07/19/2019
Stacks 4 will be here soon: Site Images are feature #2 of the 5 big new features we've added to Stacks. "Warehouse" images easily and without leaving RapidWeaver. Drag and drop images to automatically create site-wide resources in your RapidWeaver project. Now images get uploaded only once — even if you use the image many time — even if you use the image on many pages. It's totally pain-free warehousing.Stacks 4 will be here soon: Site Images are feature #2 of the 5 big new features we've added to Stacks.

00:00 hey guys this is Isaiah from your head
00:02 software today we're talking about
00:04 stacks 4 and the 5 new features we've
00:06 put into it this is feature number 4 and
00:09 its site images site images are a lot
00:13 like having warehouse images built into
00:14 stacks let's take a look
00:19 alright I have a pretty basic document
00:22 here and we're gonna add some images in
00:25 and we're gonna do it in pretty much the
00:27 same way that we did in stacks 3 so I'll
00:31 drag in the flower image and I'll drag
00:33 in the shoe images okay so we have these
00:37 two images in you know what changed well
00:41 if you take a close look here you'll see
00:44 that it's a site image at the top
00:45 instead of just saying image and well
00:49 from the basic user perspective that's
00:52 about it but deep down underneath at the
00:57 core of your project a site image is
00:59 different and the way it's different is
01:02 that it only stores that image once for
01:05 your entire site and it's even usable
01:08 outside of stacks if we open up the
01:12 resources for your project you can see
01:15 that when I added the site image it
01:18 added an image right to the resources
01:22 let's
01:24 do it live so you can see it happening
01:28 won't delete this guy out of here make
01:33 our window a bit smaller so we can see
01:35 everything all at once and now I'll drag
01:40 the shoes in again boom notice it added
01:45 that right in what's better is if we
01:48 drag that shoes image in again and add
01:52 it a second time to our document it just
01:58 uses the one that's already there it
02:00 knows about that file and it won't ever
02:05 duplicate that image we can even use it
02:09 on another page so if I go to another
02:11 page and I drag my shoes image in in
02:15 here you can see it adds it and nice and
02:18 big on this side but it still relies on
02:21 that same storage that's an inside of
02:27 the the resources of your project now
02:32 that's good for a number of reasons the
02:37 largest of which is that when you go to
02:40 upload all of this stuff for your whole
02:44 project it has to upload all of the
02:47 images and in the past each image was
02:51 its own unique image and would have to
02:54 upload each individually and there were
03:00 ways around this you could warehouse
03:01 images but that took some extra effort
03:04 an organization and maybe even some
03:09 extra typing this is all built into
03:12 rapidweaver and it's now the default
03:16 image type as long as you're using
03:19 rapidweaver
03:20 8 rapidweaver 7 and earlier we don't
03:24 have this feature we would love to but
03:26 there isn't an API in rapidweaver 7 that
03:29 allows us to do that anymore so for now
03:32 this is just a rapid weaver 8 feature
03:35 rapidweaver 7 you can still use the same
03:37 image
03:38 that we've always had in Instax but in
03:42 rapidweaver ate everything switches over
03:44 to this warehouse images site images
03:49 unless you want a specific image to be
03:55 the old style you can still do that you
03:58 can still drag in an image stack and
04:00 populate it in the same old way that
04:06 image I mean they look the same here but
04:08 under underneath this image will upload
04:11 entirely separate there are some other
04:15 minor differences that'll let you
04:19 explore on your own but for now just
04:21 know that site images are a lot like
04:23 warehouse images and it's built into
04:25 rapidweaver have a look play around make
04:31 sure to try and upload because that's
04:33 where the advantage really comes into
04:35 play
04:36 okay that was featured number four site
04:39 images make sure and catch feature
04:41 number five that's the big one
04:43 it's externals and externals are the big
04:46 feature of stacks four I'll talk to you
04:49 later"}]
