guess we're going to call it a day um if you want more learning today
52:09
okay because your brain isn't full enough from today's live stream go check out the videos that I showed earlier um
52:16
the ones from the summit the replays uh some great ones as well as the three
52:22
live streams uh that I talked about um earlier okay um check those out if you
52:27
want to fill your brain maybe even make it go over capacity then you can uh be an SEO expert and then you can talk at
52:35
Weaver space Summit 2025 okay I I expect it cool okay guys
