About Stacks Guru

Stacks Guru is born from the need to search the vast number of videos out there on stacks built for Stacks Pro and the Stacks 5 plugin for Rapidweaver.

We have scraped over 500 videos to get the transcripts for each in order to make the spoken word searchable.

Please use this free tool to help you learn and discover the awesome power that Stacks and the stacks made for Stacks have to offer.

Stacks 4: Site Images — Feature 4 of 5

Stacks 4 will be here soon: Site Images are feature #2 of the 5 big new features we've added to Stacks. "Warehouse" images easily and without leaving RapidWeaver. Drag and drop images to automatically create site-wide resources in your RapidWeaver project. Now images get uploaded only once — even if you use the image many time — even if you use the image on many pages. It's totally pain-free warehousing.Stacks 4 will be here soon: Site Images are feature #2 of the 5 big new features we've added to Stacks.

0:00 hey guys this is Isaiah from your head
0:02 software today we're talking about
0:04 stacks 4 and the 5 new features we've
0:06 put into it this is feature number 4 and
0:09 its site images site images are a lot
0:13 like having warehouse images built into
0:14 stacks let's take a look
0:19 alright I have a pretty basic document
0:22 here and we're gonna add some images in
0:25 and we're gonna do it in pretty much the
0:27 same way that we did in stacks 3 so I'll
0:31 drag in the flower image and I'll drag
0:33 in the shoe images okay so we have these
0:37 two images in you know what changed well
0:41 if you take a close look here you'll see
0:44 that it's a site image at the top
0:45 instead of just saying image and well
0:49 from the basic user perspective that's
0:52 about it but deep down underneath at the
0:57 core of your project a site image is
0:59 different and the way it's different is
1:02 that it only stores that image once for
1:05 your entire site and it's even usable
1:08 outside of stacks if we open up the
1:12 resources for your project you can see
1:15 that when I added the site image it
1:18 added an image right to the resources
1:22 let's
1:24 do it live so you can see it happening
1:28 won't delete this guy out of here make
1:33 our window a bit smaller so we can see
1:35 everything all at once and now I'll drag
1:40 the shoes in again boom notice it added
1:45 that right in what's better is if we
1:48 drag that shoes image in again and add
1:52 it a second time to our document it just
1:58 uses the one that's already there it
2:00 knows about that file and it won't ever
2:05 duplicate that image we can even use it
2:09 on another page so if I go to another
2:11 page and I drag my shoes image in in
2:15 here you can see it adds it and nice and
2:18 big on this side but it still relies on
2:21 that same storage that's an inside of
2:27 the the resources of your project now
2:32 that's good for a number of reasons the
2:37 largest of which is that when you go to
2:40 upload all of this stuff for your whole
2:44 project it has to upload all of the
2:47 images and in the past each image was
2:51 its own unique image and would have to
2:54 upload each individually and there were
3:00 ways around this you could warehouse
3:01 images but that took some extra effort
3:04 an organization and maybe even some
3:09 extra typing this is all built into
3:12 rapidweaver and it's now the default
3:16 image type as long as you're using
3:19 rapidweaver
3:20 8 rapidweaver 7 and earlier we don't
3:24 have this feature we would love to but
3:26 there isn't an API in rapidweaver 7 that
3:29 allows us to do that anymore so for now
3:32 this is just a rapid weaver 8 feature
3:35 rapidweaver 7 you can still use the same
3:37 image
3:38 that we've always had in Instax but in
3:42 rapidweaver ate everything switches over
3:44 to this warehouse images site images
3:49 unless you want a specific image to be
3:55 the old style you can still do that you
3:58 can still drag in an image stack and
4:00 populate it in the same old way that
4:06 image I mean they look the same here but
4:08 under underneath this image will upload
4:11 entirely separate there are some other
4:15 minor differences that'll let you
4:19 explore on your own but for now just
4:21 know that site images are a lot like
4:23 warehouse images and it's built into
4:25 rapidweaver have a look play around make
4:31 sure to try and upload because that's
4:33 where the advantage really comes into
4:35 play
4:36 okay that was featured number four site
4:39 images make sure and catch feature
4:41 number five that's the big one
4:43 it's externals and externals are the big
4:46 feature of stacks four I'll talk to you
4:49 later"}]
